West Leeds High School

Dixons Unity Academy, formerly Swallow Hill Community College is an educational secondary school Academy located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is sponsored by Dixons Academies Trust, having formerly been sponsored by Academies Enterprise Trust (AET). The school became sponsored by Dixons Academies Trust in October 2018, following a negative Ofsted report, and changed its name.

Wortley High School was a smaller than average secondary school which served an area of high socio-economic deprivation in the Wortley, Armley, and Bramley areas of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, before it merged with local high school West Leeds High School. Before its merger it became an Arts College. The school opened in September 1992 as a replacement for Silver Royd Girls school. It was turned into a high school for both, In June 2009 the school announced it would be closing following a merger with West Leeds High School. The students had their last day on 17 July 2009. In September 2009 Students returned with both sites being Swallow Hill Community College. The site only lasted as Swallow Hill Community College for 2 years between 2009 and 2011. All students moved to the newest built Congress Mount site on 4 July 2011.

Christ Church in Armley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England is an active Anglican parish church in the archdeaconry of Leeds and the Diocese of Leeds. The church is one of two Church of England churches in Armley; the other being the larger St. Batholomew's Church. It is a Grade II listed building.

Armley Park is a large public park located next to Stanningley Road in Armley, on the outskirts of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, Northern England. The park stretches from Armley down the hill to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, near the canal the park turns to dense woodland. On its north-west side Armley Park borders Gotts Park, which is designated as a Grade II Park and Garden. It is named after industrialist Benjamin Gott and contains his former home, Gotts Park Mansion, now the clubhouse of Gotts Park Golf Club.Armley Park has many amenities, including football pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens, a children's playground and gardens. There are also several Grade II listed features including the gate piers at the entrance on Stanningley Road, the war memorial, and the fountain and associated plaques. Armley Moor railway station was a station on the former Great Northern Railway between Leeds and Bramley. The location was between Carr Crofts and Wortley Road bridges, accessed via Station Road. It served the Leeds suburb of Armley in West Yorkshire, England until closure in July 1966 due to the Beeching Axe. The station was immortalised in 1964 in the song "Slow Train" by Flanders and Swann.

Farnley is a district in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, 2 miles (3.2 km) south-west of Leeds city centre, between Wortley, Bramley and the countryside around Pudsey and Gildersome, in the LS12 Leeds postcode area. It is part of the Leeds City Ward Farnley and Wortley with a population of 24,213 according to the 2011 Census. New Farnley is a nearby commuter village.

Gotts Park Mansion, formerly known as Armley House, is a Grade II listed country house in Armley Park, 3 miles from Leeds city centre. Formerly the home of industrialist Benjamin Gott, it is now the home of Gotts Park Golf Club. The mansion was built in 1781 for Leeds merchant, Thomas Woolrick. Gott, a wealthy mill-owner, first leased the mansion then bought it in 1812. Gott commissioned Humphry Repton to improve the house and landscape. The mansion was then remodelled, partly to Repton's plan, by Robert Smirke, architect of the British Museum. Thus it became the first Greek Revival house built in West Yorkshire.Gott's descendants lived in the mansion until the 1900s when, in 1903 it was rented by the Leeds Association for the Prevention and Cure of Tuberculosis and in 1904 opened and named The Leeds Hospital for Consumptives. After the end of World War I, it was used as a hospital. In 1928, the building and grounds were taken over by Leeds City Council on a 999-year lease, on the condition that they be used as a leisure space for the people of Leeds. Gotts Park Golf Club opened to the public on 8 April 1933.

Agbrigg and Morley was a wapentake of the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. The main purpose of the wapentake was the administration of justice by a local court. At the time of the Domesday survey in 1086, Agbrigg and Morley were separate wapentakes. For example, Methley was in Agbrigg while Rothwell was in Morley. The wapentakes were probably combined by the 13th century when similar administrative reforms occurred elsewhere in England. It was kept in two divisions, which in the mid-nineteenth century again became wapentakes in their own right.The Agbrigg Division included the parishes of Almondbury, Emley, Kirkburton, Kirkheaton, Normanton, Rothwell, Sandal Magna, Thornhill, Wakefield and Warmfield with Heath and parts of Batley, Dewsbury, Featherstone, Huddersfield and Rochdale. The Morley Division included Birstall, Bradford, Calverley and parts of Batley, Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

Pudsey Beck is a watercourse in West Yorkshire, England which borders Fulneck (Leeds) and Tong Village (Bradford). It forms the southern and eastern boundary of the area of Pudsey town, after which it is named, and continues as Farnley Beck along the northern edge of Farnley.

Gamble Hill is an area of Bramley a few miles away from Leeds city centre, in the City of Leeds District, in the English county of West Yorkshire. The area falls within the Farnley and Wortley ward of the City of Leeds Council.

Kirkstall power station was a coal-fired unit opened in 1930, serving the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was situated in Kirkstall by the River Aire north west of Leeds and had its own wharf for delivery of coal via the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

The Farnley Academy is a secondary school with serving the Farnley, New Farnley and Wortley wards of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Mr Stokes is the principal at the Academy.The Farnley Academy is built on the site of Cow Close Secondary School which became Harrington High, then Farnley Park High and then Farnley Park Maths and Computing College. The school was converted to academy status in 2012 and was renamed The Farnley Academy. The first phase of the school's £23 million Building Schools for the Future programme was completed in February 2012 with the opening of the Tomlinson Building. The refurbished Bronte Building* opened in September 2012 with the whole project completed in November 2012.Today, the school forms part of the Gorse Academies Trust which also includes The Morley Academy, The Ruth Gorse Academy and the Elliott Hudson College. The Farnley Academy's GCSE results improved from 32% 5+ A*-C EM in 2009 to 73% 5+ A*-C in 2014. The Farnley Academy is one of the few schools in the country to share a site with a centre for children with complex needs, the West SILC.
