Slenaken

Beutenaken (Limburgish: Böätenake) is a hamlet in the southeastern Netherlands. It is part of the village of Slenaken in the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, Limburg, about 20 km east of Maastricht. Older names for the village are Bottinachs, Butenacho and Butenachen. The village is built as a linear settlement in the valley of the Gulp river, on a road connecting Waterop with Slenaken. The village has a chapel dedicated to Maria dating from 1880 and a chapel dedicated to the Sacred heart dating from 1929. Also it has several timber framing buildings, including a farm located at Beutenaken 38, which dates from the 18th century and has been designated a national monument.

Bissen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɪsə(n)]; Limburgish: Bisse [ˈbɪsə]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, about 2 km (1.2 mi) southwest of the village of Mechelen.Bissen is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Mechelen. It has no place signs and consists about 20 houses.

Reijmerstok (Limburgish: Rimmesjtók) is a village in the municipality Gulpen-Wittem in the Dutch province of Limburg. It lies southwest of Gulpen and counts about 600 inhabitants. In the village several half timbered houses can be found. There also is a viaduct, which was part of the tramline between the Dutch city of Maastricht and the German city of Aachen that was in use from 1925 until 1938. Near Reijmerstok hops are grown for the Gulpener Brewery.

It is located in the municipality of Eijsden-Margraten (Limburgish: Megraote) and about 12 km southeast of Maastricht. It is a part of the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, and lies about 15 km southwest of Kerkrade. Epen is known for its timber framed houses and is part of the sightseeing tour the Mergellandroute. The village was first mentioned in 1041 as "in villis ... Apine", and probably means "settlement near a river". Epen developed in the Early Middle Ages.The Catholic St Paul Conversion Church is a single aisled church with a semi built-in tower with needle spire. The church was built between 1841 and 1842 and the tower was added between 1847 and 1848.Epen was home to 443 people in 1840. After World War II, it started to developed as a tourist area.

Gulpen-Wittem (Dutch: [ˈɣʏlpə(ɱ) ˈʋɪtəm] ; Limburgish: Gullepe-Wittem [ˈɣʏləpə ˈwɪtəm]) is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands (in the province of Limburg) with 14,206 inhabitants as of 2021. Gulpen-Wittem came into being after the merger of the municipalities Gulpen and Wittem. This took place after a request of both municipalities. At the time of the merger, both municipalities had about 8000 inhabitants, although Wittem was bigger than Gulpen. The town hall was situated in Gulpen, and has kept its function as town hall in the new municipality. The former town hall of Wittem was situated in a manor house in Mechelen since 1986, which is now being used as a "nursing hostel". The municipality is rural, with many castles, half-timbered houses and old monumental farms. Yearly, Gulpen-Wittem attracts many tourists from the entire country because of its relatively sloping landscape, especially during the summer.

Gulpener Bierbrouwerij BV is an independent Dutch brewery in Gulpen, Netherlands. The brewery was founded in 1825 by Laurens Smeets.Gulpener makes a lager sold in the Netherlands. Ingredients, such as barley and hops, are sourced from local farmers. These farmers produce their products in ecologically friendly ways.

Gulpen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣʏlpə(n)]; Limburgish: Gullepe [ˈɣʏləpə]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is approximately midway between the Dutch city of Maastricht and the German city of Aachen. Gulpen was a separate municipality until 1999, when it merged with Wittem. The newly formed municipality is called Gulpen-Wittem. The village itself derives its name from the river Gulp, which runs straight through the centre of the village and characterises the townscape. There is a Romanesque tower in the old cemetery, which dates from the 11th Century and is the only still existing part of a mediaeval village church. Considering its construction (its walls are up to 2 metres thick) and its location, it probably also served as defence tower, where the local villagers could go in case of danger. The former rectory, which leans against the tower, dates from 1732. It is now being let as luxurious group accommodation. The current Neo-Romanesque St.Petrus church dates from 1924 and was designed by Casper Franssen. A former monastery that was built in 1932 after a design by Alphons Boosten is being used as town hall. The village is home to the Gulpener Brewery. Every year in June, a walking tour of 70 kilometres is organised that is called the Nacht van Gulpen (Night of Gulpen). A little over a thousand people participate in this event each year.
