Saint Volodymyr Descent (Ukrainian: Володимирський узвіз, Volodymyrskyi uzviz) is a street in Kyiv located between the Pechersk and Podil city districts. It stretches from European Square to Postal Square. The city street splits two city parks (Khreshchatyi Park and Saint Volodymyr Hill) located on the slopes of Saint Michael Hill (see Kyiv Mountains). The two parks are connected by the Bridge over Saint Volodymyr Descent, also called the Klitschko Bridge or the Kyiv Glass Bridge, which opened on 25 May 2019.The street started to form in 1711 in place of the so-called Old Pechersk Road that used to connect Pechersk with Podil. As a city street it was known originally as Khreshchatyi Drive (Ukrainian: Хрещатицький приїзд, Khreshchatytskyi pryizd) and later as Paved Street (Ukrainian: Мостова вулиця, Mostova vulytsia) becoming the first city's street paved with cobblestone. Sometime in 1810s it became part of a long Aleksandr Street (after Alexander II of Russia) that stretched all the way from Arsenal Square to Contracts Square, while the descent was unofficially referred to as Aleksandr Descent. After the occupation of Kyiv by the Soviet troops in March 1919 the long street was renamed as Revolution Street (October Revolution). When Kyiv became the capital of the Soviet Ukraine in 1934, the street was renamed once again, now as Sergei Kirov Street after the soviet government official Sergei Kirov. During the Nazi occupation the street along with the modern Hrushevskyi Street carried the name of the Nazi political figure Fritz Todt. During the World War II when Kyiv was freed from Nazi occupation, the former long Kirov Street was split at the Stalin Square (today European Square) into Kirov Street (today Hrushevskyi Street) and Volodymyr Descent that stretched from the Stalin Square to Contracts Square. In 1955 the street was shortened and part of it between Postal Square and Contracts Square was renamed Zhdanov Street (today Sahaidachny Street) after the Soviet official Andrei Zhdanov.

European Square (Ukrainian: Європейська площа, romanized: Yevropeiska ploshcha) is a square located in what is known as the Old Town (Stare Misto) or the Upper Town, in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It is also located at the north-eastern end of the Khreschatyk, the city's main thoroughfare. Other streets connected to the square are Tryokhsvyatytelska Street, Volodymyrskyi Descent, and Hrushevsky Street. In 2013–14 the square was one of the centres of the EuroMaidan protests.

The National Philharmonic of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Національна Філармонія України), often referred to as Kyiv Philharmonic and National Philharmonic, is a complex of two adjacent concert halls in the Khrestchaty Park in Kyiv, Ukraine. Formerly the Merchant's House, the building's use for musical performances is associated with the Philharmonic Society, established by Mykola Lysenko. The historic building was built at the end of the 19th century. Standing at the end of Khreschatyk street near the European Square, it has hosted numerous Russian composers such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Scriabin, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and famous opera singers like Leonid Sobinov and Feodor Chaliapin.

Hotel Dnipro (Ukrainian: Готель Дніпро) is a four-star hotel located in central Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on European Square, next to Khreschatyk Street and near Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square).The hotel was built in 1964 in a location which originally was occupied by Kyiv's Hotel Yevropa. The interior and design of the restaurant in the Hotel Dnipro was made by the architect Irma Karakis.Formally state owned, in July 2020 the hotel was sold to the private real estate company Smartland. Smartland won an open auction with their bid of ₴1,111,111,222.22 (about US$40 million (at the time)).

The Co-Cathedral of St. Alexander (Ukrainian: Співкафедральний собор св. Олександра ) also called Cathedral of St. Alexander of Kyiv is a Roman Catholic co-cathedral located in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.The church was built between 1817 and 1842 in a cruciform plan, with a dome at the intersection of the aisles in the style of classicism. The church is located on the former site of a Polish merchant district, near the present day Independence Square.To commemorate the visit of Russian Tsar Alexander I in Kyiv the Polish owner Antoni Sawicki built, with the consent of the authorities, a wooden church on the site.The first wooden church burned down in 1823; the new brick church was not completed until 1842. After 1905, the tsarist authorities eased restrictions on churches other than Russian Orthodox. In Soviet times a planetarium occupied the premises. After the fall of communism the building was renovated and became the co-cathedral of the Diocese of Kyiv-Žytomyr (Dioecesis Kioviensis-Zytomeriensis, Єпархія Київ-Житомир).

Pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Saint Volodymyr Descent (Ukrainian: Пішохідно-велосипедний міст через Володимирський узвіз), also known as Klitschko Glass Bridge (Ukrainian: Скляний міст Кличка), is a bridge connecting two parks in Kyiv, Ukraine—the Saint Volodymyr Hill and Khreshchatyi Park—over the street Saint Volodymyr Descent. It is used by pedal cycles and pedestrians only. Built over five months at a cost of 275 million hryvnia, the bridge was opened by Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko on 25 May 2019.

Central Union of Consumer Associations of Ukraine (Ukoopspilka) (Ukrainian: Центральна спілка споживчих товариств України (Укоопспілка)) is a non-profit organization of Ukraine that serves as a representative and protects interests of consumer associations, societies and their members in respective state and international organizations. The Union is responsible for activities of cooperation movement members and development as well as promotion of cooperation ideas. The organization was initially created on June 7, 1920. Eventually it was integrated into the Centrosoyuz of the USSR and on June 17, 1992 it was reestablished once again.

The Rylsky Institute of Art Studies, Folklore and Ethnology (IAFE; Ukrainian: Інститут мистецтвознавства, фольклористики та етнології ім. М. Т. Рильського, Instytut mystetsvoznavstva, folklorystyky ta etnolohiyi imeni M. T. Ryl’s’koho) is a research institute in Kyiv, Ukraine, established in August 1936.

A.Yu. Krymskyi Institute of Oriental Studies (Ukrainian: Інститут сходознавства імені А. Ю. Кримського) is a research institute in Ukraine that is part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine department of history, philosophy and law and studies languages, histories, philosophies, religions, and cultures of peoples of Asia, Near, Middle and Far East, Northern Africa, and ethnicities of oriental origin that have existed or live on the territory of Ukraine. The institute is located in Kyiv. It is named after Ukrainian orientalist Ahatanhel Krymskyi.

The Institute for the Ukrainian Language (Ukrainian: Інститут української мови) of the NAS of Ukraine is a research organization in Ukraine created to do thorough studying of the Ukrainian language. It is the Ukrainian coordinating center of research issues in the Ukrainian language. An activity of importance to the Institute is to consolidate the Ukrainian language as the official language in the lingual space of Ukraine, to reach the lingual harmony in the life of present-day civil society. Institute for the Ukrainian language was formed in 1991 and is located at the building of the Institute of History of Ukraine on Hrushevsky Street, in Kyiv. Director of the institute is a doctor of philology, professor Pavlo Hrytsenko who is assisted by a corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, doctor of philology, professor Vasyl Nimchuk, a corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, doctor of philology, professor Ivan Vyhovanets, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, doctor of philology, professor Svitlana Yermolenko.

Potebnia Institute of Linguistics is a research institute in Ukraine, which is part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine department of literature, language, and art studies. It is focused on linguistic research and studies of linguistic issues. The institute is located in Kyiv.
