Gasselterboerveenschemond () is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 21 km east of Assen. It is the longest placename of the Netherlands that is written as one word. With 25 characters it is just one character larger than Gasselternijveenschemond, which lies a few kilometres from Gasselterboerveenschemond. The statistical area "Gasselterboerveenschemond", which also includes the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 40.On 18 July 2011 there was a huge fire in the only chicken farm of Gasselterboerveenschemond, in which 170,000 chickens died.

Nieuwediep is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 20 km east of Assen. The village was first mentioned in 1913 as Nieuwe diep (Het), and means "new canal". It can be used both for the canal and the village. The canal was dug in the middle of the 19th century to excavate the peat in the area. The school in the village closed down in 1995, and is currently in use as village house.

Bareveld (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbaː.rəˌvɛlt]; Gronings: Boareveld) is a Dutch village on the border of the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe. The Drenthe part of the village belongs to the municipality of Aa en Hunze, the Groningen part of the village has been added to the municipality of Veendam. It is located on the N33, in between the linear villages of Eexterveenschekanaal and Nieuwediep. The Groningen part has 380 inhabitants (2004) and is administratively part of the built-up area of the village of Wildervank, and is therefore no longer always seen as a real part of Bareveld. Only the part that falls under the municipality of Aa and Hunze has its own place name sign.
