Lindhurst High School

The Lindhurst High School shooting was a school shooting and subsequent siege that occurred on May 1, 1992, at Lindhurst High School in Olivehurst, California, United States. The gunman, 20-year-old Eric Houston, was a former student at Lindhurst High School. Houston killed three students and one teacher and wounded nine students and a teacher before surrendering to police. Houston was sentenced to death for the murders, and he is currently on California's death row in San Quentin State Prison.

Arboga is an unincorporated community in Yuba County, California. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km), south of Olivehurst on the Sacramento Northern Railroad, at an elevation of 56 feet (17 m). It was named in 1911 by the pastor of the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden for his hometown of Arboga, Sweden.During World War II, a temporary detention camp for Japanese Americans evicted from the West Coast by Executive Order 9066 was located here. The Marysville Assembly Center opened on May 8, 1942, and held 2,465 people before closing on June 29, when the residents were transferred to the more permanent and isolated concentration camp at Tule Lake, California.A post office operated at Arboga from 1912 to 1926.

The Yuba River is a tributary of the Feather River in the Sierra Nevada and eastern Sacramento Valley, in the U.S. state of California. The main stem of the river is about 40 miles (64 km) long, and its headwaters are split into three major forks. The Yuba River proper is formed at the North Yuba and Middle Yuba rivers' confluence, with the South Yuba joining a short distance downstream. Measured to the head of the North Yuba River, the Yuba River is just over 100 miles (160 km) long. The river drains 1,345 square miles (3,480 km2), mostly in the western slope and foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The average runoff of the Yuba River basin is approximately 2,303,000 acre-feet (2.841 km3) per year, providing about one-third of the flow of the Feather River, and 10 percent of the flow of the Sacramento River, which the Feather ultimately drains into. Since the early 20th century, irrigation and hydropower diversion projects have gradually reduced the river's flow. The river's name comes from the local tribe, the Nisenan, word for "waterway," 'uba seo. It is spelled in early records as Yubu and applied to the river by 1844. Some claim the name is a variant of Spanish uba or uva, referring to grapes found growing along the banks of the river.

Marysville station was the last passenger rail station to operate in Marysville, California. The depot was a stop on the Southern Pacific Shasta Route until their services here were stopped in 1958. Passenger trains to the city ceased in 1970 when the original California Zephyr was discontinued. Amtrak's formation in 1971 left Marysville out of the nation's "basic system," but a California Senate Joint Resolution from 1974 requested that the Coast Starlight be rerouted through Sacramento including a stop in Marysville. Despite opposition from Southern Pacific, service began on April 25, 1982. Amtrak ceased operating at the station by November 1999, as the service was rerouted over the shorter Sacramento Subdivision. The former Marysville Western Pacific Depot on that line was not reactivated, ending service to the city. Union Pacific continues to use the station building as a field office.

The Marysville Historic Commercial District, in Marysville, California, is a 23-acre (9.3 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.The district included 59 contributing buildings and 27 non-contributing ones, on parts of 14 blocks. It is roughly bounded by First, Sixth, C, and E Streets.It includes Mission/Spanish Revival and Italianate architecture.

The Packard Library is a historic library building located at 301 4th St. in Marysville, California. Built in 1905–06, the library was sponsored by John Q. Packard and designed by San Francisco architect William Curlett. Curlett designed the library in the Italianate and Beaux-Arts styles. The three-story building features verandahs on the east and west sides. The verandahs are supported by rectangular columns, and their roof lines are decorated with acanthus leaves. The library operated until 1977, when it was replaced by the new Yuba County Library.The library was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 18, 1978.

The Hart Building, at 423-425 4th St. in Marysville, California, was built in 1927. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It has also been known as the Brown Building and as the Nagler Building.It is Maryville's only skyscraper.It was built for the Hart Brothers, of Sacramento, California. It was designed by architects Dean & Dean and built by Sacramento general contractor George Hudnutt.
