CESI, formerly Centre des études supérieures industrielles, is a French graduate engineering school created in 1958.Its headquarters are in Nanterre close to Paris and it is located in 29 campuses in France, Spain, Algeria and Cameroun.The College is member of the Union of Independent Grandes Écoles.

Gunman Richard Durn opened fire at the end of a town council meeting, resulting in the deaths of eight councillors and the injury of nineteen others. Durn committed suicide the following day, by leaping from a police station window during questioning.

The capacity of the arena for basketball games is 3,000. It is the home arena of the French League basketball club Nanterre 92 for French national domestic league games and also for EuroCup and Champions League games.
