The Han-Lai New World Center (traditional Chinese: 漢來新世界中心; simplified Chinese: 汉来新世界中心; pinyin: Hànlái Xīn Shìjiè Zhōngxīn) is a skyscraper located in Cianjin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It is the eleventh tallest building in Taiwan and the third tallest in Kaohsiung (after 85 Sky Tower and Chang-Gu World Trade Center). The height of the building is 186 m, the floor area is 146,708.01m2, and it comprises 42 floors above ground, as well as 7 basement levels. Occupants include Hanshin Department Store and the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel.

Central Park (traditional Chinese: 中央公園; simplified Chinese: 中央公园; pinyin: Zhōngyāng Gōngyuán; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tiong-iong Kong-hn̂g) is a park in Cianjin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The park is an oasis of greenery in the midst of a heavily built-up urban area.

Shinkuchan (Chinese: 新堀江; pinyin: Xīnkūjīang) is a car-free shopping, eating and entertainment district of Kaohsiung. Shinkuchan is a collection of several streets and alleys and is packed with boutique clothing shops and restaurants along with many stalls selling food, snacks, and drinks. Shinkuchan shops and stalls start to open mid-afternoon and the neighbourhood has many small alleys with small houses that have been turned into places to eat.

The Xin-Fu-Hwa (Chinese: 馨馥華大樓; pinyin: Xīn fù huá dàlóu), is a residential skyscraper located in Sinsing District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Construction of the building began in 1998 and it was one of the tallest residential buildings in Kaohsiung when it was completed in 2000. The height of the building is 149 m (489 ft), and it comprises 41 floors above ground. The building is located close to Kaohsiung Central Park, with a view of the cityscape of Kaohsiung on its top floors.

The Glory Pier (traditional Chinese: 光榮碼頭; simplified Chinese: 光荣码头; pinyin: Guāngróng Mǎtóu) is a pier at the river mouth of Love River in Lingya District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Kaohsiung (Mandarin Chinese: [káʊɕjʊ̌ŋ] ; Wade–Giles: Kao¹-hsiung²; Pinyin: Gāoxióng), officially Kaohsiung City, is a special municipality located in southern Taiwan. It ranges from the coastal urban center to the rural Yushan Range with an area of 2,952 km2 (1,140 sq mi). Kaohsiung City has a population of approximately 2.73 million people as of October 2023 and is Taiwan's third most populous city and largest city in southern Taiwan.Since it was founded in the 17th century, Kaohsiung has grown from a small trading village into the political and economic centre of southern Taiwan, with key industries such as manufacturing, steel-making, oil refining, freight transport and shipbuilding. It is classified as a "Gamma −" level global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, with some of the most prominent infrastructures in Taiwan. Kaohsiung is of strategic importance to the nation as the city is the main port city of Taiwan; the Port of Kaohsiung is the largest and busiest harbor in Taiwan and more than 67% of the nation's exports and imports container throughput goes through Kaohsiung. Kaohsiung International Airport is the second busiest airport in number of passengers in Taiwan. The city is well-connected to other major cities by high speed and conventional rail, as well as several national freeways. It also hosts the Republic of China Navy fleet headquarters and its naval academy. More recent public works such as Pier-2 Art Center, National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts and Kaohsiung Music Center have been aimed at growing the tourism and cultural industries of the city.

The Holy Rosary Cathedral (Chinese: 前金天主堂; pinyin: qiánjīn tiānzhǔ táng; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: cheng-kim thian-chu tong; officially called Chinese: 玫瑰聖母聖殿主教座堂) is the oldest Catholic church in Taiwan, located in Lingya District, Kaohsiung, just east of the Love River. It is the seat of the Bishop of Kaohsiung.

The Diocese of Kaohsiung (Lat: Dioecesis Kaohsiungensis) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in Taiwan. The diocese has the distinction of being the first Catholic ecclesiastical territory erected on the island of Taiwan. Created as the Apostolic Prefecture of the Island of Formosa in 1913, the name was changed to the Apostolic Prefecture of Kaohsiung in 1949. In 1961, the Prefecture was elevated to a full diocese, and became a suffragan to the Archdiocese of Taipei. The current bishop is Peter Liu Cheng-chung, appointed in January 2006. In November 2009, he was given the "ad personam" (personal) title of archbishop by Pope Benedict XVI.
