Kessel-Lo

Vlierbeek Abbey (Dutch: Abdij van Vlierbeek) is a former Benedictine abbey to the north-east of Leuven in Belgium, in the sub-district Kessel-Lo.

Holsbeek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɔlzbeːk]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Holsbeek proper, Kortrijk-Dutsel, Nieuwrode and Sint-Pieters-Rode. On January 1, 2006, Holsbeek had a total population of 9,205. The total area is 38.50 km2 which gives a population density of 239 inhabitants per km2. The best known historical landmark of the municipality is the medieval castle of Horst.

The western part of the former municipality of Korbeek-Lo is now a part of the city of Leuven, Belgium. As a result of extensive local government boundary changes in 1977 Korbeek-Lo, as a municipality, was abolished. Since then the more built up western part of Korbeek-Lo has been subsumed into Leuven while the more rural eastern part of the former municipality is now part of Bierbeek.

A derailment of a passenger train occurred on 18 February 2017 at Leuven, Belgium. One person was killed and 27 were injured. The cause of the derailment was excessive speed through a set of points.

Leuven is the main railway station in the Belgian city of Leuven, in Flemish Brabant. The station is operated by the national railway company NMBS and is located on railway line 36. In 2007 it was the fifth busiest station in Belgium, only preceded by the three main Brussels stations and Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station. The station recently underwent extensive and costly renovations lasting several years. The station square houses a major bus terminal as well as extensive bicycle parking and car parking. The station includes a tunnel which passes underneath the station for pedestrians as well as an overhead bridge with elevators. The station is fully accessible for wheelchairs. While a high-speed line passes through the station, Leuven is not a stop on any high-speed route. Current expansion is limited because the Leuven station has reached the maximum set of rail and platforms possible, meaning any further expansion would require building an underground segment.

The city of Leuven in Belgium was the seat of three successive universities, each of which had a notable academic library.

Park Abbey (Dutch: Abdij van Park; also Parc Abbey) is a Premonstratensian abbey in Belgium, at Heverlee just south of Leuven, in Flemish Brabant. The Annales Parchenses were written here in the 12th century.

Group T (Groep T) is a college (formerly hogeschool (college)) in Leuven, Belgium. The school was formed by a fusion of an existing school for technical (industrial) engineers and the Provinciale Normaalschool. Nowadays the school offers two main branches: The Engineering College: a Bachelor and Master in industrial sciences. The Teacher's College: a Bachelor of education.Apart from this, Group T has built a considerable reputation for adult education (social promotion). The school has always emphasized its independence from other educational institutions in Belgium. This is the main reason it has not joined the KHL (Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven) when that was formed. Group T is especially active in international cooperations with universities in China (Tsinghua University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing Normal University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Zhejiang University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University and more).Group T is a member of the association (grouping of universities and hogescholen) formed by the KU Leuven. In the academic year of 2013-2014 the Engineering studies at Group T was integrated in the KU Leuven.

The Mgr. Ladeuzeplein (English: Mgr. Ladeuze Square) is the largest square in the centre of Leuven, Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The square was named after a former rector of the Catholic University of Leuven, Mgr. Paulin Ladeuze. The central library of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) is located on this square.

The Institute of Philosophy is the faculty of philosophy at the KU Leuven in the Belgian city of Leuven. It was founded in 1968 when the Institut supérieur de Philosophie - Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte of the Catholic University of Leuven (1835–1968) was split into a Dutch-speaking entity and a French-speaking entity. Its main buildings are located in the center of Leuven, Belgium at the Kardinaal Mercier Square, the founder of the original institute.

Korbeek-Lo is a large village located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant, a short distance to the east of Leuven. The total area is 39.75 km² which gives a population density, using 2006 values, of 829 inhabitants per km². As a result of extensive local government boundary changes in 1977 Korbeek-Lo, as an administrative entity, was abolished. Since then the more built up western part of Korbeek-Lo has been subsumed into Leuven while the more rural eastern part of the former municipality is now part of Bierbeek.

Wilsele is a part of the city of Leuven, Flemish Brabant, Flanders, Belgium. The Canal Leuven-Dijle which runs from Leuven to Mechelen passes through Wilsele and separates this part of Leuven into two parts: Wilsele-Dorp (Wilsele-Village) and Wilsele-Putkapel. Due to the physical separation, both parts have gone their own way for many years. Only recently Leuven has opened a bridge over the canal. The central area of Wisele is situated between Wilsele-Dorp and Wilsele-Putkapel. There is a partial town hall, subsidiary site of the city library and police, as well as a sports and cultural centre. Also the presence of the Centrumstraat (Centre Street) opposite to the town hall is a witness of the past of this part as the village centre. Part of Wilsele is located on the Keizersberg ("Emperor's Hill") or Boellenberg. The Keizersberg is the site of a beautiful abbey. The abbey houses many students from Leuven.
