Jura ( JOOR-ə, ZHOOR-ə; French: [ʒyʁa] ) is a department in the northeastern French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The department takes its name from the Jura Mountains. Its prefecture is Lons-le-Saunier; subprefectures are Dole and Saint-Claude. In 2023, Jura had a population of 257,973. It has a short portion of the border of Switzerland.

The Siege of Lons-le-Saunier was a siege that took place from around 4 June to 2 July 1637 during the Ten Years' War, the Franche-Comté episode of the Thirty Years' War. It opposed the French troops of the Duke of Longueville to the Comtois regiment of Christophe de Raincourt and ended in a French victory.

Parc des Bains is a park located in the region of Jura, in the Franche-Comté of eastern France. It was built under Camille Prost and was completed in 1904. In the late 19th century, Camille Prost wanted to create a spa in the city of Lons-le-Saunier, to showcase its salt water. The park, covering 7 hectares, was built to embellish the surrounding area and was designed by the French horticulturist and landscape architect H. Michel.
