The South Harz Karst Landscape Biosphere Reserve (German: Biosphärenreservat Karstlandschaft Südharz) is a biosphere reserve in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. It was founded on 23 March 2009 and is thus the 16th biosphere reserve in Germany. Its recognition by UNESCO is pending.

Rotha is a village in the municipality Sangerhausen, Mansfeld-Südharz district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Rotha was first mentioned in a charter from 1347 as Rote. Until 1 October 2005 Rotha was an independent municipality within the Sangerhausen municipal association (Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Sangerhausen), together with 9 other municipalities (i.e. the town Sangerhausen and 8 other villages). On 1 October 2005 the municipal association was dissolved and these 9 villages were incorporated into Sangerhausen. Later 5 other municipalities/villages were also annexed and currently Rotha is one of the 14 villages surrounding Sangerhausen within the municipality Sangerhausen. A central building in Rotha is the 17th century St. Nicholas church.

Drebsdorf is a village and a former municipality in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality Südharz.

The ruins of Wolfsberg Castle (German: Burgruine Wolfsberg) lie on an eminence in the municipality of Wolfsberg in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Of the once extensive mediaeval castle only a few foundation remnants survive.

Wallhausen is a municipality in the Mansfeld-Südharz district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is located on the Helme river north of the Kyffhäuser mountain range and the border with Thuringia. Wallhausen is part of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Goldene Aue. The municipality consists of the 4 villages Wallhausen, Hohlstedt, Martinsrieth and Riethnordhausen. The former municipalities Martinsrieth and Riethnordhausen were absorbed into Wallhausen in July 2009. In 909 Henry the Fowler, the son of Duke Otto I of Saxony, married Matilda at the Pfalz of Wallhausen, their son Otto was possibly born here in 912. King Otto III gave the castle to his aunt Abbess Matilda of Quedlinburg in 985. Wallhausen later was a possession of the Saxon Electorate, it became part of the Prussian Province of Saxony in 1815. Wallhausen Castle was owned by the House of Asseburg from 1414 until the expropriation in the Soviet occupation zone in 1945.

Dankerode is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 August 2009, it is part of the town Harzgerode. It lies in the Unterharz, the eastern region of the Harz mountains, at an elevation of 420 m above the valley of the Wipper and has over 1000 years of rich history.

Neudorf is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 September 2010, it is part of the town Harzgerode.

The Wippra Dam or Wipper Dam (German: Talsperre-Wippra or Wippertalsperre, partly also Vorsperre Wippra or Vorsperre Wipper) is a dam on the river Wipper in the Harz mountains. It lies near Wippra, not far from Mansfeld and Hettstedt in Saxony-Anhalt. It was built between February 1951 and November 1952. It was built in order to ensure the supply of industrial water to the copper-processing plants in Mansfeld and Hettstedt. Its role in flood protection is rather limited because it was originally only built as an auxiliary dam. Plans for a bigger main dam further down the valley never came to fruition. The Wipper Dam also generates electricity using hydropower. The rated capacity of the power station is 22 kW. Its operator is Talsperrenbetrieb Saxony-Anhalt. The barrier itself is a gravity dam made of concrete. Guided tours of the inside of the dam are available. On the dam is checkpoint no. 219 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking system.

Kunstteich Neudorf is a reservoir near Neudorf in the Harz Mountains, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is fed and drained by a small tributary of the Schmale Wipper, itself a tributary of the Wipper.
