Exhibition Park, Newcastle

The North East Coast Exhibition was a world's fair held in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear and ran from May to October 1929. Held five years after the British Empire Exhibition in Wembley Park, London, and at the start of the Great Depression the event was held to encourage local heavy industry.

Castle Leazes is a piece of common land in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is situated in an area which separates Leazes Park and Spital Tongues. It has been in common ownership for over 700 years.This area of land was earmarked as the site of a new stadium by Newcastle United football club in the mid-1990s, when chairman John Hall announced his intention to build a 55,000 seater stadium was planned at a potential cost of £65 million. The planned move proved controversial with the club's supporters and others, and was shelved in favour of expanding St James' Park to over 50,000 seats over the next few years.

Fleming Memorial Hospital was a children's health facility in Abbotsford Terrace, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Princess Mary Maternity Hospital was a health facility in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. It is a Grade II listed building.

Netskills was a training and staff development organisation providing services to help the UK education sector make effective use of technology. Netskills started in 1995 as a project called 'Network Skills for Users of the Electronic Library' and had the mission 'to help the UK higher education community make effective use of the Internet for teaching, research and administration', which it achieved through workshops on topics including 'An Introduction to the Internet', 'Searching for Information on the World Wide Web' and 'An introduction to World Wide Web Authoring'. In 1998 Netskills became a Jisc advisory service, with the new mission 'To be a centre of expertise and knowledge - supporting and enabling the education community to make effective, sustainable use of innovative technology through training, development and consultancy'. At one stage every university in the UK used the service along with over 400 FE colleges and more than 40 library authorities. During 2009 Netskills became one of a number of Jisc Advisory services to become part of Jisc Advance. As Jisc Netskills, the service provided a range of training programmes and expertise on topics such as e-learning, web development, social networking, Web 2.0 technologies, information skills and access management. Some activities were brought in-house by Jisc from 2 January 2015 as part of Jisc Customer Services, nominally marking the closure of the service. By the end of the project almost 1000 individuals were taking part in Netskills training events every year. During its time as a Jisc-funded project, Netskills was based at Newcastle University.

Global Urban Research Unit (GURU) is a research centre established in 2002 at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, Newcastle University, England.

The Centre for Software Reliability (CSR) is a distributed British organisation concerned with software reliability, including safety-critical issues. It consists of two sister organisations based at Newcastle University, UK. and City, University of London, London.Up until August 2016 the centre ran the Safety-Critical Systems Club (SCSC) and the Software Reliability & Metrics Club. Since August 2016 the Safety-Critical Systems Club has been run by the department of Computer Science at the University of York. The Club runs a number of events each year including the annual Safety-Critical Systems Symposium (SSS).CSR was founded in 1984 and has received UK and international research funding. Newcastle University School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Housed in a Grade 2 listed building in the university quadrangle (built in 1913 to a design by WH Knowles and adjacent to the School of Fine Art by the same architect). Its history predates the establishment of the university.

The McCord Centre for Landscape is an interdisciplinary research centre based at Newcastle University, directed by Sam Turner. It is named after Norman McCord, emeritus professor of history at Newcastle University, a pioneer of aerial photography in north-east England. Research in the McCord Centre covers landscapes in the broadest sense, from the physical environment to intangible heritage, and includes archaeologists, historians, geographers, geoscientists and landscape architects. Although the McCord Centre is based in Newcastle, it has members around the world. The Centre promotes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the complex relationships that create landscapes from early prehistory to present. The centre undertakes desk based assessments and surveys for bodies such as English Heritage, and Durham County, academic research, and has hosted several major international conferences.

The Natural History Society of Northumbria (NHSN) is a voluntary organization to promote the study of natural history and protect the wildlife of North East England. Its offices and library are in the Great North Museum: Hancock, whose building, land and collections it owns. It leases them to Newcastle University, on whose behalf they are administered by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums. It possesses a substantial natural history library and archive and maintains the Gosforth Nature Reserve, one of the oldest designated nature reserves in North East England. It also carries out research and provides talks, field trips and educational courses, as well as publishing scientific papers.

The Great North Children's Hospital (GNCH) is a tertiary referral centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The hospital is managed by the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a teaching hospital for the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is one of only 14 such children's hospitals in the United Kingdom.

The Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) is a 673-bed tertiary referral centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The hospital is part of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a teaching hospital for the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
