Church Lawton

All Saints’ Church stands on a mound close to Lawton Hall in the small village of Church Lawton, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is an Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the deanery of Congleton.

Lawton Hall is a former country house to the east of the village of Church Lawton, Cheshire, England. The building has since been used as a hotel, then a school, and has since been converted into separate residential units. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Rode Hall, a Georgian country house, is the seat of the Wilbraham family, members of the landed gentry in the parish of Odd Rode, Cheshire, England. The estate, with the original timber-framed manor house, was purchased by the Wilbrahams from the ancient Rode family in 1669. The medieval manor house was replaced between 1700 and 1708 by a brick-built seven-bay building; a second building, with five bays, was built in 1752; the two buildings being joined in 1800 to form the present Rode Hall. Both the exterior and interior of Rode Hall have been altered multiples times, including work by Thomas Farnolls Pritchard and Lewis Wyatt, resulting in an irregular and complex layout. The house has large collections of period paintings, furniture, and porcelain by Chelsea, Bow and Royal Worcester. The house is Grade II* listed, and is surrounded by parkland and formal gardens, which are included as Grade II on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. On the site are a grotto, an ice house, and an ornamental obelisk, all Grade II listed structures. Rode Hall is still owned and occupied by the Wilbrahams, currently by the 9th Baronet, Sir Randle Baker Wilbraham. The hall and gardens are open to the public from April to September.

The Bleeding Wolf is a Grade II listed public house at 121 Congleton Road North, Scholar Green, Cheshire ST7 3BQ. The unusual name is said to arise from a legend in which King John rewards a local forester for saving him from a wolf.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.The pub was designed in vernacular revival style and was built in 1936 for Robinson's Brewery of Stockport, replacing an earlier pub on the site. It was provided with a car park.

Scholar Green () is a village in the civil parish of Odd Rode, in Cheshire, England. Encompassing the smaller settlements of Kent Green and The Bank, it is situated on the A34 near Mow Cop, Alsager, Rode Heath, Butt Lane and Kidsgrove and in the unitary authority area of Cheshire East. Scholar Green has a long history, as shown by the number and range of listed buildings in and around the village. Little Moreton Hall, a Grade I listed moated timber-framed house, has stood in the village since the early 16th century. Other listed buildings include the 18th-century Rode Hall and All Saints Church, built between 1863 and 1864 and designed by George Gilbert Scott. The Macclesfield Canal runs through Scholar Green, and the Trent and Mersey Canal is nearby. The population is served by three public houses: "The Rising Sun", "The Bleeding Wolf" and "The Traveller's Rest". The village is also served by All Saints Church, Scholar Green, by the Bank Methodist Church and by Scholar Green Primary School.Mow Cop and Scholar Green railway station on the line between Manchester and Stafford was situated to the north-east of the village. It opened in 1848 and was closed in 1964.

Lawton railway station is a disused railway station in Cheshire, England. The station was situated on the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) branch line to Sandbach from Harecastle. The line opened in 1852 to serve the salt and chemical works in the Sandbach area and passenger services were a very late addition, not being introduced until 1893, 41 years after the opening of the line.The station called Lawton, which was close to the settlement at Lawton Gate was one of two intermediate station on the line opened at the same time in July 1893, a third Hassall Green was opened in 1905. From the station to Lawton Junction, the junction with the Crewe-Harecastle line the line was double tracked, from Lawton to Hassall Green the line was only single track. There were minimal goods facilities at the station and the station had an island platform with the buildings on the platform between the two running lines.Increasing competition from bus services led to the line being closed for passenger services in 1930 and Lawton station closed completely on 28 July that year, with parcels traffic being dealt with at Alsager.Freight traffic continued over the line until 1964 and the line was finally closed and lifted in 1971.

The Hall Green Branch of the Trent and Mersey Canal is a canal in east Cheshire, England. It runs for one mile from Kidsgrove to Hall Green, where it makes an end-on junction with the Macclesfield Canal at Hall Green Stop Lock.
