The Jachin en Boazkerk is a church of the Netherlands Reformed Congregations in Genemuiden, Overijssel, the Netherlands. It was built in 2003, and can hold 1,850 people.

The Zwarte Water ("Black Water") is a river in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is formed just south of the city of Zwolle when two streams, the Soestwetering and the Nieuwe Wetering, merge. The Zwarte Water then flows north through Zwolle, bends to the northeast, takes in the Vecht near Hasselt and flows past the town of Zwartsluis to discharge itself in the Zwarte Meer ("Black Lake", connected to the IJsselmeer lake) near Genemuiden. Contrary to popular belief, the Zwarte Water is not an IJssel branch, nor is it another name for the Vecht. The river is, however, connected to the IJssel by two canals, the Willemsvaart (dug in the early nineteenth century, now disused) and the Zwolle-IJssel Canal.

Zwartsluis is a small city in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Zwartewaterland, at the mouth of the Zwarte Water river and the Meppelerdiep canal.

The Dutch Reformed Church of Zwartsluis (in Dutch: Hervormde Kerk Zwartsluis) is a historic Dutch Reformed church building located on the Kerkstraat in Zwartsluis, Netherlands.

Mastenbroek is a polder in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It lies north of the city of Zwolle. "Mastenbroek" is also the name of an hamlet, built around a church in the middle of the polder. The polder is part of three municipalities: the western part, including the hamlet Bisschopswetering and half of the village of Mastenbroek, lies in Kampen; the southeastern part lies in Zwolle; and the northeastern part, including the hamlet of Nieuwe Wetering and the other half of the village of Mastenbroek, lies in Zwartewaterland. It used to split into six municipalities.It was first mentioned in 1277 as Mastenbroic. The etymology is unclear. In 1169, it was attested as Vorsterbruc, but that name was reference to the entire wilderness between the IJssel and Zwarte Water. In 1369, a church was built in the hamlet. The current church dates from around 1647. In 1864, the inhabitants petitioned the government to construct a railway station in their hamlet which was initially denied. The stop was built 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) from the village, and closed in 1933.

Belt-Schutsloot is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, about 3 km north of Zwartsluis.The village originally consisted of two parts, Belt (also called "Zandbelt") and Schutsloot, and was also called "Schutsloot en Zandbelt".

Hasselt is a city in the municipality of Zwartewaterland about 7 km (4.3 mi) north of Zwolle, in the Dutch province of Overijssel. After it received city rights in 1252, it became a member of the Hanseatic League around 1350. The city suffered an economic downfall from about 1550 on, as other cities proved to be better situated and equipped for trade and commerce. In 2001 the municipalities of Hasselt, Genemuiden and Zwartsluis were united in the municipality of Zwartewaterland, of which Hasselt became the administrative centre. As of 1 January 2021, Hasselt had a population of 7,385.

Sint Jansklooster (Dutch Low Saxon: ′t Klooster) is a village in the municipality Steenwijkerland of the Dutch province of Overijssel. It started as a monastery. The village is located near the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, and organises an annual bloemencorso (flower parade).

De Zwaluw (English: The Swallow) is a smock mill in Hasselt, Overijssel, Netherlands which is run by volunteers every Saturday.

Zwartewaterland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌzʋɑrtəˈʋaːtərlɑnt] ) is a municipality in the province Overijssel in the eastern Netherlands.

Baarlo is a small village in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality Zwartewaterland, Overijssel, about 4 km northeast of the town of Zwartsluis. The village lies on the Meppelerdiep canal between Zwartsluis and Meppel. The village is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Zwartsluis. In 1840, it was home to 75 people. Nowadays, the population is estimated at 20.There is another village with the same name in Overijsel, about 15 km to the northwest.

Ambt Vollenhove is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It consisted of the countryside surrounding the city of Vollenhove, which was a separate municipality. Ambt Vollenhove existed from 1818 to 1942 when it became a part of Vollenhove.
