The Sejong National Research Complex is a campus of four research buildings housing ten research institutes. Institutes started to relocate to the complex in 2014. It neighbors the Korea Institute of Public Finance (ko), Korea Legislation Research Institute (ko), and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (ko) and is approximately 1.6 kilometers away from the Korea Development Institute.

Sejong or Sejong City (Korean: [seːdʑoŋ] ; Korean: 세종; Hanja: 世宗), officially the Sejong Special Self-Governing City (세종특별자치시; 世宗特別自治市), is a special self-governing city and the de facto administrative capital of South Korea. Sejong was founded in 2007 as the new planned capital of South Korea from many parts of the South Chungcheong province and some parts of North Chungcheong province to ease congestion in South Korea's current capital and largest city, Seoul, and encourage investment in the country's central region. Since 2012, the government of South Korea has relocated numerous ministries and agencies to Sejong, but many still reside in other cities, primarily Seoul, where the National Assembly and many important government bodies remain. Sejong has a population of 351,007 as of 2020 and covers a geographic area of 465.23 km2 (179.63 sq mi), making it the least-populous and smallest first-level administrative division in South Korea. Sejong is located in the west-central Hoseo region, bordering South Chungcheong to the west, Daejeon Metropolitan City to the south, and North Chungcheong to the east. The construction of the city is expected to be completed in 2030, at which time 500,000 people are expected to live there.

Jochiwon station is a railway station in Jochiwon-eup, Sejong City, South Korea.

Jochiwon (조치원읍; 鳥致院邑) is a town located in Sejong City, South Korea. Jochiwon is located in South Chungcheong Province. As of 2011, Jochiwon has a large foreign community consisting of native English speakers considering its rather small size and population. This is due to the existence of two major universities: Hong-ik University and Korea University Korea University Sejong Campus, both satellite campuses. In addition to the universities, there are numerous public schools. Many of the foreign teachers that work in Jochiwon live in the Chim-san-ri neighborhood where you will find numerous restaurants, mini-markets, bars, karaoke room businesses, batting cages and other games, internet cafes, apartments, bakeries, markets and a park. The estimated native English foreigner contingency is 50. Jochiwon is centrally located on Korail's Gyeongbu line. It is a 90-minute ride on Mugunghwa-ho to Seoul and trains run approximately every 30 minutes. Just outside Jochiwon town limits is the town of Osong home to Osong Station, a station with KTX service. Jochiwon is conveniently located between three major South Korean cities: Daejeon, Cheonan and Cheongju. Each offers access to creature comforts (Western chain restaurants and shopping) that cannot be found in Jochiwon.

The Battle of Chochiwon was an early engagement between United States and North Korean forces during the Korean War, taking place in the villages of Chonui and Chochiwon in western South Korea on July 10–12, 1950. After three days of intense fighting, the battle ended in a North Korean victory. The United States Army's 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division was assigned to delay two advancing North Korean People's Army divisions following communist victories at Osan, Pyongtaek, and Chonan earlier in the month. The regiment deployed along roads and railroads between the two villages, attempting to slow the advance as much as possible. Aided by air strikes, U.S. Army units were able to inflict substantial damage on the North Korean armor and other vehicles but were overwhelmed by North Korean infantry. The two understrength U.S. battalions fought in several engagements over the three days and suffered massive losses in personnel and equipment, but were able to delay the North Korean forces for several days, allowing the remainder of the 24th Infantry Division to set up blocking positions along the Kum River near the city of Taejon.

The Battle of Taejon (16–20 July 1950) was an early battle of the Korean War, between U.S. and North Korean forces. Forces of the United States Army attempted to defend the headquarters of the 24th Infantry Division. The 24th Infantry Division was overwhelmed by numerically superior forces of the Korean People's Army (KPA) at the major city and transportation hub of Taejon, now spelled as Daejeon. The 24th Infantry Division's regiments were already exhausted from the previous two weeks of delaying actions to stem the advance of the KPA. The entire 24th Division gathered to make a final stand around Taejon, holding a line along the Kum River to the east of the city. Hampered by a lack of communication and equipment, and a shortage of heavy weapons to match the KPA's firepower, the outnumbered, ill-equipped and inexperienced U.S. forces were pushed back from the riverbank after several days before fighting an intense urban battle to defend the city. After a fierce three-day struggle, the U.S. withdrew. Although they could not hold the city, the 24th Infantry Division achieved a strategic victory by delaying the North Koreans, providing time for other U.S. divisions to establish a defensive perimeter around Pusan further south. The delay imposed at Taejon probably prevented a U.S. rout during the subsequent Battle of Pusan Perimeter. During the action, the KPA captured Major General William F. Dean, the commander of the 24th Infantry Division, and highest ranking U.S. prisoner during the Korean War.

Bugang station is a railway station on the Gyeongbu Line in Bugang-myeon, Sejong City, Republic of Korea.

Osong station is a train station on the Honam and Gyeongbu high-speed railways in Cheongju City, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It is located at the intersection of the Gyeongbu KTX high-speed rail line, the conventional Chungbuk Line and, since April 2015, the Honam high-speed railway. KTX trains began calling there from November 1, 2010, bringing high-speed rail service to the nearby city of Cheongju. Not all KTX trains call at Osong; only a select number of trains per day in each direction stop there.While not directly attached to the station, there is a KTX test track that connects with the lines just north of the station. The facility is named 철도종합시험선로 and was expanded in 2019.

Korea National University of Education (Acronym: KNUE; Korean: 한국교원대학교, Hanguk Kyowon Daehakgyo, colloquially Kyowondae) is a South Korean national university which specializes in pre- and in-service teacher training and educational research. It comprises four colleges and three graduate schools. The student body consists of about 2,400 undergraduate and 3,300 graduate students. The university is widely regarded as the top South Korean university in the field of education.
