Schaufling

The Hausstein is a mountain in Bavaria, Germany. The 917-metre-high (3,009 ft) Hausstein ("House-stone") is a mountain in the Anterior Bavarian Forest, southwest of the Lower Bavarian town of Regen, and northeast of the town of Deggendorf, and is located in the municipality of Schaufling, in the district of Deggendorf. On the west side of the mountain, there are two ski lifts for Alpine skiers and others, with up to 1,100 metres (3,600 ft), which is part of the ski and cross-country centre of Deggendorf-Rusel-Hausstein. North of the mountain is the Rusel; on the south side is located in panoramic position, the Asklepios Clinic of Schaufling.

The Lallinger Winkel is a high valley, 162 km² in area, named after the village of Lalling, in the county of Deggendorf in the Bavarian Forest, Germany. The region opens into the Danube plain to the southeast but is delimited to the northwest, north and east by the mountain ridges of the Danube Hills which keep at bay the cold winds and rain. Apart from Lalling, the Lallinger Winkel also extends into the municipalities of Schaufling and Hunding. In the south near Auerbach the Lallinger Winkel is adjoined by the Hengersberg-Schwanenkirchen Tertiary Bay. From a geological view, the region is a section of the southern Bohemian Massif. Its rocks include various gneisses and granites. The region around Lalling was developed as early as the foundation phase of Niederaltaich Abbey in the 8th century. During the 150-year initial period of clearances, many villages were built in the Lallinger Winkel. The abbey used the favourable climatic conditions for orchards and encouraged the settlers to grow apples, pears and peaches. From 1861 to 1904 Lalling was the centre of a district fruit nursery. Even today the Lallinger Winkel is characterised by orchards and is called the 'fruit basket of the Bavarian Forest' (Obstschüssel des Bayerischen Waldes). Many small villages grow the traditional scattered orchards (Streuobstwiesen). The initiative Scattered Orchards Beyond the Year 2000 (Streuobstanbau über das Jahr 2000) led to new plantings of thousands of standard fruit trees and the establishment of the freely accessible scattered orchard experience garden in Panholling, Hunding. Especially when the trees are in bloom or at harvest time, the orchards in the Lallinger Winkel are important for tourism. Also well known are the Lallingen snowdrop meadows (Lallinger Schneeglöckerlwiese) and spring snowflakes.

Auerbach (German pronunciation: [ˈaʊ̯ɐˌbax] ) is a municipality in the district of Deggendorf in Bavaria in Germany.

The Dreitannenriegel is a mountain, 1,090.2 m above sea level (NHN), in the Bavarian Forest. The mountain rises from the crest of the Anterior Bavarian Forest high above the Lower Bavarian county town of Deggendorf and lies in the municipality of Grafling. Nearby mountains are the Breitenauriegel, the Geißkopf and the Einödriegel.At the summit is a large summit cross and a display board, that explains the panorama which extends over large parts of Lower Bavaria. On clear autumn days in föhn conditions the Bavarian Alps may also be visible. Several footpaths lead to the Dreitannenriegel from Grafling, Gotteszell, Habischried, Bischofsmais and Rusel. One of the steepest ascents in the Anterior Bavarian Forest runs along Path 3 from Mietraching in Deggendorf up through the Sauloch to Rohrmünz (c. 45 minutes) and from there almost directly up the fall line to the top. This section should only be attempted with suitable footwear as, especially in the area of the summit, smooth rock faces have to be negotiated. The summit and a large proportion of the mountainsides are part of the Special Area of Conservation called the Deggendorfer Vorwald.

Lalling is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Deggendorf in Germany. It is a nationally recognized resort town.

The Breitenauriegel (colloquially also called the Breitenauer Riegel) is a mountain in the Bavarian Forest of Germany. The mountain is 1,116 m above sea level (NHN) high and rises from the crest of the Vorderer Bavarian Forest near Bischofsmais and the neighbouring summits of the Geißkopf and the Dreitannenriegel. At the top is a summit rock with a summit cross and view looking northwest towards Gotteszell. North of the Breitenauriegel, towards, Geißkopf, is the plateau of Oberbreitenau. Various footpaths from Habischried, Bischofsmais, Rusel and Rohrmünz, including the Main-Danube Way with the Ostlinie make their way to the summit. About 750 metres southeast of the top is a works hut for the Deggendorf branch of the mountain rescue service, the Bergwacht.The peak and most of the mountainsides are in the Special Area of Conservation called the Deggendorfer Vorwald.

Bischofsmais is a municipality in the district of Regen, in Bavaria, Germany. It is well known for winter sports, especially cross-country skiing.

Deggendorf is a Landkreis (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It is bordered by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Regen, Freyung-Grafenau, Passau, Rottal-Inn, Dingolfing-Landau and Straubing-Bogen.

The 1,043-metre-high Geißriegel is a mountain in the Danube Hills, the anterior part of the Bavarian Forest, southwest of the Lower Bavarian county town of Regen and northeast of the county town of Deggendorf. It lies within the municipality of Grafling in the county of Deggendorf. Together with the Dreitannenriegel (1090.2 m), the Steinberg (999 m), the Hochoberndorfer Berg (806.7 m) and the Ulrichsberg (636 m), it forms a group of mountains to the east of the valley of Graflinger Tal that separate the villages of Grafling and Bischofsmais. Other nearby peaks are the Breitenauriegel and the Geißkopf.

The Geißkopf is a mountain, 1,097.4 m above sea level (NHN), in the Bavarian Forest in Germany.

The Guntherstein (c.700 m above sea level (NHN)) is a crag in the Bavarian Forest with good views, high above the bowl of the Lallinger Winkel and village of Lalling in Bavaria, Germany. The name comes from Saint Gunther, who once moved from Niederalteich Abbey to the then empty and primeval Bavarian Forest, cleared parts of the forests for settlement and later settled himself in the Bohemian Forest. The Gunthersteig, a hiking trail that leads in several days from Niederalteich via the Guntherstein and the border crossing at Gsenget to St. Gunther's Church in Czech Dobrá Voda near Hartmanice, still commemorates him today. From this prominent rock there is a view over the Lallinger Winkel south to the Danube plain. On clear föhn days the view reaches as far as the Alps.
