Sant'Erasmo is an island in the Venetian Lagoon lying north-east of the Lido island and east of Venice, Italy.

MOSE (Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico, Experimental Electromechanical Module) is a project intended to protect the city of Venice, Italy, and the Venetian Lagoon from flooding. The project is an integrated system consisting of rows of mobile gates installed at the Lido, Malamocco, and Chioggia inlets that are able to isolate the Venetian Lagoon temporarily from the Adriatic Sea during acqua alta high tides. Together with other measures, such as coastal reinforcement, the raising of quaysides, and the paving and improvement of the lagoon, MOSE is designed to protect Venice and the lagoon from tides of up to 3 metres (9.8 ft). Currently it is raised for tides of more than 110 centimetres. The Consorzio Venezia Nuova is responsible for the work on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – Venice Water Authority. Construction began simultaneously in 2003. On 10 July 2020, the first full test was successfully completed, and after multiple delays, cost overruns, and scandals resulted in the project missing both its 2018 completion deadline (originally a 2011 deadline) and its 2021 deadline, and is now to be finished in 2025. On 3 October 2020, the MOSE was activated for the first time in the occurrence of a high tide event, preventing some of the low-lying parts of the city (in particular piazza San Marco) from being flooded.

Sant'Andrea is a small island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. It houses the Forte di Sant'Andrea, a large fortress built in the 16th century to defend Venice. Sant'Andrea constitutes a prolongation of the island of Vignole, from which it is separated by a narrow channel, towards the Porto di Lido-San Nicolò on the Lido, between Venice's Island and the island of Sant'Erasmo.

Venice-Lido Airport (Italian: Aeroporto di Venezia-Lido, ICAO: LIPV) is an aerodrome located 1.9 nautical miles (3.5 km; 2.2 mi) east of Venice (Venezia), a city in the Veneto region in Italy. It is situated on the north end of the island of Lido di Venezia. It is also known as Giovanni Nicelli Airport, after Sgt. Giovanni Nicelli (born 1893), an ace of the Italian Air Force, and was formerly known as Venice-San Nicolò Airport. The aerodrome is operated by Nicelli S.p.A. and administered by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) of Venice. The air traffic service (ATS) authority is ENAV.

Vignole (also Le Vignole) is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy, with a surface of some 69.20 ha. It is located north-east of Venice, between the islands of Sant'Erasmo and La Certosa.

Punta Sabbioni (Pronounced pun-ta sab-bee-ohnee) is a port for daily boats to Venice. Punta Sabbioni is situated in the West Coast of Cavallino-Treporti, Italy. The port's diameter is approx. 5.7 km (3.3 miles)

San Giacomo in Paludo is an island north of the Venice Lagoon. It is being repurposed as a cultural center after serving as a monastery, pilgrim refuge, and quarantine island in prior centuries.

San Francesco del Deserto is an island in the Venetian Lagoon in Véneto, Italy, with a surface of some 4 ha. It is located between Sant'Erasmo and Burano. It houses a Franciscan monastery.

San Nicolò al Lido refers to both the San Nicolò Church (Italian: Chiesa / Parrocchia di San Nicolò - San Nicoletto) and most importantly to its annexed Monastery of San Nicolò (Italian: Abbazia di San Nicolò) located in Venice, northern Italy. It is located in the northern part of the Lido di Venezia and houses the relics of Saint Nicholas, patron of sailors (shared with Bari). From this church, the traditional thanksgiving Mass of the Sposalizio del Mare ("Marriage of the Sea") is celebrated. The complex houses monks of the Franciscan order.

The European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) is an interdisciplinary centre covering the area of human rights education and research formed by 41 universities from all European Union member states. The EIUC's activities include interdisciplinary education of students worldwide; developing training for senior officials of international organisations, field personnel, and other human rights professionals; identifying means of transferring academic expertise to the public, such as using visual arts and mass media; creating an environment for research cooperation; representing a network of graduates of the European Master's Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation. The centre is housed in the Monastery of San Nicolò al Lido which has been made available to the EIUC by the Municipality of Venice, Italy.

La Certosa (Italian: Isola della Certosa) is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. It is located north-east of Venice, fewer than 250 metres (820 feet) from San Pietro di Castello and little more than 500 metres (1,640 feet) from the Venice Lido. A 20-metre-wide (66 ft) channel separates it from the Vignole island. La Certosa has a surface of some 22 hectares (54 acres).

Mazzorbo is one of various islands in the northern part of the Lagoon of Venice. Like the other islands in this part of the lagoon, it was the site one of the earliest settlements in the lagoon which predated the development of Venice. However, these islands then declined and were eventually abandoned. In the 1980s the architect Giancarlo De Carlo built a brightly coloured residential neighbourhood to help to repopulate Mazzorbo. In 2019 its population was 256. It is linked to Burano by a wooden bridge. It was once an important trading centre but is now known for its vineyards and orchards. Its main attraction is the fourteenth century church of Santa Caterina.
