The Medemblik steam museum or officially the Netherlands Steam Engine Museum is a historical and science museum in Medemblik, North Holland, the Netherlands. Since 1985 the museum is located in a former pumping station, which was built in 1869 and decommissioned in 1979. The pumping station's installations are mostly still present and partly functioning. The museum is an anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage, and the building and parts its interior are registered as a Rijksmonument, a national heritage site.

Middenmeer is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is part of the municipality of Hollands Kroon, and lies about 23 km north of Hoorn. Middenmeer was established in 1932 under the name of Sluis III. Nearby the village was a military airfield Middenmeer in WO II used by the Ie Verkenningsgroep of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Now Middenmeer has an airfield for light and ultra light airplanes, Middenmeer Aerodrome. On 1 July 1941, the Wieringermeer became a municipality and its first mayor was ir. S. Smeding. On 17 April 1945, the dikes of the Wieringermeer polder were blown up by the German occupying forces and the Wieringermeer was inundated. Middenmeer as well as neighboring villages had to be evacuated. On 11 December 1945 the polder was dry again.

De Weere (West Frisian: De Weare) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Opmeer, and lies about 10 km northwest of Hoorn. The village was first mentioned in 1680 as De Weeren, and means "enclosed land". It refers to the ditches which enclose the polder.The Catholic St Lambertus Church was built between 1905 and 1907. In 1963, exterminators tried to remove longhorn beetles using gasoline, and the church burnt down. The damage was repaired by December 1964.De Weere was home to 526 people in 1840. It used to belong to three municipalities. In 1978, all parts were merged into Opmeer.
