War of 1812 Museum (Plattsburgh)

The "Old Stone Barracks" is the last remaining structure of a proposed quadrangle of early U.S. Army barracks built at Plattsburgh, New York in 1838. Of the four main buildings initially planned for the Plattsburgh post, only two were ever constructed, an officer's barracks and an enlisted barracks which formed an "L" shape. The buildings were utilized by the Army for nearly a century. The officer's quarters, in which Lt. Ulysses S. Grant once stayed, was torn down by the U.S. Air Force during the winter of 1963. The remaining building, the 200-foot (61 m) long, two story "Old Stone Barracks," remained mostly empty after the early 1960s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. In December 2010 the Barracks and more than 7 acres of property was offered to a Canadian real estate developer for $35,000 with the intention of building an apartment complex on the historic site. At the time, the Barracks property was appraised at over $775,000 and the sale sparked public outcry for its preservation. In 2014, the building was again sold to current owners Terry Schmaltz and Mary Theresa Pearl who redeveloped it as the home of the "Valcour Brewing Company." The new craft brewery opened in 2016.

The Champlain Valley Transportation Museum in Plattsburgh, New York, United States, founded in 2000 to be a museum dedicated to the history of Lozier Motors, has grown in scope to cover all the transportation in the region. It includes artifacts and displays on the history of land and water based transportation in the region, especially on Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence Seaway. The museum was the idea of Anthony Vaccaro, a Plattsburgh physician, who owned and restored a 1915 Lozier. He saw a museum dedicated to Lozier Motors as a way of promoting Plattsburgh's rich history. Despite the museum's expanded scope, the Lozier remains its centerpiece. The museum's Type 82 Lozier is the only known Type 82 in existence.The museum officially opened on the site of the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 2004 with the help of a corps of volunteers. Its permanent collection includes two Lozier Automobiles. The museum is required to raise $200,000 in order to receive the grant and in January 2008 it began a capital campaign to achieve this goal.

United States Oval Historic District is a national historic district located on Plattsburgh Air Force Base at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. The district includes 26 contributing buildings and one contributing structure. The district consists of post headquarters, barracks, officers' quarters, a hospital, a chapel, and various buildings surrounding a broad parade ground. All were built between 1893 and 1934 by the U.S. Army as components of the former Plattsburgh Barracks.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Fort Brown Site is a historic former redoubt located on the Saranac River at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built during the War of 1812 and used in Battle of Plattsburgh. It had eight guns and four interior buildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The site is part of now Fort Brown Park and is operated by the City of Plattsburgh.

The Point is a national historic district located at Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. It encompasses 33 contributing buildings and contains a collection of historic homes dating from about 1815. The district is adjacent to the historic D & H Railroad Complex and also Plattsburgh Bay, an arm of Lake Champlain. It is bounded by the railroad from the north, by Plattsburgh Bay from the east, and by the Saranac River, which separates it from downtown Plattsburgh, from the west.: 5 The historic district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1982.

Plattsburgh station is an Amtrak intercity train station in Plattsburgh, New York. The station is served by one daily round trip on the Adirondack. It has one low-level side platform on the west side of the single track of the Canadian Pacific Railway Canadian Subdivision. The Plattsburgh station was opened in 1886, previously used as a Delaware and Hudson Railway Depot, and was designed by Albany architects Fuller & Wheeler, in the French Provincial style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1982 as the D & H Railroad Complex. Currently Amtrak only uses a small office downstairs at track level while the above space holds law offices, a media production business, and financial investment offices. The station has no intercity bus connections. Greyhound Lines and Trailways of New York stop near the U.S. Route 9 / Interstate 87 interchange north of Plattsburgh, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) from the station.

Parc is a location and census-designated place in Clinton County, New York, United States. The name "Parc" is derived from the official name for the 3,447-acre (13.95 km2) industrial site, which is PARC, an acronym for the Plattsburgh Airbase Redevelopment Corporation. PARC was established for the purpose of redeveloping the Plattsburgh Air Force Base after it closed on September 25, 1995. PARC is now operated by the Plattsburgh Air Base Development Authority, and the massive airfield is now Plattsburgh International Airport. The population of the Parc CDP was 254 at the 2010 census. Parc is located in the town of Plattsburgh and is bordered to the north by the city of Plattsburgh.

St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and Rectory is a historic Roman Catholic church and rectory located at 20 Broad Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. Both structures were added to the National Register of Historic Places as one record in 1982.

Strand Theater, now called the Strand Center Theatre, is a historic theater located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built in 1924 as the premier theater in Plattsburgh and designed in the Classical Revival style. It consists of a vestibule, main lobby, mezzanine, auditorium, and stage with supporting spaces. It has seating for 950 people. It was in continuous use as a movie theater until 2005, when it was purchased by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA) with the goal of restoring it to its historic grandeur. This restoration took 10 years and $4 million to complete. In 2014 the NCCCA changed its legal name to The Strand Center for the Arts which includes this beautiful Strand Center Theatre but also the Federal Building next door which houses administration, gallery space and arts education classes. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 34 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. It was originally built between 1812 and 1816; after a fire destroyed the structure in 1867, it was rebuilt in the same location between 1868 and 1873. It is a rectangular limestone Gothic Revival style church. It has a slate gable roof and buttresses. It features arched openings and a central square bell tower with tall spire and embedded clocks on each side.The congregation officially formed in 1797, after having met since at least 1792. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

George Downie (19 January 1778 – 11 September 1814) was a Scottish officer of the British Royal Navy. During the War of 1812, he commanded a British squadron that fought an American squadron on Lake Champlain in the Battle of Plattsburgh, during which he was killed.
