The Taiwan–Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council (THEC; Chinese: 財團法人臺港經濟文化合作策進會; pinyin: Cáituán Fǎrén Tái–Gǎng Jīngjì Wénhuà Hézuò Cèjìn Huì) represents the Government of Taiwan in talks with Hong Kong, through its counterpart the Hong Kong–Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council (ECCPC).The THEC was set up in May 2010 in a symbiotic relationship with the Hong Kong ECCPC, similar to that between bodies representing Taiwan and mainland China in cross-strait talks, under a slightly hands-off approach that is often known as the "white glove" policy. The two councils, both with participation by high-ranking ministers, are incorporated as legal entities but will be authorised by the two governments to sign pacts. The two bodies were established against a background of strengthened Hong Kong-Taiwan links and trade, which match improved China-Taiwan relations. The THEC has two major committees, one on cultural and one on economic co-operation. This reflects Taiwan's broadbrush approach to its relationship with Hong Kong, and contrasts with the narrower business focus of the Hong Kong side.

The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. Until the constitutional amendments of 1991, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house) formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 legislators, which are directly elected by people of the Free Area through a parallel voting system for 4-year terms (previously, the Legislative Yuan had 759 members representing each province, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and other professions). Like parliaments or congresses of other countries, the Legislative Yuan is responsible for the passage of legislation, which is then sent to the President for signing. For these similarities, it is also common for people to refer to the Legislative Yuan as "the parliament" (國會; Guóhuì; Kok-hōe). Under the current amended Constitution and in accordance with the separation of powers, the Legislative Yuan, as the only parliamentary body, also holds the power to initiate several constitutional processes, including initiating constitutional amendments (then determined by a national referendum), recalls of the President (then determined by a recall vote), and impeachments of the President (then judged by the Constitutional Court).

The Sunflower Student Movement is associated with a protest movement driven by a coalition of students and civic groups that came to a head between March 18 and April 10, 2014, in the Legislative Yuan and, later, also the Executive Yuan of Taiwan. The activists protested the passing of the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement (CSSTA) by the then ruling party Kuomintang (KMT) at the legislature without clause-by-clause review. The Sunflower protesters perceived the trade pact with the People's Republic of China (China; PRC) would hurt Taiwan's economy and leave it vulnerable to political pressure from Beijing, while advocates of the treaty argued that increased Chinese investment would provide a necessary boost to Taiwan's economy, that the still-unspecified details of the treaty's implementation could be worked out favorably for Taiwan, and that to "pull out" of the treaty by not ratifying it would damage Taiwan's international credibility. The protesters initially demanded the clause-by-clause review of the agreement be reinstated, later changing their demands toward the rejection of the trade pact, the passing of legislation allowing close monitoring of future agreements with China, and citizen conferences discussing constitutional amendment. While the Kuomintang was open to a line-by-line review at a second reading of the agreement, the party rejected the possibility that the pact be returned for a committee review. The KMT backed down later, saying that a joint review committee could be formed if the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) agreed to participate in the proceedings. This offer was rejected by the DPP, who asked for a review committee on all cross-strait pacts, citing "mainstream public opinion." In turn, the DPP proposal was turned down by the KMT.The movement marked the first time that the Legislative Yuan had been occupied by citizens.

The National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH; Chinese: 國立台灣大學醫學院附設醫院; pinyin: Guólì Táiwān Dàxué Yīxuéyuàn Fùshè Yīyuàn) is a medical facility located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei, Taiwan. It started operations under Japanese rule in Daitōtei (today's Dadaocheng) on 18 June 1895, and moved to its present location in 1898. The hospital was later annexed to the Medical School of Taihoku Imperial University in 1937. The present name was adopted in 1945 upon its affiliation with National Taiwan University. On 19 October 1991, a large new building complex on the so-called East Site was completed. The (new) East and (old) West Sites together have more than 4,000 employees, serving 2,000 inpatients and 8,000 outpatients daily. Advanced surgical, angiographical, and endoscopic procedures are routinely performed.

The Bureau of Mines (BOM; Chinese: 經濟部礦務局; pinyin: Jīngjì Bù Kuàng Wù Jú) is the government agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI; traditional Chinese: 國家電影及視聽文化中心; simplified Chinese: 国家电影及视听文化中心; pinyin: Guójiā Diànyǐng Jí Shìtīng Wénhuà Zhōngxīn; lit. 'National Film and Audiovisual Culture Center'), formerly Taiwan Film Institute (TFI; traditional Chinese: 國家電影中心; simplified Chinese: 国家电影中心; pinyin: Guójiā Diànyǐng Zhōngxīn; lit. 'National Film Center'), is a foundation in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan, that aims to preserve Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese films. At its establishment in 1979, the foundation was known as the Film Library of the Motion Picture Development Foundation. It became the National Film Archive in 1989, and the Chinese Taipei Film Archive later.

The Museum of Medical Humanities (traditional Chinese: 醫學人文博物館; simplified Chinese: 医学人文博物馆; pinyin: Yīxué Rénwén Bówùguǎn) of National Taiwan University (NTU) is a museum about medical humanities at the NTU College of Medicine campus in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan.

The Insect Science Museum (traditional Chinese: 昆蟲科學博物館; simplified Chinese: 昆虫科学博物馆; pinyin: Kūnchóng Kēxué Bówùguǎn) is a museum of insects in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The museum is located at Cheng Kung Senior High School and it is one of the largest insect science museums in Asia.
