Deptford

Deptford Market (also known as Deptford High Street Market) is a fruit & vegetable and antiques and bric-a-brac market located in Deptford, south east London.

Deptford High Street is a street in the Deptford area of the London Borough of Lewisham in south east London. It runs northwards from its southern junction with New Cross Road/Deptford Broadway (A2) for approximately 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to Evelyn Street/Creek Road (A200). The northern half of the street passes under Deptford railway station, operated by Southeastern, on the North Kent Line. Opened in 1836, and situated upon the London Bridge – Greenwich Railway Viaduct, Deptford station is reputedly the oldest railway station in London.

Deptford is a National Rail station in Deptford in London, England. It is on the North Kent Line, 3 miles 7 chains (5.0 km) down the line from London Bridge, and has staggered platforms on the London Bridge – Greenwich Railway Viaduct, a high brick viaduct on which the line runs at this point above Deptford High Street. It is in Travelcard zone 2.

The Albany is a multi-purpose arts centre in Deptford, south-east London. Facilities include a flexible performance space holding up to 300 seated or 500 standing and a bar, two studio theatres, a performance cafe and rehearsal / meeting rooms. The Albany currently hosts a varied programme of events including music, spoken word, theatre, club nights, and children's shows. Several arts and community organisations are based at the Albany including spoken-word promoters Apples & Snakes and Heart n Soul, who provide opportunities for artists with learning disabilities.

The Lewisham Academy of Music was a walk-in music academy which operated in London from 1980 to 2000.

St Paul's, Deptford, is one of London's finest Baroque parish churches, cited as "one of the most moving C18 churches in London" in the Buildings of England series. It was designed by gentleman architect Thomas Archer and built between 1712 and 1730 in Deptford, which was then a settlement in Kent but is now part of South East London. It was one of the 50 churches that were to be built by the New Church Commissioners, although only 12 were ultimately constructed. With St John's, Smith Square, it was one of two churches designed by Archer to be built under the Act.

Addey and Stanhope School is a voluntary-aided, co-educational secondary school, located in Lewisham, London, England. It is a former grammar school and sixth form, with origins dating to 1606. The headmistress is currently Miss Jan Shapiro.

Deptford Cinema is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, community cinema, art gallery, and occasional music venue, formerly located at 39 Deptford Broadway in the Deptford district of the London Borough of Lewisham. At the time of opening in 2014 it was the borough's only functioning cinema. It has one downstairs screening room with roughly 40 seats, a mixture of traditional velvet movie theatre seating and sofas.

The New Cross house fire was a fire that occurred during a party at a house in New Cross, south-east London, in the early hours of Sunday, 18 January 1981. The blaze killed 13 young black people aged between 14 and 22, and one survivor took his own life two years later.No one has ever been charged in connection with the fire, which forensic science subsequently established started inside the house. Inquests into the deaths were held in 1981 and 2004. Both inquests recorded open verdicts. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, a New Cross Massacre Action Committee (NCMAC) was set up, chaired by John La Rose, which organised a "Black People's Day of Action" on 2 March 1981, when some 20,000 people marched over a period of eight hours through London, carrying placards that bore statements including: "13 Dead, Nothing Said".

Sue Godfrey Nature Park is a small park and local nature reserve in Deptford in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is a mixture of rough grassland, scrub and ruderal plants.The park grew up on wasteland, and was opened in 1984 as Bronze Street Nature Park. It was renamed in 1994 after local environmental campaigner Sue Godfrey, in recognition of the efforts she devoted to the park.More than 200 species of plants have been recorded and there is a wide variety of invertebrates, including grasshoppers, bush-crickets and six species of butterflies.The reserve is located between Bronze Street and Berthon Street; Deptford Church Street is to the west, with St Paul's, Deptford on the other side of the street.

Deptford Bridge is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Deptford, London in England. The station is elevated above both local roads and Deptford Creek, and is adjacent to Lewisham College and Deptford market.

The Waldron Health Centre is a National Health Service (NHS) building next to New Cross railway station in Lewisham, South London, England. It was completed in phases, with the health centre finished in 2008 and final construction ending in 2010.
