Christian Center is an unincorporated community in Christian County in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri, United States. The community is located on Missouri Route W on the edge of the Springfield Plateau, at an elevation of 1,388 ft (423 m). Highlandville is approximately three miles west on U.S. Route 65 and Ozark is about six miles to the north-northwest. To the east and south lie the rugged topography of Bull Creek and a section of the Mark Twain National Forest.

The central feature of the district, the Christian County Courthouse, is a three-story, Classical Revival style brick building designed by architect Henry H. Hohenschild. Other notable buildings include the Bank of Ozark/Masonic Lodge (1897), First Baptist Church (1919), Methodist Episcopal Church (1914), Robertson Brothers’ Store (1882), Ozark Drug (1905), Works Progress Administration Community Building (1934), Hospital (c. 1945), and Christian County Bank (c. 1886, 1910 façade).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Ozark is also the third largest city in the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Area, and is centered along a business loop of U.S. Route 65, where it intersects with Missouri Route 14.

Parched Corn Creek or Parched Corn Hollow is a stream valley in Christian and Greene counties in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri. It is a tributary of Finley Creek. The stream headwaters in southeastern Greene County are at 37°05′41″N 93°06′39″W and the confluence with Finley Creek in Ozark County is at 37°02′29″N 93°10′28″W. The source area for the stream is in the southeast corner of Greene County and it flows to the southwest into Christian County and crosses under Missouri Route 125. It continues on southwest to join the Finley about halfway between Linden and Ozark.According to oral etymology, Parched Corn Creek was so named as it was typically as dry as parched corn.

Elk Valley is a valley in Christian County in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri.The headwater area of the valley and associated intermittent stream is located at 36°57′01″N 93°10′48″W and the confluence with Finley Creek is at 37°00′19″N 93°16′26″W. The confluence is at an elevation of 1,070 ft (330 m).The source area for the valley stream lies about one mile northwest of the community of Christian Center and on the south edge of the Springfield Plateau. The stream flows northwest, crossing under U.S. Route 65 midway between Selmore and Ozark. The stream continues and passes under and parallels Missouri Route F reaching its confluence with Finley Creek about one mile northeast of Riverdale.Elk Valley was named for the fact the valley was a hunting ground of elk by pioneers. The elk were hunted out in the 1880s. Lead and zinc mines produced ore up until the 1920s. One mine in Ozark was reported to have produces as much as 180 tons of lead ore in or around 1904. The mines are still in the valley; some have shafts of 100 feet or more. There are at least seven mines in the Elk Valley area.
