Newport International Sports Village

Dragon Park (Welsh: Parc y Ddraig) is the Wales National Football Development Centre in the city of Newport, South Wales. The centre is located at the Newport International Sports Village, Lliswerry in the east of Newport near Newport Stadium and the Wales National Velodrome. It was officially opened 20 April 2013 by Michel Platini, President of UEFA. The £5M complex was a joint venture between UEFA, the Football Association of Wales, Sport Wales and Newport City Council.The Centre is intended to develop the Wales under-21, Wales women's and younger age-group squads. The centre includes two grass pitches and one artificial turf pitch. The centre also provides headquarters for the Welsh Football Trust, the game's development body, with analysis suites, sports science laboratories and coach education facilities.

Newport Stadium, also known as Spytty Park, is an association football, rugby and athletics stadium in Newport, South Wales. It is the home of Newport City Football Club, Newport RFC and Newport Harriers Athletic Club. It was previously also used for home matches by Newport County and Albion Rovers football clubs. Newport County continue to use the stadium as a base for youth teams and senior squad training.

The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome, previously known as the Wales National Velodrome, in Newport, South Wales, is an indoor arena located in the Newport International Sports Village, Lliswerry. The Velodrome's facilities including a covered 250-metre Siberian pine track, a function room/dance studio, free weights room, fitness suite, a drug-testing room and a multipurpose indoor sports arena. It has seating for 500 spectators. The Newport Velodrome hosts the Head Office of Welsh Cycling and Newport Velo Youth Cycling Club is based at the centre. An outdoor cycle speedway track home of Newport Cycle Speedway Club is located at the Velodrome. The Velodrome was used by the British track cycling team for its pre-event holding camps ahead of the 2008, 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics.It was announced in August 2018 that the velodrome would be renamed after the UK's third and Wales' first-ever Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas.The velodrome will host the 2022 edition of the British National Track Championships.

Lliswerry Association Football Club is an association football club based in the Lliswerry area of the city of Newport, South Wales. They currently play in the Ardal South East league, the third tier of the Welsh pyramid system. They have in the past played in the Welsh Football League, the previous tier three league.

Lliswerry High School (Welsh: Ysgol Uwchradd Llysweri) is a secondary school in Newport, Wales.

Coleg Gwent (English: Gwent College) is Wales' largest further education college at various locations in the former county of Gwent, South Wales.As of 2014, it has 24,000 students ranging from secondary school leavers to mature students. A wide range of part-time and full-time academic and vocational courses are on offer at the college.

Lliswerry (Welsh: Llyswyry), or Liswerry is an electoral district (ward) and community of the city of Newport, South Wales. The area is governed by Newport City Council. It is the largest community/ward in the city.

Somerton is an area in the south-east of Newport. The northern half of the area is located in the Alway ward with the southern half in the Lliswerry ward – The two halves being separated by the Great Western Main Line. Somerton has a local Primary School and Post Office and is the location of St Patricks RC Church. Somerton is perhaps best known for Somerton Park – the former home of professional football and speedway in Newport with Newport County and the Newport Wasps. The neighbourhood is also home to one of the last remaining 'TARDIS' police boxes in the city – the Somerton TARDIS on Chepstow Road.

St Patrick's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Newport, Wales. It was built from 1962 to 1962 for the Rosminians, who continue to serve the church. It is situated on Cromwell Road near the city centre. Its interior was furnished by Jonah Jones and it is a Grade II listed building.

Newport Retail and Leisure Park (known locally as Spytty Retail Park) is an out-of-town shopping centre in the city of Newport. The centre opened in January 1996, South East Wales. It is located in the Lliswerry area of the city and is accessed via the Southern Distributor Road (which connects to junction 24 of the M4 motorway).

Somerton railway station is a proposed station to serve the Somerton suburb of the city of Newport, Wales. Following the decision by First Minister Mark Drakeford in 2019 to reject the M4 relief road proposal, up to £1.4bn is available through the Welsh Government's borrowing facility for improving infrastructure in and around the M4. Reopenings in Newport have as a result been again debated. The most recent plan, as of October 2023, envisages the station to be situated adjacent to the Somerton Road bridge, with access from Fairfax Road.
