Sidestrand

Sidestrand Halt was a railway station on the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway which briefly served the Norfolk coastal village of Sidestrand from 1936 to 1953.

Overstrand is a village (population 1,030) on the north coast of Norfolk in England, two miles east of Cromer. It was once a modest fishing station, with all or part of the fishing station being known as Beck Hythe. In the latter part of the 19th century it was catapulted into prominence, and became known as “the village of millionaires”.

It is 3.4 miles (5.5 km) southeast of Cromer, 22.2 miles (35.7 km) north of Norwich and 137 miles (220 km) north of London. The village lies west of the A149 which runs between Kings Lynn and Great Yarmouth. The nearest railway station is at Cromer for the Bittern Line which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The village and parish of Northrepps had in the 2001 census a population of 839, increasing to 886 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the village falls within the district of North Norfolk.

Sidestrand and Trimingham Cliffs is a 133.9-hectare (331-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-east of Cromer in Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site. It is in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This crumbling cliff exposes both Pleistocene sediments and a rich assembly of invertebrate fossils dating to the late Cretaceous. It also has several rare beetles and the Red Data Book parasitic herbaceous plant purple broomrape.The beach is open to the public.

It opened on 3 August 1906 and was much used in the summer months by holidaymakers.The station was host to a LNER camping coach in 1938 and 1939. Two coaches were also positioned here by Eastern Region of British Railways in 1952.The station closed when this part of the line closed to passengers on 7 April 1953. Since 1959 the station has become a private house.

Trimingham railway station was a station in Trimingham, Norfolk on the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway line between Cromer Beach and North Walsham. It opened on 3 August 1906.The station was host to a LNER camping coach in 1938 and 1939.The station closed along this part of the line closed to passengers on 7 April 1953.

Overstrand Hall is a country house in Overstrand, Norfolk, England, designed by Edwin Lutyens for Charles William Mills, 2nd Baron Hillingdon, a partner in Glyn, Mills & Co. Bank. It was built between 1899 and 1901 and is Grade II listed as of 27 September 1972. The Mills family used Overstrand as a weekend residence, preferring their homes Hillingdon Court and Dorton House as their main residences. Nicholas Pevsner described Overstrand as "one of (Lutyens's) most remarkable buildings, at the time when he had reached maturity but still believed to the full in his own inventiveness." The house is of a complex courtyard plan, with a varied range of materials, "stone with half-timbering, flint with brick and tile," and styles, "Jacobean with classical, vernacular with Italianate." Burke's and Savills Guide to Country Houses: East Anglia describes the hall as "an important early work by Lutyens, his first large work outside the Home Counties."During the First World War, the hall was used as a military hospital and the Mills family sold the house for use as a convalescent home in 1932. Currently (2018), the hall is home to Kingswood residential activity centre.

Trimingham is a coastal village and a civil parish in the North Norfolk district of Norfolk, England. The village is 5 miles (8 km) north of North Walsham, 4 miles (6 km) east of Cromer, 20 miles (32 km) north of the city and county town of Norwich, and is on the B1159 coastal road between Cromer and Mundesley. The villages name means 'Homestead/village of Trymma's people'.

Overstrand Cliffs is a 57.8-hectare (143-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Cromer in Norfolk. It is a Special Area of Conservation and part of it is a Geological Conservation Review site.These soft cliffs are subject to falls and slumping, providing a habitat for species associated with disturbance such as the rare beetles Bledius filipes, Harpalus vernalis and Nebria livida. The cliff is geologically important for its succession of Pleistocene glacial exposures.The beach is open to the public.

The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The village is close to the sea and surrounded by rich agricultural land.

Northrepps Aerodrome is a privately owned airfield south west of the village of Northrepps, North Norfolk, England approximately 3 mi (4.8 km) south-south-east of Cromer. It is located next to the A149 road close to its junction with the A 140.
