The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is a Buddhist monument near Bendigo in central Victoria, Australia. The basic idea for building the stupa came from Lama Yeshe and then, after Lama Yeshe's death, from Lama Zopa Rinpoche, who decided to model the stupa (kumbum) on the Great Stupa of Gyantse which is 600 years old. When completed, the stupa's exterior will be an exact replica of the Great Stupa of Gyantse. It will be 50 metres (160 ft) high and its four sides will each be 50 metres (160 ft) long, making it one of the largest Buddhist monuments in the Western world. Buddhists say that viewing the stupa will help purify the mind.The stupa has been designed to last 1,000 years. The interior has teaching rooms, a central temple, a library and 80 ornate shrine rooms. It houses the 2.5 metre Jade Buddha for Universal Peace statue, the world’s largest gem-quality jade Buddha statue. There is a vast collection of Asian sacred relics and statues on display at the stupa's exhibition centre.

Maiden Gully is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in central Victoria, Australia, located 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) west of the central business district along Calder Highway. At the 2016 census, Maiden Gully had a population of 4,992.Maiden Gully is surrounded by the Bendigo suburbs of Kangaroo Flat, Eaglehawk, California Gully, Long Gully, West Bendigo, Golden Square and the outer-rural suburbs of Lockwood, Marong and Myers Flat. Maiden Gully has experienced enormous growth in recent years, with growth mainly centred to the north of the Calder Highway in the Robin Hill Estate, and to the Southwest of the Calder Highway. In addition to this, there remains a small pocket of semi-rural acreages to the west of Monsants Road. Maiden Gully is very popular suburb of Greater Bendigo with families due to its rural feel, with easy access to the Bendigo CBD, an easy 10-minute drive away. The suburb has developed and changed immensely since the early 1990s. From the early to mid 1990s a general store operated with Fuel, Video/DVD hire and a takeaway store. Fuel at the store ceased to be available in the early 2000's. The Avondel Caravan Park is situated alongside the store. Maiden Gully's local amenities include the Maiden Gully Primary School, Post Office, Maiden Gully Cafe (previously the General Store), Bendigo UFS Pharmacy, Local Bakery as well as an IGA Supermarket that opened in 2006. As of 2022, a Medical Clinic and a Childcare Centre were also operating. In 2015 Marist college Bendigo opened and now has over 1000 students. The school is a branch of the Marist brothers and is seen as one of the reasons for the big growth in the area.

Sailors Gully is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in north central Victoria, Australia, 8.5 kilometres (5.3 mi) north west of the Bendigo city centre. At the 2016 census, Sailors Gully had a population of 743.

Eaglehawk railway station is located on the Piangil line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-western Bendigo suburb of Eaglehawk, and it opened on 19 September 1876.A pedestrian subway once existed at the up end of the station, until it was filled in and replaced with a pedestrian crossing in 1967.The Eaglehawk–Kerang electric staff section was replaced with staff and ticket in 1987. In 1989, the signal box, interlocking and goods yard at the station was abolished. A former goods shed and a small disused platform is located opposite the station. In 2020, the station underwent a refurbishment, including new car park spaces and drop-off zones, an upgraded forecourt and an extension to the platform at the up end of the station.Located approximately 1 km west of the station is the junction of the Piangil line and the disused Eaglehawk–Inglewood line.

Electoral district of Eaglehawk was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It was created by the Electoral Act Amendment Act 1888, taking effect at the 1889 elections. It was abolished by the Electoral Districts Act 1926 (taking effect at the 1927 elections) when several new districts were created.

Eaglehawk is a suburb within the City of Greater Bendigo and a former gold-mining town in Victoria, Australia. The town is situated to the north-west of Bendigo on the Loddon Valley Highway. The highway is known locally as High Street until the intersection with Sailors Gully Road (Bendigo - Pyramid Road) and as Peg Leg Road to the west. Located on this intersection is Brassey Square which is the location of the town hall. Next to the town hall is the former post office and the Mechanics' Institute. To the north of the intersection on Napier Street is Canterbury Park and Lake Neangar while the Swan Hill railway line and the local railway station are located to the south.

The Borough of Eaglehawk was a local government area which covered the northwestern suburbs of the regional city of Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. The borough covered an area of 14.54 square kilometres (5.6 sq mi), and existed from 1862 until 1994.

Long Gully is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in Victoria, Australia, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north-west of the Bendigo central business district. At the 2016 census, Long Gully had a population of 3,383.Long Gully is a working-class suburb of Bendigo, with many older style fibro houses, punctuated by well-established light industry. The suburb is the location of the Bendigo RSL club, in Havilah Road. Long Gully was heavily affected by the Black Saturday bushfires, causing one death.It is the birthplace of Dick Richards, GC (14 November 1894 – 8 May 1986). Richards was an Australian science teacher who joined Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in December 1914 as a physicist with the Ross Sea Party. He was 22 years old. He outlived all other members of the expedition and became the last survivor of the so-called "Heroic Age" of Antarctic exploration, dying at the age of 91 in 1986. His life-saving feats in the Antarctic are detailed in the book Shackleton's Heroes.

St Just Point, officially St Just's Point, was a former satellite residential area located in the Bendigo suburb of Long Gully. The area was located 0.2 km (0 mi) southwest from Long Gully and 3.2 km (2 mi) north west from the centre of Bendigo. St Just Point was recognised as a separate area within Bendigo until 1998, when it was incorporated into the boundaries of Long Gully. The demonym of a St Just Point resident was "St Juster".

West Bendigo is a suburb of the regional city of Bendigo in north central Victoria, Australia, 4.8 kilometres (3.0 mi) west of the Bendigo city centre. At the 2016 census, West Bendigo had a population of 375.
