On 8 April 2025, the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic collapsed during a live performance by merengue musician Rubby Pérez. The structural failure occurred at approximately 12:44 a.m. AST, resulting in 233 fatalities and more than 180 injuries. There were approximately 515 people in the club at the time of the collapse. It is one of the deadliest non-natural disasters in the country's history.

The Supreme Court of the Dominican Republic (known by its acronym, SCJ) is the highest court existing in the Republic and is, therefore, the head of the judiciary in the country. Francisco Alberto Caamaño is a Santo Domingo Metro station on Line 1. It was open on 22 January 2009 as part of the inaugural section of Line 1 between Mamá Tingó and Centro de los Héroes. The station is between Amín Abel and Centro de los Héroes.This is an underground station, built below Avenida Dr. Bernardo Correa y Cidrón. It is named to honor Francisco Caamaño.

Winston Churchill Avenue is the most important avenue of the central polygon of the National District in the Dominican Republic. This avenue contains the main shopping centres and businesses of Santo Domingo, in addition to attractions and cultural zones, between them in the east is "The Boulevard of the stars", inspired by the Walk of the Fame of Hollywood. Hands beside stars of important artists like Juan Luis Guerra, Ángela Carrasco, Freddy Beras Goico, Julio Iglesias, Óscar de la Renta among others. The avenue carries the name of the former British prime minister Sir Winston Churchill. The avenue extends 2.4 kilometres from the intersection of the Avenue 27 February until the intersection of the Duarte Highway to the level of 6.5 km, and previously extended from the intersection with the George Washington Avenue having a length of 4.6 km from its start in the Duarte Highway. Nowadays, the stray stretch of 2.6 Kilometres is called Avenue Enrique Jiménez Moya, although the Dominicans never adopted this name and follow it as The Churchill.
