Somerton Park was a football, greyhound racing and speedway stadium in Newport, South Wales.

St Patrick's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Newport, Wales. It was built from 1962 to 1962 for the Rosminians, who continue to serve the church. It is situated on Cromwell Road near the city centre. Its interior was furnished by Jonah Jones and it is a Grade II listed building.

Somerton railway station is a proposed station to serve the Somerton suburb of the city of Newport, Wales. Following the decision by First Minister Mark Drakeford in 2019 to reject the M4 relief road proposal, up to £1.4bn is available through the Welsh Government's borrowing facility for improving infrastructure in and around the M4. Reopenings in Newport have as a result been again debated. The most recent plan, as of October 2023, envisages the station to be situated adjacent to the Somerton Road bridge, with access from Fairfax Road.

Lliswerry (Welsh: Llyswyry), or Liswerry is an electoral district (ward) and community of the city of Newport, South Wales. The area is governed by Newport City Council. It is the largest community/ward in the city.

The Somerton TARDIS is a Police box on Acacia Avenue beside the B4237 road (Chepstow Road) in the Somerton area of Newport, South Wales. This police box is the only remaining one of four that were in Newport. It is a Grade II listed building. Police boxes were deployed in the UK as a police telephone communications point before public telephone boxes were widely available. Patrolling police officers or members of the public could contact the local police station using the telephone accessed via an external flap. Internally, the box was a miniature police station. The Somerton police box has a lamp fixing on top which would flash to indicate an incoming call. The first UK police boxes were deployed in 1888; the familiar 'TARDIS' shape first appeared in 1929. UK police discontinued use of such boxes by 1969 with the advent of police personal radios for mobile communications. The Somerton police box became known in Newport as the TARDIS as a reference to the television series Doctor Who, in which the Doctor's time machine appears as a police box due to its chameleon circuit being stuck. During the 1980s local residents painted a long multi-coloured scarf on the blue police box as worn by the Fourth Doctor, played by actor Tom Baker 1974–1981. The earliest UK police boxes were made of wood, but the Somerton box is a concrete construction. Consequently, it deteriorated over the years, largely due to concrete cancer. In January 2010 a grant of £10,500 was allocated by Cadw to restore the structure as a recognition of its importance as a local landmark. It is a Grade II listed structure. Cadw's listing record locates the box at the junction with Hawthorn Avenue but notes that this "varies through time and space."

Alway is an electoral district (ward) and coterminous community (formerly civil parish) of the city of Newport. The ward is bounded by the Great Western Main Line to the south, Windsor Road, Chepstow Road and Beechwood Road to the west, the M4 motorway to the north, and a line running between Glanwern Grove, Ringwood Hill, Ringland Circle, Aberthaw Road, and Balfe Road to the east. The area is governed by the Newport City Council. The ward contains the Alway estate itself plus Somerton and the eastern fringes of Beechwood around Beechwood Park. It is also home to Ladyhill Reservoir, a 22.5 ML treated water storage facility that serves the east of the city. All the roads in the Alway Estate are named after famous composers.

Beechwood Park is a thirty-acre public park situated in the eastern Beechwood area of the city of Newport, South Wales. The park is listed on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Beechwood is a community (civil parish) and coterminous electoral ward (division) of the city of Newport. The community is bounded by the River Usk to the north, Renoir Road, Beechwood Road, Chepstow Road and Windsor Road to the east, the Great Western Main Line to the south, and Victoria Avenue, Norfolk Road, Avalon Drive, behind Reynolds Close, Badminton Road, and east of The Moorings to the west. The area contains, and is named after Beechwood Park.

Newport Stadium, also known as Spytty Park, is an association football, rugby and athletics stadium in Newport, South Wales. It is the home of Newport City Football Club, Newport RFC and Newport Harriers Athletic Club. It was previously also used for home matches by Newport County and Albion Rovers football clubs. Newport County continue to use the stadium as a base for youth teams and senior squad training.

The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome, previously known as the Wales National Velodrome, in Newport, South Wales, is an indoor arena located in the Newport International Sports Village, Lliswerry. The Velodrome's facilities including a covered 250-metre Siberian pine track, a function room/dance studio, free weights room, fitness suite, a drug-testing room and a multipurpose indoor sports arena. It has seating for 500 spectators. The Newport Velodrome hosts the Head Office of Welsh Cycling and Newport Velo Youth Cycling Club is based at the centre. An outdoor cycle speedway track home of Newport Cycle Speedway Club is located at the Velodrome. The Velodrome was used by the British track cycling team for its pre-event holding camps ahead of the 2008, 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics.It was announced in August 2018 that the velodrome would be renamed after the UK's third and Wales' first-ever Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas.The velodrome will host the 2022 edition of the British National Track Championships.

Royal Ordnance Factory Newport, commonly known as ROF Newport, was a World War II munitions factory in Wales that produced guns. The factory began construction in 1940 and was completed within a year, producing its first weapons by January 1941. The site employed around 2,000 people during the war in the manufacture of anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons; one of the main weapons built at the factory was the Bofors 40 mm gun. Laura Knight's wartime painting Ruby Loftus Screwing a Breech Ring was created at the site, with factory worker Ruby Loftus being the subject.

Lliswerry Association Football Club is an association football club based in the Lliswerry area of the city of Newport, South Wales. They currently play in the Ardal South East league, the third tier of the Welsh pyramid system. They have in the past played in the Welsh Football League, the previous tier three league.
