Malsburg-Marzell

Blauen or Hochblauen is a 1,165-metre-high (3,820 ft) mountain in the southern Black Forest. The peak lies within the municipalities of Schliengen and Malsburg-Marzell in Landkreis Lörrach and the community of Badenweiler in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. It is an ideal viewpoint with views of the Black Forest, Vosges, Jura Mountains, and the Alps.

Wies is a village and a former municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Since 1 January 2009, it is part of the municipality Kleines Wiesental.

Sausenburg Castle is a ruined German castle on the edge of the Black Forest, just north of the town of Kandern in Baden-Württemberg, between the villages of Sitzenkirch and Malsburg-Marzell. The castle was originally the stronghold of the lords of Sausenburg, and is built on a hill, 665 metres high, known as the Sausenberg.

The Wasserschloss Steinen (Steinen moated castle) is a fortified house in the northern part of the village Steinen in the district Lörrach.

Badenweiler (High Alemannic: Badewiler) is a health resort and spa in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, historically in the Markgräflerland. It is 28 kilometers by road and rail from Basel, 10 kilometers from the French border, and 20 kilometers from Mulhouse. The nearest big city on the German side of the border is Freiburg, about 30 kilometers away. Badenweiler lies at the western edge of the Black Forest. It is sheltered by the Blauen, 1,164 m (3,820 ft), and the climate is excellent. Its parish (Evangelical) church (1897) was built at the foot of an 11th-century castle which belonged to the margraves of Baden and was destroyed by the French during the wars of Louis XV. Many visitors come to Badenweiler for the warm mineral springs, with temperatures of 21 °C (70 °F), others for its whey cure, and still others on account of its equable climate and picturesque surroundings. There is a Kurhaus and a park of 15 acres (61,000 m²) containing a historic arboretum (the Staatliche Baderverwaltung Badenweiler), as well as a grand-ducal castle. In 1784, the well-preserved Roman baths were discovered there.

The Staatliche Baderverwaltung Badenweiler (12 hectares) is a historic arboretum located in the city Kurpark at Kaiserstrasse 5, Badenweiler, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum dates to 1758 when Charles Frederick, Grand Duke of Baden, planted a walnut allée along the hill with its Roman ruins, which was subsequently extended in 1824-1828 by Johann Michael Hofrat Zeyher (1770–1843) to create a small landscape garden. The current Kurpark and arboretum, however, are primarily the work of Ernst Kraut Inger (1824–1898), Grand Ducal Park Director from 1850–1897, who collected trees from around the world to create an English landscape park. Many of today's trees date to this period, as do garden features such as swan ponds. Today the garden contains extensive plantings of exotic trees, including mature sequoias, cedars, palm trees, eucalyptus, bananas, lemons, oleanders, hibiscus, and magnolias, as well as fine specimens of Prunus, Quercus, Rosa, Sorbus and Viburnum species and varietals.

Sallneck is a village and a former municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Since 1 January 2009, it is part of the municipality Kleines Wiesental.

Sulzburg is a town in the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the western slope of the Black Forest, 20 km southwest of Freiburg. Sulzburg had a long tradition of continuous Jewish settlement since medieval times. Around 1850 almost one third of its population of around 1200 was Jewish. Sulzburg's lovely, barrel-vaulted synagogue has been completely restored. There exists an old Jewish cemetery near the town.

Raich is a village and a former municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Since 1 January 2009, it has been part of the municipality Kleines Wiesental.

The Nonnenmattweiher is a lake that has been impounded by an embankment in the Southern Black Forest in Germany. Together with the surrounding area it forms a nature reserve of the same name in the High Black Forest in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Kandern is a town in southwestern Germany in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in the Kreis (district) of Lörrach. During the Battle of Schliengen, in which the French Revolutionary army fought the forces of Austria, the battle lines of both armies ended in Kandern. It is not far from a tripoint where the three countries Germany, France and Switzerland meet and is one of the smallest cities in Germany. To many in North America, Kandern is best known as the birthplace of John Sutter, who owned the land that gold was discovered in 1848, which sparked the California gold rush, and the beginning of intensive settlement in California. Today, Kandern has a large community of English-speaking residents as a result of the presence of Black Forest Academy. This is an English-language institution founded in 1956. Most of the students are children of international business professionals from around the world, mainly from the United States, Canada, and South Korea.
