Plainville is a village in Adams County, Illinois, United States. The population was 271 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Quincy, IL–MO Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Adams is a census-designated place in Burton Township, Adams County, Illinois, United States. Adams is about 13 miles (21 km) southeast of Quincy. Adams was laid out in 1838.

Fall Creek Stone Arch Bridge is located near the Adams County town of Payson, Illinois. It spans Fall Creek about 1.2 miles northeast of Payson Road, upstream from the town. The bridge has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 7, 1996.

Fall Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Fall Creek Township, Adams County, Illinois, United States. Fall Creek is located along Interstate 172 southwest of Payson. Fall Creek takes its name from a nearby creek of the same name, which was named for a waterfall along its course. A post office called Falls Creek was established in 1861, and closed in 1866. The post office was reestablished in 1872, the name was changed to Fallcreek in 1894, and the post office was discontinued in 1909.

The location is adjacent to the Pike-Adams county line on the Mississippi floodplain two miles east of the Mississippi River and northeast of East Hannibal. Fall Creek is approximately 1.5 miles to the northeast. The Burlington Northern Railroad line passes by the community.
