De Zwaluw (English: The Swallow) is a smock mill in Hasselt, Overijssel, Netherlands which is run by volunteers every Saturday.

Zwartewaterland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌzʋɑrtəˈʋaːtərlɑnt] ) is a municipality in the province Overijssel in the eastern Netherlands.

The Vechte (German pronunciation: [ˈfɛçtə]) (in German and in Low Saxon (Dutch Low Saxon pronunciation: [v̯ɛxtə]) or Vecht (in Dutch) (Dutch pronunciation: [vɛxt]), often called Overijsselse Vecht (Dutch pronunciation: [oːvərˈɛi̯səlsə ˈvɛxt]) in the Netherlands to avoid confusion with its Utrecht counterpart, is a river in Germany and the Netherlands. Its total length is 182 km (113 mi), of which 107 km (66 mi) are on German soil. The Vechte originates in Oberdarfeld in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia near the city of Coesfeld and flows north into the state of Lower Saxony, past the towns of Nordhorn and Emlichheim, across the border and then westwards into the Dutch province of Overijssel (hence its alternate Dutch designation). There, it flows through the north part of the Salland region past Hardenberg and Ommen, taking in the water of the Regge stream along the way. Close to the city of Zwolle, the river suddenly bends north to end in confluence with the Zwarte Water river near the town of Hasselt. The Vechte is probably the Vidrus mentioned by Ptolemy in his map of Magna Germania.

Zwartsluis is a small city in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Zwartewaterland, at the mouth of the Zwarte Water river and the Meppelerdiep canal.

The Dutch Reformed Church of Zwartsluis (in Dutch: Hervormde Kerk Zwartsluis) is a historic Dutch Reformed church building located on the Kerkstraat in Zwartsluis, Netherlands.

Genemuiden is a city located in the north western part of the Province of Overijssel. It received city rights in 1275, which is also the first time Genemuiden gets mentioned in history.It stayed independent up until 2001 when, despite fierce opposition of its inhabitants, it was forced to merge with the smaller, neighbouring villages of Zwartsluis and Hasselt to form the municipality of Zwartewaterland. The town itself doesn't have any buildings over 150 years old as two fires destroyed the town completely in 1866. These fires could not be controlled due to the great number of hay stacks in one street, 'de Achterweg' or 'Nachtweg'. This street still holds a non smoking sign, which is unique for a street in Europe. Since the 18th century, the people from Genemuiden have been producing floor mats made of the bulrush that grows on the shores of the Zuiderzee. When the quality of the bulrush deteriorated in the 20th century, due to the change from salt water to fresh water (see Zuiderzee), the industry switched over to using coir imported from India to produce mats and carpets. In the sixties the first tufting machines were imported and currently Genemuiden is one of Europe's main production centres of tufted carpet and artificial grass. Genemuiden is a Protestant stronghold, having five Reformed Protestant denominations and no Roman Catholic church. It's on the north-eastern tip of the so-called Dutch Bible Belt.

The Jachin en Boazkerk is a church of the Netherlands Reformed Congregations in Genemuiden, Overijssel, the Netherlands. It was built in 2003, and can hold 1,850 people.

The Tomb of Lepejou is the oldest Muslim burial site in the Netherlands, dating back to 1828. The grave is located on the Huize Arnichem Estate outside the hamlet of Haerst, which is under the municipal jurisdiction of Zwolle.

Mastenbroek is a polder in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It lies north of the city of Zwolle. "Mastenbroek" is also the name of an hamlet, built around a church in the middle of the polder. The polder is part of three municipalities: the western part, including the hamlet Bisschopswetering and half of the village of Mastenbroek, lies in Kampen; the southeastern part lies in Zwolle; and the northeastern part, including the hamlet of Nieuwe Wetering and the other half of the village of Mastenbroek, lies in Zwartewaterland. It used to split into six municipalities.It was first mentioned in 1277 as Mastenbroic. The etymology is unclear. In 1169, it was attested as Vorsterbruc, but that name was reference to the entire wilderness between the IJssel and Zwarte Water. In 1369, a church was built in the hamlet. The current church dates from around 1647. In 1864, the inhabitants petitioned the government to construct a railway station in their hamlet which was initially denied. The stop was built 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) from the village, and closed in 1933.

Baarlo is a small village in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality Zwartewaterland, Overijssel, about 4 km northeast of the town of Zwartsluis. The village lies on the Meppelerdiep canal between Zwartsluis and Meppel. The village is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Zwartsluis. In 1840, it was home to 75 people. Nowadays, the population is estimated at 20.There is another village with the same name in Overijsel, about 15 km to the northwest.

Bouches-de-l'Yssel ([buʃ.də.li.sɛl]; "Mouths of the IJssel"; Dutch: Monden van de IJssel) was a department of the First French Empire in the present-day Netherlands. It was formed in 1810, when the Kingdom of Holland was annexed by France. Its territory corresponded with the present-day Dutch province of Overijssel. Its capital was Zwolle. The department was subdivided into the following arrondissements and cantons (situation in 1812): Zwolle, cantons: Hasselt, Kampen, Steenwijk, Vollenhove and Zwolle. Almelo, cantons: Almelo, Delden, Enschede, Goor, Oldenzaal and Ootmarsum. Deventer, cantons: Deventer, Hardenberg, Ommen and Raalte.Its population in 1812 was 145,000, and its area was 340,000 hectares.After Napoleon was defeated in 1814, the department became part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Zwolle Stadshagen is a railway station in Zwolle, Overijssel, Netherlands. It serves the Kamperlijntje between Zwolle and Kampen. The station was opened on 15 December 2019.The station was originally planned to be opened in December 2017. It was discovered, however, that the renovation of the track was done with a technical error, and the trains could not go as fast as planned. In 2018, the technical issues were solved, and, after a short trial, the decision was made to open the station on 15 December 2019, when the new schedule of the Dutch Railways was enacted.
