River Nevern

Cemais Is Nyfer was a mediaeval commote in the Dyfed cantref of Cemais, Wales. It consisted of the territory between the rivers Nyfer and Teifi, and comprised the parishes of Eglwyswrw, Monington, St Dogmaels, Llanfair-Nant-Gwyn, Llantood, Moylgrove and Bayvil, and parts of Nevern and Meline in what is now Pembrokeshire. Its area was about 100 km2 and its civil and ecclesiastical headquarters were at Nevern. The commote was made part of the Norman March in the 12th century, and had at least five Norman castles (Nevern, Pen-yr-allt, Eglwyswrw, Llain Fawr and Dyffryn Mawr). It ceased to be significant at the time of the Laws in Wales Acts 1535–1542, its functions being taken over by the Hundred of Cemais. It is in the predominantly Welsh-speaking north of Pembrokeshire.

Newport (Welsh: Trefdraeth, meaning: "town by the beach") is a town, community, electoral ward and ancient port of Parrog, on the Pembrokeshire coast in West Wales at the mouth of the River Nevern (Welsh: Afon Nyfer) in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. A popular tourist destination, Newport town straddles the Fishguard to Cardigan (A487) road, while the old port area hosts beach, water and other activities.

Cnapan, also known variously as Cnapan Country House or Cnapan Restaurant and Bed & Breakfast, is a Grade II listed hotel and restaurant in Newport, Pembrokeshire. It lies along the main road of the town, East Street, which is part of the A487 road, opposite The Golden Lion.

Carreg Coetan Arthur is a neolithic dolmen near Newport in North Pembrokeshire, Wales.Carreg Coetan Arthur dates from around 3000 BC and is the remains of a Neolithic burial chamber (also known as a quoit). The remains consist of a 4-metre-long capstone on smaller supporting rocks. It would have originally been earth covered, but this has eroded away. The site is managed by Cadw and it is a scheduled ancient monument.

Newport Cliffs is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (or SSSI) lying a little to the north of Newport in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. It has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest since January 1954 in an attempt to protect its fragile biological elements. The site has an area of 48.23 hectares (119.2 acres) and is managed by Natural Resources Wales.

Felin Llwyngwair is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (or SSSI) near Newport in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. It was designated a SSSI (ID2580, code 32WE3) in October 2000 to protect its fragile biological elements. The site has an area of 0.01 hectares and is managed by Natural Resources Wales.

Nevern (Welsh: Nanhyfer) is both a parish and a community in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The community includes the settlements of Felindre Farchog, Monington, Moylgrove and Bayvil. The small village lies in the Nevern valley near the Preseli Hills of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park 2 miles (3 km) east of Newport on the B4582 road.

Nevern Bridge (Welsh: Pont Nanhyfer) spans the River Nevern (Welsh: Afon Nyfer) in the centre of Nevern, Pembrokeshire, Wales. This Grade II listed bridge, 220 yards (200 m) south of the church, was built in the late 18th or early 19th century. Constructed of rubblestone and ashlar, this humpback bridge has two unequal arches—the south arch is larger—and is recessed with keystones.

Tŷ Canol Woods are an ancient woodland in the Tŷ Canol National Nature Reserve which lies south of the village of Felindre Farchog, Pembrokeshire, Wales, between the Preseli Mountains and the north Pembrokeshire coast. The site is designated as an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), NNR (National Nature Reserve) and SAC (Special Area of Conservation). After the glaciers made their final retreat from Wales around 11,500 years ago, it took time to transform the barren landscape into a lush woodland. But gradually Arctic plants were joined by shrubs, then progressively birch, Scots pine, oak, alder and hazel trees colonised. By around 6,000 years ago, an extensive deciduous woodland may have covered even the uplands of Wales. 1,000 years later the woodlands started to diminish in size and number thanks to natural and human influences. With trees over 800 years old, Tycanol is one of the few remaining ancient woodlands in Wales. The site is important not only for its ancient oaks, but also for the many rocky outcrops. Both trees and rocks are covered with mosses and nearly 400 species of lichen, many of which are rare.

Bayvil (Welsh: Y Beifil) is a hamlet and parish in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is situated in the north of the county, 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of Newport. It is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The parish includes most of the village of Felindre Farchog. Together with the parishes of Monington, Moylgrove and most of Nevern, it constitutes the community of Nevern.

Felindre Farchog (; rough English translation: mill village of the knight, or horseman) is a small village in the community of Nevern in Pembrokeshire, Wales, located around 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Cardigan, and within the parish of Bayvil. The A487 road from Cardigan to Newport runs through the village. The village, on the River Nevern, consists of a few houses (including eight listed buildings, one a former college) and an inn.

St Andrew's Church, Bayvil, is a redundant church standing in an isolated position in the hamlet of Bayvil, some 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the northeast of Nevern, Pembrokeshire, Wales. It has been designated by Cadw as a Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Friends of Friendless Churches. It is listed Grade II* because it is "a scarce rural example of an unaltered Anglican church of its date".
