Osterholz-Scharmbeck station

Osterholz-Scharmbeck (; Northern Low Saxon: Oosterholt-Scharmbeek) is a town and the capital of the district of Osterholz, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Osterholz-Scharmbeck is situated in between the cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven.

The Hamme (in its upper reaches Giehler Bach) is a 48 km (30 mi) long river in Germany, Lower Saxony, north-east of Bremen. Its source is north of Osterholz-Scharmbeck. It flows through the moors north-east of Bremen called Teufelsmoor, and meets the river Wümme in Ritterhude. From this junction, the river is called Lesum. The Lesum flows into the river Weser in Bremen-Vegesack. On the river Hamme there are many water-sport clubs, for example the Wassersportclub Hamme e.V. (watersports-club Hamme), the Ruder-Verein Osterholz-Scharmbeck von 1901 e.V. (Rowing Club Osterholz-Scharmbeck since 1901) and the Segel Club Hamme e.V. (Sailing Club Hamme).

The Osterholz Geest (Northern Low Saxon: Oosterholter Geest) is an undulating, sandy area of ground moraine between the city of Bremen and the towns of Bremerhaven and Bremervörde.

Ritterhude (Northern Low Saxon: Hu’e) is a municipality in the district of Osterholz, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Hamme, approx. 6 km southwest of Osterholz-Scharmbeck, and 13 km northwest of Bremen.

Ritterhude is the name of a railway station on the Bremen-Bremerhaven railway line. The station serves the town of Ritterhude in the district of Osterholz, Germany. RegionalBahn trains from Bremerhaven to Bremen call at the station, offering an hourly connection to both cities, with some peak services during the early morning and afternoon hours. The station, due to its significance for commuters into Bremen, features a park and ride facility. Access to the platforms is provided at level from the neighbouring parking lots, the tracks can be crossed by means of a pedestrian subway. Due to the station's situation in a curve, stopping trains tilt notably to the side whilst stationary.

Wümme () is a river in northern Germany, in the states Lower Saxony and Bremen, marking the border between the two states for part of its course. It is the main headstream of the Lesum.The Wümme's length is 121 kilometres (75 mi). Including the 9.9 km (6.2 mi) Lesum, that runs into the river Weser, its total length is 131.2 km (81.5 mi).The river's source is on the Wulfsberg in Lüneburg Heath. West of Rotenburg, it takes up the rivers Rodau and Wiedau. The Wümme from the left and the Hamme from the right combine near Wasserhorst (part of Blockland in Bremen) forming the Lesum.Towns on the river Wümme are Lauenbrück, Scheeßel, Rotenburg, Ottersberg, Fischerhude, Lilienthal and Bremen.

Blockland is a landscape and nowadays a borough of Bremen, Germany. It is part of the Western municipal district and covers an area of 30.3 km2.

The Breites Wasser is a lake in the borough of Osterholz-Scharmbeck in the German state of Lower Saxony on the terrain of the Teufelsmoor. A nature reserve of the same name lies around the lake between Worpswede and the village of Teufelsmoor. The lake is situated at the confluence of the Beek and the Hamme about 2 km downstream of Beek. The many ox-bows of the streams and small irregular ponds with boggy shores, the so-called Blänken form a wetland triangle (feuchtes Dreieck), which constantly changes its appearance due to the variations in water levels. Many rare birds breed in the area and there are also colonies of gulls. In autumn and spring quite a few migratory birds rest here en route to their destinations. Several years ago a large number of paths were laid out for walkers.
