The James Akey Farm is a historic farmstead near the village of Mount Eaton in southeastern Wayne County, Ohio, United States. Composed of a farmhouse and several significantly newer outbuildings, it was constructed as the home of Irish immigrant James Akey and his family, who moved to the area in the early 19th century and built the present farmhouse in 1822. The farmhouse is primarily a sandstone structure, although with some newer elements of concrete; its roof is made of metal. A plain structure without ornate architectural details, it is a large residence that architectural historians have seen as imposing and highly proportional. Located in a rural valley, the Akey farm is far from any other farmsteads. After a period of Amish ownership, during which most of the present outbuildings were constructed, the farm came under the ownership of the Wilderness Center, and it has accordingly been converted into a museum known as the "Stark Wilderness Center Pioneer Farm." The only Wilderness Center property in southeastern Wayne County, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, due both to its well-preserved historic architecture and its place in local history.

The Wilderness Center (TWC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit nature center that operates its headquarters in Wilmot, Ohio, located in southwest Stark County, Ohio. It includes an interpretive building, astronomy education building, an observation tower, pier and picnic shelters. TWC's 10 miles of trails go through forest, prairie and along streams and creeks and past ponds and Wilderness Lake. TWC also maintains hiking trails on its Zoar Woods satellite property in northeast Tuscarawas County, Ohio. TWC owns or holds conservation easements on other tracts of land throughout a six-county area. TWC preserves these lands in forested or agricultural condition.

Behalt is a 10-by-265-foot (3.0 by 80.8 m) cyclorama painted by Heinz Gaugel in the late 20th century. The name comes from the German word behalten: to hold onto or to remember. The work illustrates the heritage of the Amish and Mennonite people from the beginnings of Christianity and is displayed in the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center in Berlin, Holmes County, Ohio. The Columbus Dispatch said it was the "Sistine Chapel of the Amish and Mennonites". One of four existing cycloramas in the US and one of only 16 in the world, Behalt is the only existing cyclorama painted by a single artist.Anabaptist scholar Susan Biesecker-Mast calls it "an effort to exceed the tourist economy of Holmes County by offering a transformative rhetoric for its visitors." She relates the narrative of the mural's creation as a venture by area religious leaders to retain control of the telling of their own story.

The Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center is located at 5798 County Road 77 near Bunker Hill in Berlin, Holmes County, Ohio. It houses the Behalt cyclorama, one of a handful of remaining cycloramas worldwide and the only one painted by a single artist. The cyclorama presents the history of Anabaptism. The center also houses the Ohio Amish Library and the Zollikon Institute.
