Texas's 3rd congressional district of the United States House of Representatives is in the suburban areas north and northeast of Dallas. It encompasses much of Collin County, including McKinney, as well as parts of Plano and Frisco, and Prosper. Additionally, the district includes all but the southern portion of Hunt County. The district is also home to the public college Collin College. Texas has had at least three congressional districts since 1869. The current seat dates from a mid-decade redistricting conducted before the 1966 elections after Texas's original 1960s map was thrown out by Wesberry v. Sanders. In past configurations, it has been one of the most Republican districts in both Texas and the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The GOP has held the seat since a 1968 special election. The district's current congressman is Van Taylor. As of the 2010 census, the 3rd district represents 765,486 people who are predominantly middle-to-upper-class (median family income is US$80,912). The district is 59.1 percent White (non-Hispanic), 15.06 percent Hispanic or Latino (of any race), 13 percent Asian, and 8.9 percent Black or African American.

Fairview is a town in Collin County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. As of the 2017 census, the town population was 8,950. The estimated population in 2018 was 9,092. The town is adjacent to the 289-acre (1.17 km2) Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary.

McKinney High School (MHS) is located at 1400 Wilson Creek Parkway in McKinney, Texas, and is within the McKinney Independent School District. MHS is the oldest high school in McKinney and the current building opened in 1986, after moving from what is now Faubion Middle School. Although the Texas Education Agency (TEA) rated the school as Academically Unacceptable following the 2009-10 school year, the school has shown improvement, being rated as Academically Acceptable in all following school years as of 2019.

The Heard-Craig House is a historic house in McKinney, Texas, U.S.. It was built for Stephen and Lillian Heard in 1900. The house has 7,000 square feet and four floors. In 1970, Kathryn Heard-Craig gifted the house to multiple arts organizations as a place to convene and educate. In addition to an education hub, the center is also a Regional Art Museum boasting a large collection of Texas Regional Art. Notable artists include Frank Earl Klepper, Allie Tenant, Thomas Stell, Guy Wiggins, Bruce Crane, and more. The center also showcases the work of local McKinney artists including Nancy Alexander, Kim Guthrie, Don Chesser, Judy Osentowski, and Mecha Via. Each April, the center hosts a stunning exhibit called, ART MEETS FLORAL, that showcases floral arrangements that replicate paintings. Tickets for all Heard-Craig Center events can be found at www.heardcraig.org The house was designed in the Queen Anne style by architect James E. Flanders. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 8, 1987. The front lobby has beautiful fretwork and there is a One-Of-A-Kind China Cabinet in the dining room. The china cabinet has two concave doors and three convex doors and is built under the staircase. Most all of the rooms in the house have stained glass windows. The Garden leads to a two-story Carriage House used for weddings, parties, bridal showers, and club meetings.It is a two-story frame building with a hipped roof.

Wetsel is an unincorporated community in Collin County, located in the U.S. state of Texas.

At the 2020 United States census, the county's population is 1,064,465, making it the sixth-most populous county in Texas and the 43rd-largest county by population in the United States. Its county seat is McKinney.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is located in McKinney, Texas, approximately 30 miles north of Dallas. The church was designated a mission church in 1876, when services were held in private homes and offices. In 1890 the mission was elevated to the status of a parish, and in 1893 the original frame church was completed, on the site of the present church. A new sanctuary was built in 1926. In 1960 a fire destroyed the sanctuary and other valuables, and the current church building was built the next year, and extended in 1997. The church's Rector is the Rev. Perry E. Mullins.

The U.S. Census Bureau listed McKinney as the nation's fastest-growing city from 2000 to 2003 and again in 2006, among cities with more than 50,000 people. In 2007, it was ranked second-fastest-growing among cities with more than 100,000 people and in 2008 as third-fastest. In the 2010 census, the city's population was 131,117, making it Texas's 19th-most populous city. The population estimate produced by the city as of 2019 was 199,177, which made it Texas's 16th most populous city. In 2020, its population was 195,308. As of May 2017, McKinney was the third-fastest-growing city in the United States.

St. Jude Catholic Church is a Catholic parish of the Diocese of Dallas. It is located in Allen, Texas. The first Catholic church in the city of Allen, it was established in 1981. This parish was created with 50 founding members, including organizer Don Rodenbaugh. A new sanctuary was opened in 2005.

On May 6, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at Allen Premium Outlets, an outlet center in Allen, Texas, United States. Nine people, including the perpetrator, were killed during the shooting, the youngest of whom was a three-year-old boy, and seven others were injured. The perpetrator was fatally shot by a police officer already in the area on an unrelated call.The shooter, 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia, was a far-right extremist, although his specific motive for the spree killings was not clear. Martinez Garcia's extensive online writings showed that he self-radicalized, adopting and promoting white supremacist, neo-Nazi, and "incel" ideologies, and posting hateful comments against women, Jews and racial minorities in the lead-up to the attack. He committed the massacre while wearing a tactical vest embroidered with a "RWDS" ("Right Wing Death Squad") patch. His body was tattooed with fascist symbols including SS lightning bolts and a large swastika.

The Credit Union of Texas Event Center (formerly Allen Event Center) is an American 6,275 fixed-seat multi-purpose indoor arena located in Allen, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas. The arena opened in 2009 under the name Allen Event Center. Construction cost was $52.6 million ($63.5 million in 2020 dollars). The City of Allen sold the naming rights to the arena to the Credit Union of Texas in 2021 for a seven-year term at $325,000 per year. The center hosts the home games of the ECHL's Allen Americans and the relaunched Dallas Sidekicks of the Major Arena Soccer League. The Miss Texas pageant relocated to the center for 2012 and 2013. It was formerly the home of Champions Indoor Football's Texas Revolution (also previously called the Allen Wranglers) until the team moved to Frisco, Texas, in 2017. In 2019, the event center hosted the NCWA National Wrestling Championship.On April 27 and 29, 2019, the Dallas Fuel hosted the Overwatch League's first Homestand Weekend at the Allen Event Center. These matches were the first in league history to be played away from the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, California.
