River Esk (Solway Firth)

The River Lyne is a river of Cumbria in England. The river is formed near the hamlet of Stapleton, five miles west of Bewcastle, by the confluence of the Black Lyne (moving from the north) and the White Lyne (from northeast). Both branches have sources in the remote north east of Cumbria in Kershope Forest close to the borders with Scotland and Northumberland, with the Black Lyne having its source at Blacklyne Common and the White Lyne at Whitelyne Common. After the meeting of the waters, the river continues in a west-by-south-westerly direction to Lynefoot, where it flows into the Border Esk.

Metal Bridge is a small settlement in Cumbria, England between Carlisle and Gretna, formerly on the main A74 road. The settlement consists of a few properties clustered around a public house (now a restaurant) of the same name, on the south bank of the River Esk. The settlement and pub (and nearby forest plantation) derive their name from the Thomas Telford designed metal bridge that spanned the river at this point on the road to Scotland.The M6 motorway extension opened in December 2008 and bypasses the village, replacing the A74 road dual carriageway as the main route across the Scottish border.

Floriston railway station was a station which served the rural area around Floristonrigg, Rockcliffe Parish, south of Gretna in the English county of Cumberland (now part of Cumbria). It was served by local trains on what is now known as the West Coast Main Line. The nearest station for Floriston is now at Carlisle.

Located north of Carlisle, nestled between the border city and Gretna, Todhills is so small that it really is known as a hamlet and not a village. Amongst the houses there is a pub, a post box and a telephone box.

Rockcliffe Cross is a village in the parish of Rockcliffe, in the City of Carlisle district of the county of Cumbria, England.

Rockcliffe is a village and civil parish in the City of Carlisle district of Cumbria, England. Part of the parish is a marshy peninsula between the mouths of the rivers Esk and Eden. The parish includes the settlements of Rockcliffe, Rockcliffe Cross, Floristonrigg, Todhills, Low Harker and Harker. Rockcliffe formerly had a railway station, on the Caledonian Railway Main Line, that closed in 1965. Another station was located nearby at Floriston that closed in 1950.

Todhills Rest Area is a rest area in between Junctions 44 and 45 of the M6 motorway in England. It is the last Services northbound on the M6 and the first southbound. It was first opened in the 1980s on the A74. When the M6 was extended in 2008, it was initially believed that Todhills would need to close so the road could be widened, but this did not prove to be the case, and the widening scheme was completed without having to close the rest area.

Rockcliffe railway station, later Rockcliffe Halt was a station which served the rural area around Rockcliffe, Rockcliffe parish, north of Carlisle in the English county of Cumberland (now part of Cumbria). It was served by local trains on what is now known as the West Coast Main Line. The nearest station for Rockcliffe is now at Carlisle. It lay some distance from the village.

Lyneside railway station served the hamlet of West Linton, Cumbria, England, from 1861 to 1964 on the Waverley Line.

Parkhouse Halt railway station was built for the nearby RAF Kingstown (later RAF Carlisle) from 1941 to 1969 on the Waverley Line.
