Sudbury, Suffolk

The Church of St Gregory, Sudbury is a Church of England parish church, located in the town of Sudbury in Suffolk, England. First mentioned in the 10th century, most of the present building dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. The church famously possesses the head of Archbishop Simon Sudbury, who was beheaded by rebels during the Peasants' Revolt in 1381. It is a Grade I listed building.

It is a Grade I listed building. Some of the pictures on display have been acquired with the help of the Art Fund.

St Peter's Church, Sudbury is a former Anglican church in the town of Sudbury, Suffolk, England, which now serves as an Arts Centre. The building is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The building stands in the heart of the town in a dominating position on Market Hill. A church has been on the site since at least 1180, but the current structure dates from the 15th century, though there have been several restorations in the intervening period.

Sudbury Grammar School was a boys' grammar school in Sudbury, Suffolk. The school was founded in 1491. In 1972, the school was amalgamated with other local schools to form Sudbury Upper School.

The Dominican Priory of Sudbury or Sudbury Priory, was a medieval priory of the Dominican Order, also known as the Order of Friar Preachers or "Black Friars", in the town of Sudbury, Suffolk, England. The community was dispersed and the buildings demolished during the English Reformation in the 16th century. The materials were used to construct a large house on the same site, which survived into the 19th century.

Ormiston Sudbury Academy is an 11–18 secondary school in the town of Sudbury, Suffolk. The school was established in 1972 as Sudbury Upper School, following the country wide introduction of the comprehensive school system, to serve the expanding town of Sudbury, and its surrounding villages. Sudbury Upper School was an amalgamation of Sudbury Grammar School, the High School for Girls and the Secondary Modern School. The school became an Academy in 2012, operated by the Ormiston Academies Trust. The Academy has a student population of approximately 600, previously there was a sixth form but it was discontinued in September 2022. The Academy draws students from several priority primary schools, in and around Sudbury. In addition, the academy attracts students from outside its catchment area. The academy specialises in Performing Arts. The Academy is the lead associate school for the Royal Shakespeare Company in the Eastern Region, one of just 25 in the country. The Academy gained platinum Arts Mark award and gold Sport England's Award.

Sudbury Common Lands is a 50.3 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Sudbury in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by the Sudbury Common Lands Charity. This site has ancient wetland with ponds and ditches, and there are locally uncommon species such as flowering rush, tubular water-dropwort and round-fruited rush. There is also grassland which has never been ploughed, and it has diverse grasses and wildflowers. There is access from Melford Road.

Sudbury railway station is the northern terminus of the Gainsborough Line, a branch off the Great Eastern Main Line in the East of England, serving the town of Sudbury, Suffolk. It is 11 miles 67 chains (19.05 km) down the line from the southern terminus of Marks Tey and 58 miles 32 chains (93.99 km) measured from London Liverpool Street; the preceding station on the branch is Bures. Its three-letter station code is SUY. The platform has an operational length for two-coach trains. The station is currently operated by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving it, as part of the East Anglia franchise. Sudbury is an unstaffed station with one platform as the line is single-track, and with a self-service ticket machine. Volunteers from Sudbury In Bloom man the station, which is annually entered into the Anglia In Bloom station competition; it won the Silver Gilt award in 2006, 2007 and 2008. It also won the Best Station Garden at the 2008 ACoRP Community Rail Awards.

St Bartholemew's Benedictine Priory, Sudbury was a priory in Sudbury, Suffolk, England. The priory was established as a monastic grange for the Benedictine monastery at Westminster Abbey in 1115, and was founded by Wulfric, the master or the royal mint at Sudbury. In 1540, the priory was dissolved and granted to the dean and chapter of Westminster, who continued to hold an annual service in the chapel until the mid-19th century. Any surviving buildings from the priory were demolished in 1779, except the chapel and a barn. The chapel, dating from the early 15th century, is a single cell design and has some remnants of the original Perpendicular Gothic window tracery. It is a Grade II* listed building. The barn is built of weatherboard over a wooden frame and has a hipped roof of reed thatch. It is noted as one of the best examples of a medieval barn in Suffolk. The barn was demolished after a fire in 2011 and was delisted on 31 October 2023.

Brundon is a hamlet in the Babergh district, in the English county of Suffolk. It is located on the River Stour near the town of Sudbury (its post town). For transport there is the A131 road nearby. Brundon was recorded in the Domesday Book as Branduna. Brundon Hall is a grade II* listed 18th century building which stands near the former Brundon water mill.
