RAF Nordhorn

Engden is a community in the district of the County of Bentheim in Lower Saxony.

The community of Isterberg, in Lower Saxony’s district of Grafschaft Bentheim, came into being in the 1970s, through the amalgamation of the two former communities of Wengsel and Neerlage. It lies between Bad Bentheim and Nordhorn, and is part of the Samtgemeinde ("joint community") of Schüttorf (whose administrative seat is in the like-named town). There is no actual village centre. The namesake hill, the Isterberg -- with an elevation of 68 m -- is one of the last outliers of the Teutoburg Forest. There is a local YMCA (CVJM Isterberg-Quendorf), which serves not only the youth, but also adults and older citizen, as a meeting point. The Landjugend (“Rural Youth”) is also established in the community; among other activities, it organizes a yearly tent festival that is well-known throughout the former County of Bentheim. This small community also has its own volunteer fire brigade, which receives wide participation. The farthest outlying portion of the Teutoburg Forest is not to be found right at the Isterberg, but rather in Bad Bentheim‘s outlying centre at the center of Gildehaus. On the way out of that centre, on Gronauer Str., going towards the Netherlands, the forest’s last trees stand. It is supposed, however, that the Teutoburg Forest once stretched all the way to the Fürstlicher Busch (Princely Bush), which lies in the farming community of Bardel. Isterberg also has a no-fee outdoor swimming pool.

County of Bentheim (German: Grafschaft Bentheim) is a district (Landkreis) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the Dutch provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe, the district of Emsland, and the districts of Steinfurt and Borken in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Quendorf is a rural community belonging to the Joint Community of Schüttorf in southwestern Lower Saxony. There is no village centre. The community is made up of several settlements and scattered farms. In 1971, Quendorf joined the town of Schüttorf along with the communities of Drievorden (amalgamated with Engden since 1974), Engden, Neerlage (amalgamated with Isterberg since 1974), Ohne, Samern, Suddendorf and Wengsel (amalgamated with Isterberg since 1974) into the Joint Community of Schüttorf. While the Autobahn A 30 was being built, a small lake arose, which is now used as a local recreation area. The Vechte, a small river that empties into the IJsselmeer splits the community area and offers anglers and canoeists an opportunity to pursue their hobbies in scenic surroundings. This is why Quendorf Germany is considered one of the nation's nuzzled sanctuaries. A small primary school serves children from Quendorf and the neighbouring community of Isterberg. There is, of course, a yearly shooting festival held by the community’s marksmen’s club.

Heidfeld is a Naturschutzgebiet (nature reserve) in Lower Saxony in the area of Engden in the Schüttorf Samtgemeinde in the County of Bentheim and the municipality of Emsbüren in Landkreis Emsland. The nature reserve is designated NSG WE 241 and has an area of 200 hectares. 164 of its hectares are located in Bentheim while 36 hectares lie within Emslands. The Ahlder flows through the north-eastern area of the reserve. Currently, the forest is mostly mixed pine interspersed with oak and beech trees. The nature reserve is between Schüttorf und Emsbüren and to the west of A 31. It is located in a protected forest area, that is also home to an environmentally friendly forestry industry. Since 1998, 36.8 hectares of the forest areas are designated as protected. In a part of the protected area some of its trees are taken for commercial use.The area has been under protected as a nature reserve since 12 December 2003. It was placed under the appropriate conversation authority in Landkreis Emsland.

Wietmarschen is a unitary municipality (Einheitsgemeinde) in the district of Grafschaft Bentheim in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is split into the villages of Wietmarschen, Füchtenfeld, Schwartenpohl, Lohnerbruch, Nordlohne and Lohne with Lohne being the biggest and having the town hall while Wietmarschen, which is the second biggest, having the name.

Nordhorn (Northern Low Saxon: Nothoorn (or Notthoarn, Netthoarn and Noordhoorn)) is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the district seat of Grafschaft Bentheim in Lower Saxony's southwesternmost corner near the border with the Netherlands and the boundary with North Rhine-Westphalia.

Emsbüren is a municipality in the Emsland district, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Ems, approx. 15 km south of Lingen, and 15 km northwest of Rheine. It has a railway station: Leschede.

Schüttorf (Northern Low Saxon: Schüttrup) is a town in the district of Grafschaft Bentheim in southwesternmost Lower Saxony near the Dutch border and the boundary with Westphalia (North Rhine-Westphalia). The town of Schüttorf forms with the surrounding communities the Joint Community (Samtgemeinde) of Schüttorf. It is the district's oldest town. It lies on the river Vechte, roughly 5 km east of Bad Bentheim, and 20 km southeast of Nordhorn.

Schüttorf is a railway station located in Schüttorf, Germany. The station is located on the Almelo - Salzbergen railway. The train services are operated by Eurobahn.

Bad Bentheim is a railway station located in Bad Bentheim, Germany. The station was opened on 18 October 1865 and is located on the Almelo - Salzbergen railway. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn with NS International, Bentheimer Eisenbahn and the WestfalenBahn. The station is a border station between Germany and the Netherlands. Dutch and German locomotives used to change here as the voltage is different in the countries. From December 2023, the intercity services are pulled using a Siemens Vectron locomotive, eliminating the need for a locomotive change. From Bad Bentheim, passengers can travel on the international service to Amsterdam. Passengers can also reach cities such as Osnabrück, Hannover and Berlin. To the east of the station is a shunting area for the Bentheimer Eisenbahn which is a freight railway to Nordhorn and Coevorden.

Schüttorf is a Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district of the County of Bentheim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Its seat is in the municipality Schüttorf.
