Averau (2,649m) is the highest mountain of the Nuvolau Group in the Dolomites, located in the Province of Belluno, northern Italy. It lies between the Falzarego Pass and the Giau Pass. The mountain is usually climbed from its northern face, which is less steep than its other faces, by the Averau ferrata. The view from the summit takes in many of the Dolomitic giants, including Monte Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Antelao and Sorapiss.

Tofane is a mountain group in the Dolomites of northern Italy, west of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the province of Belluno, Veneto. Most of the Tofane lie within the Ampezzo Dolomites Natural Park.

Tofana di Rozes (3,225 metres (10,581 ft)) is a mountain of the Dolomites in the Province of Belluno, Veneto, Italy. Located west of the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the mountain's giant three-edged pyramid shape and its vertical south face, above the Falzarego Pass, makes it the most popular peak in the Tofane group, and one of the most popular in the Dolomites.

The Giau Pass (Italian: Passo di Giau) (Ladin: Jof de Giau) (el. 2236 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. It connects Cortina d'Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. It is located at the center of a vast mountain pasture at the foot of Nuvolau (2,574 m) and dell'Averau (2,647 m) from which you can easily reach the Monte Pore (2,405 m). Impressive is the view west towards Colle Santa Lucia with the Pale di San Martino, Cime D'Auta, Marmolada, Piz Boe and Setsass, just to the east towards the valley of Cortina d'Ampezzo, with Tofane, Croda Rossa, Pomagagnon, Cristallo, Croda da Lago, etc.

Croda da Lago is a small mountain chain in the central Dolomites in Veneto, northern Italy, just east of the Giau Pass. The highest peak of the group, the Cima d'Ambrizzola has an elevation of 2,715 metres. The range is very popular with hikers and mountain cyclists.

Becco di Mezzodì (2,603m) is a mountain of the Croda da Lago chain, a small mountain group in the central Dolomites. It is located above the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo in Belluno, northern Italy. The mountain's name means Midday Peak in the local dialect, as the sun appears directly above the peak at midday from Cortina. The climb usually starts from the Refuge Croda da Lago on the road to the Giau Pass. Climbing gear and slings are required.

The Helmut Ullrich Astronomical Observatory is an observatory situated on Col Drusciè, a mountain peak in the Dolomites located within Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. The observatory sits at an elevation of 1,780 metres (5,840 ft) above sea level and includes two domes, with a 20" Newtonian telescope and an 11" Schmidt–Cassegrain telescope inside.The observatory hosts a remote control system called "Sky on the Web", which allows users to control the operation of the observatory remotely, including telescope pointing, image taking and processing, image downloading on one's home PC, weather alerts. The amateur astronomers that manage the observatory are mainly involved in comet studies and galaxy observations, in order to search for supernovae. In the framework of CROSS (Col drusciè Remote Observatory Supernovae Search) program they have discovered so far 30 supernovae and one minor planet (called "Cortina d'Ampezzo").

Selva di Cadore is a comune (municipality) in the province of Belluno in the Italian region of Veneto, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) north of Venice and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Belluno. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 557 and an area of 33.1 square kilometres (12.8 sq mi). The population speaks a Venetian dialect called Ladin Venetian that is heavily influenced by the Ladin language. The municipality of Selva di Cadore contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) S.Fosca and Pescul. Selva di Cadore borders the following municipalities: Alleghe, Borca di Cadore, Colle Santa Lucia, San Vito di Cadore, Zoldo Alto.

Sacrario militare di Pocol (also known as Ossario di Pocol) is a cemetery and shrine near the Falzarego Pass, in the locality of Pocol in the comune of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Veneto region of northern Italy. The small church and cemetery were built in 1916 as a military cemetery by the 5th Alpine group. A shrine was built in 1935 as memorial to the thousands who died during World War I on the Dolomite front. It is a massive square tower of stone, clearly visible from the entire Ampezzo valley below. The remains of 9,707 Italian soldiers (4,455 of them unknown) and 37 Austro-Hungarian soldiers are buried in the shrine. In a crypt in the centre of the structure rests the body of general Antonio Cantore, who was awarded the gold medal for military valor.

Colle Santa Lucia (Italian pronunciation: [ˈkɔlle ˈsanta luˈtʃiːa]; Ladin language: Col) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Belluno in the Italian region of Veneto, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) north of Venice and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Belluno. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 408 and an area of 15.3 square kilometres (5.9 sq mi). The population speaks a Venetian dialect called Ladin Venetian that is heavily influenced by the Ladin language. Colle Santa Lucia borders the following municipalities: Alleghe, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Livinallongo del Col di Lana, Rocca Pietore, San Vito di Cadore, Selva di Cadore.

Olimpia delle Tofane is the classic women's World Cup downhill ski course in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. It debuted 68 years ago at the 1956 Winter Olympics, hosting the men's downhill.

Stadio della neve was a temporary stadium located in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Located in the Campo di Sotto area, the venue hosted the cross-country skiing and the cross-country skiing part of the Nordic combined events for the 1956 Winter Olympics. Post Olympics the stands and scoreboard was removed with the site now a grass field.
