Falzarego Pass

Lagazuoi is a mountain in the Dolomites of northern Italy, lying at an elevation of 2,835 metres (9,301 ft), about 18 kilometres (11 mi) southwest by road from Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Veneto Region. The mountain is part of the Ampezzo Dolomites Natural Park. It is accessible by cable car and contains the Rifugio Lagazuoi, a mountain refuge situated beyond the northwest corner of Cima del Lago. The mountain range is well known for its wartime tunnels and First World War mine warfare. The extensive tunnels were built by the Italian troops trying to wrest control from Austro-Hungarian troops who also built tunnels. The tunnels are now open as a de facto museum.

Sass de Stria is a mountain of the Veneto, Italy. It has an elevation of 2,477 meters. During the First World War, the mountain and surrounding area was the scene of fighting between Italy and Austria-Hungary.

Tre Sassi fort (Italian Forte Tre Sassi or Forte Tra i Sassi; Ladino Fort Intra i Sas) is a fortress and museum on the road to the Passo di Valparola, within the comune of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the southern (Dolomitic) Alps of the Veneto region of Northern Italy. Hidden between the Ampezzo valley and the high Val Badia, it was built by Austrians between 1897 and 1901 as a fortification against attack from the Italians on the Falzàrego and Valparo. During World War I it was a favorite target for the Italians, and the fort was destroyed as there was inadequate artillery to defend it. Forte Tre Sassi is one of three preserved sites which make up the Great War Museum in the Dolomites. The fort houses a museum and an information center.

Fanis is a mountain on the boundary shared by the provinces of South Tyrol and Belluno in northern Italy.

Averau (2,649m) is the highest mountain of the Nuvolau Group in the Dolomites, located in the Province of Belluno, northern Italy. It lies between the Falzarego Pass and the Giau Pass. The mountain is usually climbed from its northern face, which is less steep than its other faces, by the Averau ferrata. The view from the summit takes in many of the Dolomitic giants, including Monte Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Antelao and Sorapiss.

Tofane is a mountain group in the Dolomites of northern Italy, west of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the province of Belluno, Veneto. Most of the Tofane lie within the Ampezzo Dolomites Natural Park.

The Valparola Pass (Italian: Passo di Valparola) (el. 2,168 m, in Ladin : "Ju de Valparola") is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. The pass lies a little west of Falzarego Pass. The hut "Rifugio Passo Valparola" (bar, restaurant) is located directly on the pass. From the pass there are numerous hiking trails as well as to the Col di Lana, the Lagazuoi (Kaiserjäger path), the Fanes Plateau and towards the Pralongia mountain inn. North of the pass in the east of the old pass road is the source (Italian: Fontana) Valparola. The Valparola got its name from the ironworks that were once near the pass. Valparola is the Latin translation of the word iron furnace valley. Ruins of these ovens, which were still in use into the 16th century, are said to have been visible in 1860. Even the Stone Age people knew the pass, as has been proven by isolated finds at Lake Valparola. It can be assumed that the smelting of metal there also goes back at least to the Iron Age. Before World War I, there was only a trail over the pass, but the area was heavily contended during the war. Between 1897 and 1900, the Austro-Hungarian army built the Forte Tre Sassi fortification on the top of the pass. In 1915, the fort was partially destroyed by Italian artillery attacks. Although the fortification could no longer be used afterwards, the Austrians continued to illuminate the fort to give the impression that it was still in operation. The fortress ruins have now been restored and now houses a museum. The Edelweiss position of the Austro-Hungarian army was located directly next to the Valparola Pass during World War I. These are the positions in the flat area, called Le Laste, on a 600 meter wide point between the Hexenstein (Italian: Sasso de Stria, 2,477m), which was heavily fortified during the war, and the eastern flank of the Sestas (2,571m). The Austro-Hungarians therefore built the Edelweiss position, which can still be seen today, on the open flank, consisting of trenches, bunkers and casemates. The pass is the divide between the watersheds of the Adige, which flows west into the Adriatic Sea and the Piave, which flows east.

Cinque Torri ("Five Towers", sometimes named also Cinque Torri di Averau; German: Fünf Türme) comprise a small rock formation belonging to Nuvolao group in the Dolomiti Ampezzane (part of the Eastern Dolomites) north-west of San Vito di Cadore and south-west of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Tofana di Rozes (3,225 metres (10,581 ft)) is a mountain of the Dolomites in the Province of Belluno, Veneto, Italy. Located west of the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the mountain's giant three-edged pyramid shape and its vertical south face, above the Falzarego Pass, makes it the most popular peak in the Tofane group, and one of the most popular in the Dolomites.

Ra Gusela is a mountain in the Province of Belluno in Italy.

The Giau Pass (Italian: Passo di Giau) (Ladin: Jof de Giau) (el. 2236 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. It connects Cortina d'Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. It is located at the center of a vast mountain pasture at the foot of Nuvolau (2,574 m) and dell'Averau (2,647 m) from which you can easily reach the Monte Pore (2,405 m). Impressive is the view west towards Colle Santa Lucia with the Pale di San Martino, Cime D'Auta, Marmolada, Piz Boe and Setsass, just to the east towards the valley of Cortina d'Ampezzo, with Tofane, Croda Rossa, Pomagagnon, Cristallo, Croda da Lago, etc.
