8th Street East (Saskatoon)

Holmwood Sector, previously known as Holmwood Suburban Development Area (SDA), is an area in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a part of the east side community of Saskatoon. It lies at the far east end of the city boundaries with the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344. The area was annexed by the city on August 1, 2010 and the SDA development plan was approved on April 16, 2012. Land preparation worked started in 2012. Prior to development into a SDA the area was predominantly agricultural land and also housed the Sundown Drive-in that operated off Highway 5 (a.k.a. College Drive) from 1963. The origin of the Holmwood name is unknown, but it is taken from Christopher J. Yorath's 1913 planning map, which showed potential locations for many communities; Yorath's proposed Holmwood was placed on the map roughly where the Holmwood Sector is situated now. It is not yet known whether the name Holmwood will actually be applied to any of the communities planned for the sector, although there is precedent with the Blairmore Sector, located on the opposite site of Saskatoon from Holmwood, applying its name to the Blairmore Urban Centre. The development plan calls for a central suburban centre made up of mid-rise building and commercial development surrounded by multiple residential neighbourhoods. Residential development is expected to start on the far western side of the sector near the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. The layout for the first community within Holmwood, Brighton, was released by the City of Saskatoon on its zoning map dated June 9, 2014. Brighton is bordered by East College Park to the west, College Drive to the north, 8th Street to the south, and a realignment of McOrmond Drive (construction of which commenced in 2014) forming the eastern boundary.

Brighton is a neighbourhood in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and is the first of several communities planned for the Holmwood Suburban Development Area on the east side of the city. As of 2022 it is under construction.The land where Brighton exists was annexed by the city from the surrounding rural municipality of Corman Park in 2010. The community is bordered by College Drive to the north, 8th Street East to the south, the neighbourhood of College Park East to the west and southwest and McOrmond Drive to the east (the roadway having been realigned for the purpose). When completed, Brighton will be a primarily residential community, with some regional commercial development on its north (College Drive) and south (8th Street East) sides. As of 2018 the first commercial development at College and McOrmond is under way, with a movie theatre and other retail businesses joining some retail that predates the development of Brighton. Some office development already exists along 8th Street, again predating Brighton (and, indeed, the area's annexation), with increased construction expected in the near future. The community will feature a "neighbourhood village", an area of mixed-use commercial buildings and public space. 55% of off-street parking will be underground, enclosed, covered or within permitted buildings.

Rosewood is a primarily residential neighbourhood under construction in southeast Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The majority of its residents live in single detached dwellings. In 2011, the area was home to 73 residents. In early 2015 there were approximately 900 occupied residences. The neighbourhood is considered a high-income area, with an average family income of $104,964, and a home ownership rate of 93.3%.

Briarwood is a residential neighbourhood located in the southeast part of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The majority of its residents live in low-density, single detached dwellings. As of 2009, the area is home to 4,473 residents. The neighbourhood is considered a very high-income area, with an average family income of $117,619, an average dwelling value of $449,158 and a home ownership rate of 97.0%.

Lakewood Suburban Centre is a mixed-development neighbourhood located in southeast Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The majority of its residents live in single-family detached dwellings, with a sizeable minority of high-density, multiple-unit dwellings. As of 2006, the area is home to 4,809 residents.
