The Suma Rikyu Park (須磨離宮公園, Suma Rikyū Kōen, 82.6 hectares) is a park with botanical garden located at Higashi Suma 1-1, Suma-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo, Japan. It is open daily except Thursdays; an admission fee is charged. The park was created in 1967 on the general model of the Palace of Versailles park. It includes about 230 types of trees, substantial gardens of iris (40 varieties), rose (160 varieties), and camellia, as well as a botanical garden with greenhouse, collections of hydrangea, peony, and cherry trees (20 varieties), a Japanese garden, tea ceremony rooms, a drive lined with maple trees, etc. The park also includes fountains, a picnic area and restaurant, playground, and an athletic pathway with 28 stations.

The Sumaura Ropeway (須磨浦ロープウェイ, Sumaura Rōpuwei) is Japanese aerial lift line in Kōbe, Hyōgo, operated by the Sanyō Electric Railway. Opened in 1957, the line climbs Mount Hachibuse (246m) of the Suma coast. At the summit, there is a transfer to the Carlator (カーレーター, Kārētā), a sort of escalator with baskets. Carlator is a portmanteau of "Car" and "escalator".

Suma (須磨区, Suma-ku) is one of 9 wards of Kobe, Japan. As of February 1, 2012, it has an area of 30.0 km², and a population of 166,324, with 71,745 households. There is a white sandy beach in this ward, which attracts tourists to the Kansai region for sunbathing and popular events during the summer. The beach is also a location in the Japanese literary classics Ise Monogatari, Genji Monogatari, and Heike Monogatari. Suma is often referred to as an utamakura or meisho, and is mentioned frequently in waka, and in Noh, Kabuki and Bunraku dramas. Nowadays, people mainly live in Myodani, Myohoji and other northern parts of the ward.Myōdani Station is a major station in western Kobe.

Takatori Station (鷹取駅, Takatori Eki) is a railway station on the JR West San'yō Main Line (JR Kobe Line) in Suma-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Only local trains stop at Takatori Station. The station has an unusual layout. It has one island platform serving two tracks, and additional tracks on the northern side for Special Rapid Service (新快速, Shin-Kaisoku), express trains and freight trains. While the Akashi-bound express track is immediately adjacent to the station and is viewable from the platform, the Kobe-bound express track is separated from the platform by a local track, the aforementioned express track, a series of additional tracks and an active freight-related loading area. As a result, the Kobe-bound express track is located roughly 60 meters north of the island platform and is usually not in full view from the platform. Takatori Catholic Church designed by Shigeru Ban, internationally known Japanese architect, is a fifteen-minute walk from Takatori Station. In 2016, Japanese geologists at the Riken Advanced Institute for Computational Science used the seismic waves recorded at Takatori station during the Great Hanshin earthquake of 1995 to analyze the seismic response of a reinforced concrete pier.
