McKinney High School

McKinney is a city in and the county seat of Collin County, Texas. It is Collin County's third-largest city, after Plano and Frisco. A suburb of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, McKinney is about 32 miles (51 km) north of Dallas. The U.S. Census Bureau listed McKinney as the nation's fastest-growing city from 2000 to 2003 and again in 2006, among cities with more than 50,000 people. In 2007, it was ranked second-fastest-growing among cities with more than 100,000 people and in 2008 as third-fastest. In the 2010 census, the city's population was 131,117, making it Texas's 19th-most populous city. The population estimate produced by the city as of 2019 was 199,177, which made it Texas's 16th most populous city. In 2020, its population was 195,308. As of May 2017, McKinney was the third-fastest-growing city in the United States.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is located in McKinney, Texas, approximately 30 miles north of Dallas. The church was designated a mission church in 1876, when services were held in private homes and offices. In 1890 the mission was elevated to the status of a parish, and in 1893 the original frame church was completed, on the site of the present church. A new sanctuary was built in 1926. In 1960 a fire destroyed the sanctuary and other valuables, and the current church building was built the next year, and extended in 1997. The church's Rector is the Rev. Perry E. Mullins.

The Heard-Craig House is a historic house in McKinney, Texas, U.S.. It was built for Stephen and Lillian Heard in 1900. The house has 7,000 square feet and four floors. In 1970, Kathryn Heard-Craig gifted the house to multiple arts organizations as a place to convene and educate. In addition to an education hub, the center is also a Regional Art Museum boasting a large collection of Texas Regional Art. Notable artists include Frank Earl Klepper, Allie Tenant, Thomas Stell, Guy Wiggins, Bruce Crane, and more. The center also showcases the work of local McKinney artists including Nancy Alexander, Kim Guthrie, Don Chesser, Judy Osentowski, and Mecha Via. Each April, the center hosts a stunning exhibit called, ART MEETS FLORAL, that showcases floral arrangements that replicate paintings. Tickets for all Heard-Craig Center events can be found at www.heardcraig.org The house was designed in the Queen Anne style by architect James E. Flanders. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 8, 1987. The front lobby has beautiful fretwork and there is a One-Of-A-Kind China Cabinet in the dining room. The china cabinet has two concave doors and three convex doors and is built under the staircase. Most all of the rooms in the house have stained glass windows. The Garden leads to a two-story Carriage House used for weddings, parties, bridal showers, and club meetings.It is a two-story frame building with a hipped roof.

Serenity High School is the oldest substance-abuse recovery public high school in Texas. It was founded in 1999 as a partnership between the McKinney Independent School District and the Avenues Counseling Center in McKinney, Texas, and serves several school districts in and around Collin County, Texas. As of November 2008, it has served over 150 graduates from over 25 high schools.The school was rated Academically Acceptable in the 2009 TEA accountability rating.

Collin College is a public community college district in Texas. Founded in 1985, the district has grown as the county has grown from around 5,000 students in 1986 to more than 58,800 credit and noncredit students.Formerly known as the Collin County Community College District, CCCCD, or CCCC, the college rebranded itself "Collin College" in March 2007. The district headquarters is in the Collin Higher Education Center in McKinney. As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official service area of Collin College includes all of Collin County and Rockwall County and the portions of Denton County within the cities of Frisco and The Colony and the portions included within the Celina and Prosper school districts.

Founded in 1967, the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary is located in McKinney, Texas, United States. With a 289-acre wildlife sanctuary, five miles of hiking trails, about fifty acres of wetlands, a two-acre native plant garden, a butterfly house, live animals, indoor and outdoor exhibits, the Heard welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually. The Heard is one of the most important attractions in the City of McKinney.

Texas's 3rd congressional district of the United States House of Representatives is in the suburban areas north and northeast of Dallas. It encompasses much of Collin County, including McKinney, as well as parts of Plano and Frisco, and Prosper. Additionally, the district includes all but the southern portion of Hunt County. The district is also home to the public college Collin College. Texas has had at least three congressional districts since 1869. The current seat dates from a mid-decade redistricting conducted before the 1966 elections after Texas's original 1960s map was thrown out by Wesberry v. Sanders. In past configurations, it has been one of the most Republican districts in both Texas and the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The GOP has held the seat since a 1968 special election. The district's current congressman is Van Taylor. As of the 2010 census, the 3rd district represents 765,486 people who are predominantly middle-to-upper-class (median family income is US$80,912). The district is 59.1 percent White (non-Hispanic), 15.06 percent Hispanic or Latino (of any race), 13 percent Asian, and 8.9 percent Black or African American.

Fairview is a town in Collin County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. As of the 2017 census, the town population was 8,950. The estimated population in 2018 was 9,092. The town is adjacent to the 289-acre (1.17 km2) Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary.

McKinney North High School (commonly known as North, McKinney North, or MNHS) is a public secondary school located on 2550 Wilmeth Road in McKinney, Texas, US. The school is part of the McKinney Independent School District. Mckinney North currently holds the most zoned space in McKinney. McKinney North High School opened to its first freshman class in the year 2000. North was also recently updated to a "recognized" status via the TEA.

McKinney Boyd High School (commonly Boyd, Boyd High School, McKinney Boyd, or MBHS) is a public secondary school located on North Lake Forest Drive in McKinney, Texas, United States, that serves ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students. The class of 2008 was the school's first graduating class. The school is part of the McKinney Independent School District.
