Bannockburn is a village in West Deerfield and Vernon townships in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 1,013. The village is generally considered part of the Chicago area's North Shore region. The Friedman house by Frank Lloyd Wright is located in Bannockburn. Bannockburn was founded by Scottish real estate developer William Aitken, who planned a community of "country estates" on 110 acres (0.45 km2) in inland Lake County. Named for the Scottish village of Bannockburn, the village began construction in 1924 and was incorporated in 1929. Aitken designed his development for the affluent members of his bridge and country club. His plan for Bannockburn featured large lots to imitate country living, and this design has been preserved; in fact, the original 1-acre (4,000 m2) minimum on home lots has been increased to two.Gradually, Bannockburn expanded its boundaries to its current 1,318 acres (5.33 km2). The Tri-State Tollway was built through the village in the 1950s, encouraging growth, though traffic noise pollution has been a persistent local concern. In the late 1960s Bannockburn's citizens, after some debate, approved the construction of the first of several business parks along the village's northern edge. It created its first commercial zone in 1984 along Illinois Route 22. Bannockburn's municipal services expanded slowly in an effort to limit taxes, but it established a police department in the 1970s and built a village hall in 1992.

The Prairie Wolf Slough, officially known as Prairie Wolf Forest Preserve, is a forest preserve in Deerfield, Illinois just north of Deerfield High School. The name refers to the Native American name of early Deerfield and Jefferson Park pioneer John Kinzie Clark which was nonimoa, or prairie wolf in English. The preserve is 431 acres (1.7 km2) and contains 2 miles (3 km) of trails. Since 1994, the slough has been routinely burned to allow for more native plants and animals to inhabit it and to prevent overgrowth. The land was purchased by the government in the 1970s and today is used by the nearby high school and surrounding corporate offices as a place to learn, play, exercise, and enjoy.

Trinity International University (TIU) is an evangelical Christian university headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois. It comprises Trinity College, Trinity Graduate School, a theological seminary (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), a law school (Trinity Law School which is located in Santa Ana, California), and a camp called Timber-lee. The university also maintains campuses in North Lauderdale, Florida & Miami, Florida; the camp is located in East Troy, Wisconsin. TIU is the only university affiliated with Evangelical Free Church of America in the United States and enrolls about 2,700 students. On February 17, 2023, TIU announced it was moving the undergraduate program to online modalities only and closed the residential campus at the end of the Spring 2023 semester.

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) is an academic divinity school founded in 1897 and located in the northern Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois. It is part of and located on the main campus of Trinity International University. It is among the largest theological educational institutions. Since the reorganization of Trinity in 1963 by Kenneth Kantzer, the school has consistently recruited and retained some of the top scholars in the world to serve as faculty.

The pie house, sometimes referred to as the Deerfield pie house or the Deerfield skinny house, is a two-story house located in Deerfield, Illinois, United States. It is located at 970 Chestnut Street, and is near the Deerfield Metra station. The beige-sided house was built to fit a narrow lot and has attracted attention due to its unusual shape. The house is not rectangular, but rather trapezoidal, and attained its primary nickname due to its resemblance to the shape of a slice of pie. The house has gained media attention after being featured in a viral video on the social media platform TikTok in August 2020. Since then, it has been featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and has been covered by the Chicago Tribune, both of which have further increased its attention.

Deerfield is a village in Lake and Cook counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. A northern suburb of Chicago, Deerfield is located on the North Shore, about 28 miles north of downtown Chicago. The population was 19,196 at the 2020 census.Deerfield is home to the headquarters of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Baxter Healthcare, and Fortune Brands Home & Security. Deerfield is often listed among some of the wealthiest and highest-earning places in Illinois and the Midwest. The per capita income of the village is $68,101 and the median household income is $143,729.

The Robert P. Lamont House is a historic house at 810 S. Ridge Road in Lake Forest, Illinois. The house was built in 1924–25 for Robert P. Lamont, the president of American Steel Foundries; Lamont later became the United States secretary of commerce under Herbert Hoover. Prominent Chicago architect Howard Van Doren Shaw designed the Tudor Revival style country house, which was one of the many homes he designed for Lake Forest's wealthy residents in the early twentieth century. While Tudor Revival was one of the many revival styles popular for country houses at the time, the style is unusual among Shaw's work in Lake Forest. The house's design features a long front facade with a brick exterior, oriel and casement windows, wood and stone details, a complex roof structure with gabled and hipped sections, and multiple stone chimneys.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1993.

Deerfield is one of two Metra commuter railroad stations in Deerfield, Illinois along the Milwaukee District North Line. It is located at 860 Deerfield Road, 2 blocks west of Illinois State Route 43, is 24.6 miles (39.6 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line. The station serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. As of 2018, Deerfield is the 39th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,133 weekday boardings. The current station originally served the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad, and replaced two older stations built by the railway. As of December 12, 2022, Deerfield is served by 50 trains (24 inbound, all 26 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. On weekdays, two inbound trains originate here, and two outbound trains terminate here. The commuter parking lot east of the station and tracks is the site of the Deerfield Farmer's Market, Saturday Mornings from June to October.

Formerly known as Centennial Park, Danny Cunniff Park was renamed, remodeled and dedicated in 1999 after the Park District of Highland Park, Illinois received the largest private donation ever from the family of Danny Cunniff. During Danny's brief but valiant battle with acute myeloid leukemia, which he ultimately succumbed to 37 days after his diagnosis, his parents, Tim Cunniff and Jill Cunniff were deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support they received from the community of Highland Park. Through the generosity of the Timothy Cunniff family, and a matching State grant, a renovation project was undertaken in 1999 to improve the Park's two existing soccer fields and add two new fields to the complex. In 2002, the park was named the Sports Turf Managers Association Soccer Field of the Year. The park is also home to Centennial Ice Arena.

The Mildred and Abel Fagen House is a historic house at 1711 Devonshire Lane in Lake Forest, Illinois. The house was built in 1948 for Mildred Fagen, a patron and leader in the local arts community, and her husband Abel, a textile broker. Prominent Modern Movement architects Keck & Keck designed the house, which was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian work. The one-story house has a flat roof with overhanging eaves, giving it a horizontal emphasis that reflects the area's flat landscape. The house's use of natural materials such as wood, glass, and limestone and its lack of ornamental features continue the emphasis on blending in with its surroundings. The interior design includes a low-ceilinged foyer leading to a larger dining room, stone fireplaces used as focal points, and a narrow hallway leading to the bedrooms, all of which were typical elements of Wright's Usonian plans.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 2021.

Deerfield Square is an upscale lifestyle center shopping area located in Deerfield, Illinois. The center was the first of its kind in the area, but now faces more competition. It opened in 2000. Major retailers in the mall include Ann Taylor LOFT, Athleta, Walgreens, and Whole Foods Market.

Lake Forest is a railroad station in Lake Forest, Illinois, served by Metra's Milwaukee District North Line. The station is located on 10205 North Waukegan Road (IL 43), and is 28.4 miles (45.7 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Lake Forest is in zone F. As of 2018, Lake Forest is the 82nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 607 weekday boardings.As of December 12, 2022, Lake Forest is served by 45 trains (21 inbound, 24 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Four inbound trains originate here, and four outbound trains terminate here, on weekdays. Additionally, one inbound train originates from here with one outbound train terminating here on Saturdays. Another Lake Forest station exists along the Union Pacific North Line east of this station. Therefore, this station can also be referred to as West Lake Forest station. No bus connections exist here, nor is there any connection to the East Lake Forest station. However parking is available along Telegraph Road along the west side of the tracks, and the station is accessible from North Waukegan Road through Settler's Square on the east side of the tracks. Lake Forest is the northernmost Metra station to be located on the C&M Subdivision, and serves as an emergency stop for Amtrak's Empire Builder and Hiawatha Service trains. Since 2010, Amtrak has had plans for its Hiawatha trains to stop at Lake Forest, but as of 2022 has yet to come to fruition. Metra has proposed the construction of crossovers at Lake Forest to make the station better suited to turning trains around.
