The "Old Stone Barracks" is the last remaining structure of a proposed quadrangle of early U.S. Army barracks built at Plattsburgh, New York in 1838. Of the four main buildings initially planned for the Plattsburgh post, only two were ever constructed, an officer's barracks and an enlisted barracks which formed an "L" shape. The buildings were utilized by the Army for nearly a century. The officer's quarters, in which Lt. Ulysses S. Grant once stayed, was torn down by the U.S. Air Force during the winter of 1963. The remaining building, the 200-foot (61 m) long, two story "Old Stone Barracks," remained mostly empty after the early 1960s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. In December 2010 the Barracks and more than 7 acres of property was offered to a Canadian real estate developer for $35,000 with the intention of building an apartment complex on the historic site. At the time, the Barracks property was appraised at over $775,000 and the sale sparked public outcry for its preservation. In 2014, the building was again sold to current owners Terry Schmaltz and Mary Theresa Pearl who redeveloped it as the home of the "Valcour Brewing Company." The new craft brewery opened in 2016.

The War of 1812 Museum is a museum in Plattsburgh, New York dedicated to exploring the causes and effects of the War of 1812 and the Battle of Plattsburgh. The museum is run by the Battle of Plattsburgh Association and is located on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base. The building has an interpretive center that features artifacts and graphic panels centered on a diorama depicting the battle. It also contains an exhibition area with rotating exhibits about the War of 1812. The museum hosts the Key Bank Gallery, which contains the paintings "Close Action" by Dean Mosher, and "Battle of Lake Champlain" by Julian Oliver Davidson. The museum is the caretaker of the original bronze plaques from the "Soldiers and Sailors Monument" on nearby Crab Island which are also on display in the gallery and were re-dedicated there in 2006. Group tours are available by appointment. A gift shop sells War of 1812 related items. A historic marker entitled "War of 1812 Trail" was created by the and installed on the museum grounds in 2014. It was erected by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation and commemorates the members of the American and British military who fought during the Battle of Plattsburgh. As of September 2023, the museum is looking for a new location because it is "outgrowing its space."

The Champlain Valley Transportation Museum in Plattsburgh, New York, United States, founded in 2000 to be a museum dedicated to the history of Lozier Motors, has grown in scope to cover all the transportation in the region. It includes artifacts and displays on the history of land and water based transportation in the region, especially on Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence Seaway. The museum was the idea of Anthony Vaccaro, a Plattsburgh physician, who owned and restored a 1915 Lozier. He saw a museum dedicated to Lozier Motors as a way of promoting Plattsburgh's rich history. Despite the museum's expanded scope, the Lozier remains its centerpiece. The museum's Type 82 Lozier is the only known Type 82 in existence.The museum officially opened on the site of the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 2004 with the help of a corps of volunteers. Its permanent collection includes two Lozier Automobiles. The museum is required to raise $200,000 in order to receive the grant and in January 2008 it began a capital campaign to achieve this goal.

Plattsburgh Air Force Base is a former United States Air Force (USAF) Strategic Air Command (SAC) base covering 3,447 acres (13.7 km²) in the extreme northeast corner of New York, located on the western shore of Lake Champlain opposite Burlington, Vermont, in the town of Plattsburgh, New York. The base closed on 25 September 1995, pursuant to the Defense Base Realignment and Closure Act of 1990 (10 U.S.C. Sec. 2687 note) and the recommendations of the Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission. It is now a civilian airport and industrial complex, operated by the Plattsburgh Air Base Development Authority. The airfield is now known as Plattsburgh International Airport.

United States Oval Historic District is a national historic district located on Plattsburgh Air Force Base at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. The district includes 26 contributing buildings and one contributing structure. The district consists of post headquarters, barracks, officers' quarters, a hospital, a chapel, and various buildings surrounding a broad parade ground. All were built between 1893 and 1934 by the U.S. Army as components of the former Plattsburgh Barracks.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Fort Brown Site is a historic former redoubt located on the Saranac River at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built during the War of 1812 and used in Battle of Plattsburgh. It had eight guns and four interior buildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The site is part of now Fort Brown Park and is operated by the City of Plattsburgh.

Plattsburgh International Airport (IATA: PBG, ICAO: KPBG, FAA LID: PBG) is a county public-use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) south of the central business district of the city of Plattsburgh, within the Town of Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York, United States. About 85 percent of the airport's passengers in 2013 were Canadians, mostly from Montreal.The airport is located at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base and has been owned by Clinton County since 2002. The old base is still being redeveloped by Plattsburgh Airbase Redevelopment Corporation, established in 1995 after the airbase closed. The airport's massive facilities have been upgraded to civilian aviation standards and the county fully transitioned here from Clinton County Airport as of June 2007. Passenger service began on June 18, 2007, and Clinton County Airport has been shut down since then. All airline service in Plattsburgh goes through the airport, which has expanded its terminal building to accommodate more passengers and provide more gates for aircraft. Scheduled passenger service from this airport to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is subsidized by the United States Department of Transportation via the Essential Air Service program. The airport was closed to air traffic from April 13, 2021, to approximately June 22, 2021 due to the middle section of the runway being repaved.It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a primary commercial service airport (more than 10,000 enplanements per year). As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 45,998 passenger boardings (enplanements) in 2008, 73,159 enplanements in 2009, 94,808 in 2010, and 139,698 in 2011.

Temple Beth Israel (Hebrew: בית ישראל) is a Reform Jewish synagogue located at One Bowman Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York, in the United States. Established in 1861, it initially served Plattsburgh's Jewish population and itinerant Jewish tradesmen in the region. After worshiping in temporary locations, the congregation acquired its first permanent home on Oak Street in 1866. Beth Israel adopted Reform services in 1910, and joined the Union for Reform Judaism in 1913.The current building at 1 Bowman Street was completed in 1971, and houses a number of notable works of art by Marc Chagall, Ben Shahn and Frank Eliscu. Eric Slaton served as rabbi from 1985 to 1988, and Carla Freedman from 1990 to 1997;Freedman was the first Canadian woman to become a rabbi, and the first woman ordained at Hebrew Union College to become a grandmother. Freedman was followed as rabbi by David Steinberg (1999–2005), Heidi Waldmann (2005-2008), Andrew Goodman (2008–2010), Emma Gottlieb (2010–2012), Kari Tuling (2012–2017), and David Kominsky.Temple Beth Israel is the only synagogue in New York State north of Glens Falls that has a full-time rabbi. As of 2020, Kominsky was the synagogue's rabbi.

George Downie (19 January 1778 – 11 September 1814) was a Scottish officer of the British Royal Navy. During the War of 1812, he commanded a British squadron that fought an American squadron on Lake Champlain in the Battle of Plattsburgh, during which he was killed.

Clinton Community College (CCC) is a public community college in Plattsburgh, in Clinton County, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY). CCC is a residential campus that has 1,376 undergraduates with an average class size of 16. Located on Lake Champlain, it is an hour south of Montreal, Quebec and across the lake from Burlington, Vermont. Clinton Community College offers fifteen A.A., A.S., and A.A.S. programs and ten certificate programs, all approved by the New York State Department of Education, as well as a number of articulation agreements and transfer options to other four-year colleges and universities. Since 2009, students have also had the option to further their educations and earn a four-year Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Services from Cazenovia College, on the grounds of CCC at night.

Plattsburgh is a city in, and the seat of, Clinton County, New York, United States, situated on the north-western shore of Lake Champlain. The population was 19,841 at the 2020 census. The population of the surrounding (and separately incorporated) Town of Plattsburgh was 11,886 as of the 2020 census, making the combined population of Plattsburgh to be 31,727. Plattsburgh lies just to the northeast of Adirondack Park, immediately outside of the park boundaries. It is the second largest community in the North Country region (after Watertown), and serves as the main commercial hub for the sparsely populated northern Adirondack Mountains. The land around what is referred to as Plattsburgh was previously inhabited by the Iroquois, Western Abenaki, Mohican and Mohawk people. Samuel de Champlain was the first ever recorded European that sailed into Champlain Valley and later claimed the region as a part of New France in 1609.Plattsburgh was the site of the amphibious Battle of Plattsburgh in the War of 1812, a key American victory that marked the end of hostilities in the Northern United States. It has been an important military outpost for much of its history, from hosting one of the largest Citizens' Military Training Camps prior to World War I, and Plattsburgh Air Force Base, the east coast center of operations for the Strategic Air Command during much of the Cold War period. The conversion of the base to a civilian airport in the 1990s resulted from the Base Realignment and Closure process during the wind down of the Cold War, and today it serves as a hub for economic development for the region. The city was named one of the Financial Times Top 10 Micro City of the Future several times.

St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and Rectory is a historic Roman Catholic church and rectory located at 20 Broad Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. Both structures were added to the National Register of Historic Places as one record in 1982.
