Windham County, Vermont

The Windham Senate District is one of 16 districts of the Vermont Senate. The current district plan is included in the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2020 U.S. Census, which applies to legislatures elected in 2022, 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030. The Windham District includes all of Windham County except the town of Wilmington. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 30 Senators, there were 20,294 residents per senator. The Windham District had a population of 41,991 in that same census. The district is apportioned two senators. This equals 20,996 residents per senator, 3.46% above the state average.

Newfane is the shire town (county seat) of Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,645 at the 2020 census. The town includes the villages of Newfane, Williamsville, and South Newfane.

The Windham-6 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one- or two-member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Windham-6 District includes all of the Windham County towns of Marlboro, Newfane, and Townshend. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Windham-6 District had a population of 3,807 in that same census, 6.21% below the state average.

South Newfane is an unincorporated village in the town of Newfane, Windham County, Vermont, United States. The community is located along the Rock River 4.1 miles (6.6 km) southwest of the village of Newfane.

The South Newfane Bridge is a historic bridge, carrying Parish Hill Road across the Rock River in the village of South Newfane, Vermont. It is a Pratt through truss span, manufactured from rolled I-beams in 1939 to replace a bridge washed away in flooding. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Williamsville Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge, carrying Dover Road over the Rock River in Newfane, Vermont. Probably built in the 1870s, this Town lattice truss bridge is probably the oldest covered bridge in Windham County, and is the only one surviving in the town of Newfane. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Townshend State Park is a state park in Townshend, Vermont. Embedded within Townshend State Forest, the park provides a camping facility and hiking trails for accessing Bald Mountain. The park's facilities were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places for their well-preserved state.

Townshend State Forest covers 1,106 acres (4.48 km2) in Townshend, Vermont in Windham County. The forest is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation and surrounds 18-acre Townshend State Park, which hosts trails and camping facilities. Activities in the forest include hiking, snowshoeing and hunting.

The Follett Stone Arch Bridge Historic District encompasses a group of four stone arch bridges in southwestern Townshend, Vermont. All four bridges were built by James Otis Follett, a local self-taught mason, between 1894 and 1910, and represent the single greatest concentration of surviving bridges he built. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Williamsville is an unincorporated community in the town of Newfane in Windham County, Vermont, United States. Rock River passes through the community, which lies in the Green Mountains. Scott Covered Bridge is a covered bridge spanning the West River in Townshend, Vermont. Built in 1870, it is at 277 feet (84 m) one of the longest covered bridges in the state (the West Dummerston Covered Bridge is longer), exhibiting three different forms of support: a Town lattice truss, kingpost trusses, and laminated arches. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is closed to all traffic.
