Holman was a stop on the Ilwaco Railway and Navigation Company's narrow gauge line that ran on the Long Beach Peninsula in Pacific County, Washington, USA from 1889 to 1930. Development in the area began when James Duval Holman. received a donation land claim on the west side of what is now Ilwaco.

The World Kite Museum is a museum in Long Beach, Washington. First opened to the public on August 21, 1990, in a converted beach cottage acquired by the city. It opened with a collection of over 700 kites, exhibiting Japanese, Chinese, and Malaysian kites. It has grown to include galleries and exhibits on rotation with kites, models, and archives from around the world. The American Kitefliers Association combined their archives with the museum's in the late 1990s. The collection ranges from modern creations back to antiquity, and claims to have the most complete collection of Japanese kites outside of Japan. In 2005 the museum purchased a two-story building that currently houses over 1500 kites from 26 countries around the world. The museum sponsors and hosts the Washington State International Kite Festival held annually in the city since 1981. The museum also sponsors the Windless Kite Festival, an indoor kite event held annually since 2001, and the One Sky One World International Kite Fly For Peace event held annually since 1985, in addition to other community events.

World's Largest Frying Pan, also known as Washington's Largest Frying Pan, is a public sculpture of a frying pan in Long Beach, Washington. It was created in 1941 by the Northwest Copper and Sheet Metal Works. It is not actually the world's largest frying pan, although it is the only large frying pan that has been used to cook food. It is also older than all other frying pans that claim to be the largest, making it the World's Oldest Largest Frying Pan.

The Colbert House is a historic house museum owned by Washington State Parks and located in Ilwaco, Washington, at the corner of Quaker and Lake streets. The house was originally built in 1872 and was moved to its current site in 1883. The house was owned by a fishery and cannery family, Frederick and Catherine (Petit) Colbert and descendants, and was restored in 1994 to a late 19th-century appearance with Colbert family furnishings and decorative items. Following its restoration, the house was operated by Cape Disappointment State Park as a historic house museum that was open by appointment only. In 2009, the Long Beach Area Parks Management Plan deemed the operation of the building as a house museum to be "not feasible at this time" and that "State Parks will preserve the building until such time as a feasible and sustainable use becomes apparent."Colbert House is a Washington State Parks Heritage Site and on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ilwaco ( il-WAH-koh) is a city in Pacific County, Washington, United States. The population was 936 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1890, the city was home to the Ilwaco Railway and Navigation Company along the Long Beach Peninsula, with its core economy based on logging and timber rafting. The city is located on the southern edge of the Long Beach Peninsula, on Baker Bay on the north side of the Columbia River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. It is near the city of Astoria, Oregon, which lies to the southeast on the southern bank of the Columbia.

Breakers Station was a mail and passenger stop on the Ilwaco Railway and Navigation Company line on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington. It was originally called Tioga. In 1917 it was listed as a town 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Long Beach, Washington. Resort subdivision and Ilwaco railroad station at the north boundary of the town of Long Beach in the 1890s and early 1900s. The Tioga Hotel was the main focus of the resort and gave the railroad station its name. The surrounding beach was lined with vacation cottages and tents. J. M. Arthur, proprietor of the hotel, later built the Breakers Hotel (north of the Tioga Hotel) in 1901. Tioga is an Iroquois word meaning "where it forks". The hotel and station are long gone. Tioga is now within the city limits of Long Beach. The name is no longer found on maps. The stop at the Breakers Hotel north of Long Beach was called "Breakers Station." There had been two hotels at this location, both built by Joseph M. Arthur, and both named the Breakers Hotel. The first Breakers Hotel, built in 1901, burned down in 1904. The second one, pictured in the images here, replaced it. The image at right shows the Breakers Hotel from the beach side looking east. The hotel was built just behind a sand dune, and the rail line ran between the hotel and the trees in the background. A promotional postcard for the second Breakers Hotel advertised it as the "social center of the summer season," with the "best ladies' orchestra," a "large dancing pavilion," and "practically fire-proof." Guests were encouraged to "buy your ticket and check your baggage at any O.R.& N Co. Ticket Office direct to Breakers Station"As of 2017 a fourth hotel occupies the location.

Clark's Tree is a bronze memorial sculpture in Long Beach, Washington commemorating Lewis and Clark's journey across North America. It sits on a dune above the Pacific Ocean beach at Breakers near where Clark carved a message on a living tree to establish United States precedence of discovery and occupation in what was then the Oregon Country. The memorial was created by Stanley Wanlass, a sculptor educated at Brigham Young University. The sculpture marks the westernmost and northernmost point of Lewis and Clark's journey on the Pacific coast.The sculpture was built in Clarkston, then barged down the Columbia River in 2003 with stops for public viewing in Richland, Hood River, Portland and Vancouver, then into the Pacific Ocean to reach Long Beach. In the process the sculpture was nearly lost at sea, according to Wanlass.Another marker with the same name was constructed in 1932 at 3rd and Pacific in Long Beach's downtown area.

North Head Lighthouse is an active aid to navigation overlooking the Pacific Ocean from North Head, a rocky promontory located approximately two miles north of Cape Disappointment and the mouth of the Columbia River, near Ilwaco, Pacific County, in the U.S. state of Washington. It is part of Cape Disappointment State Park.

Cape Disappointment is a headland of the Pacific Northwest, located at the extreme southwestern corner of Washington, United States, on the north side of the Columbia River bar and just west of Baker Bay. The point of the cape is located on the Pacific Ocean in Washington's Pacific County, approximately two miles (3.2 km) southwest of the town of Ilwaco. Cape Disappointment sees about 2,552 hours of fog a year—the equivalent of 106 days—making it one of the foggiest places in the U.S.The cape was named on July 6, 1788, by British fur trader John Meares, who was sailing south from Nootka Island, Canada, in search of trade. He mistook the mouth of the Columbia River for a bay, which the ship could not enter due to a shallow shoal. Just missing the discovery of the river mentioned by Francisco Antonio Mourelle, he named them Cape Disappointment and Deception Bay. George Vancouver credits John Meares in his account when he saw Cape Disappointment on April 27, 1792.Cape Disappointment State Park is located on the cape, as is the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. United States Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment is situated on the river near the state park. The station's crewmembers respond to 300–400 calls for assistance every year.

Cape Disappointment State Park (formerly Fort Canby State Park) is a public recreation area on Cape Disappointment, located southwest of Ilwaco, Washington, on the bottom end of Long Beach Peninsula, the northern headlands where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. The state park's 2,023 acres (819 ha) encompass a diverse landscape of old-growth forest, freshwater lakes, freshwater and saltwater marshes, and oceanside tidelands. Park sites include Fort Canby, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, North Head Lighthouse, and Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Cape Disappointment is one of several state parks and sites in Washington and Oregon that are included in Lewis and Clark National Historical Park.
