Hawthorne station (NJ Transit)

Stevenson Brook is a tributary of the Passaic River in Hawthorne, Passaic County, New Jersey in the United States. Stevenson Brook is one half mile long and once flowed unobstructed from the Diamond Bridge Avenue area of Hawthorne south to the Passaic River, but a significant section of the brook was culvertized early in the twentieth century. Two portions of the brook now remain intact at the surface, running from Diamond Bridge Avenue to Royal Avenue and from Wagaraw Road to the Passaic River. The section south of Wagaraw Road is crossed by a pedestrian bridge linking a parking lot to a local sports complex. There is a residential development along Stevenson Brook called Diamond Brook Hollow. The name of the development seems to be derived from a local tendency to refer to Stevenson Brook as Diamond Brook, because it is crossed by Diamond Bridge Avenue. However, the real Diamond Brook (40°56′47″N 74°08′32″W) lies about a half mile to the east in the towns of Glen Rock and Fair Lawn. A small stream that once flowed parallel to the Passaic River known as De Gray Brook connected into Stevenson Brook just north of its junction with the Passaic River. De Gray Brook was completely filled in with the construction of the Wagaraw Sports Complex.

Hawthorne is a former rail station located in Hawthorne in Passaic County, New Jersey. Volunteer Railroaders Association (aka VRA), a non-profit railroad preservation group leases the station from the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway. The station house is an at-grade single story wooden structure featuring a Dutch gable roof, shiplap siding, and gingerbread trim. It served as the ticket office until June 30, 1966, and was also used as a freight depot building. The New Jersey Western Railroad built what is now about ten miles of the current New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway right-of way from Hawthorne to Bloomingdale from 1868 to 1870. It was consolidated into the New Jersey Midland Railway. The original station at this location was built in 1872. In 1894 a fire destroyed the station and the station was rebuilt in a larger form. Since 1872, the present station has been located on the corner of Royal Avenue and County Route 654 (Diamond Bridge Avenue). In 2010 the VRA undertook a massive fund raising needed to move the station. The move of just 75 feet within the same plot away from the corner was to alleviate the nearly monthly truck strikes to the southeast roof corner. As a part of this move a concrete brick and poured floor foundation was constructed. The move contractor hired made the move of the station onto the new foundation on September 20, 2010. After the move the areas of deteriorated siding were replaced and adding a new coat of paint was begun. Also added was a deck with safety railing, a fence between the station & the railroad and a garden area in the location of the old station footing. It is proposed that New Jersey Transit will build a new station for the northern terminus of the Passaic-Bergen Rail Line adjacent to the NJ Transit Main Line's Hawthorne station several blocks away from this station. The neighborhood of the original Erie mainline station would benefit from state funding to improve signage, lighting and parking.

Diamond Brook, also known as Bass Brook, is a tributary of the Passaic River which flows south through a section of Bergen County in New Jersey, United States. Heading up the brook from the Passaic River, one encounters the boroughs of Fair Lawn and Glen Rock, as well as the village of Ridgewood.

Goffle Brook is a tributary of the Passaic River which flows south through a section of Passaic County and Bergen County in New Jersey and drains the eastern side of the First Watchung Mountain. Heading up the brook from the confluence with the Passaic River, one encounters the borough of Hawthorne, the village of Ridgewood, the borough of Midland Park, and the township of Wyckoff.

Goffle Brook Park is a public, county park spanning much of the length of Goffle Brook through the borough of Hawthorne in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. Since its designation and construction between 1930 and 1932, the park has served to protect the waters of Goffle Brook while at the same time providing recreational opportunities to the residents of Passaic County and nearby Bergen County. Goffle Brook Park has been included in the National Register of Historic Places since 2002.

The Hawthorne Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Hawthorne, in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprised of five schools, had an enrollment of 2,323 students and 200.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.6:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "DE", the fifth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.

Hawthorne High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in 9th through twelfth grades from Hawthorne, in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.The school operates as the lone secondary school of the Hawthorne Public Schools. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 616 students and 58.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.5:1. There were 97 students (15.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 16 (2.6% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "DE". District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts.

Hawthorne is a borough in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 19,637, an increase of 846 (+4.5%) from the 2010 census count of 18,791, which in turn reflected an increase of 573 (+3.1%) from the 18,218 counted in the 2000 census.Hawthorne was originally part of the now-defunct Manchester Township, which was later subdivided to create Hawthorne, Haledon, North Haledon, Prospect Park, Totowa, The Heights/Columbia Heights District of Fair Lawn and most of the First Ward of Paterson. The Borough of Hawthorne was incorporated from portions of Manchester Township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 24, 1898. The borough was named for novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne.

North Hawthorne, known as North Paterson when originally constructed, was a rail station and yard located in Hawthorne, Passaic County, New Jersey. The facility, which was equipped with car and engine shops, served passengers and freight for both the Erie Railroad and the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad from 1892 to 1966. Passenger service from North Hawthorne primarily transported commuters to and from the Susquehanna Transfer station in North Bergen or the Erie Railroad's Pavonia Terminal in Jersey City. Connecting service included the now defunct Public Service Railway, which at one time used North Hawthorne as the terminus of a trolley line connecting Hawthorne to Paterson. Once a sizable complex with multiple spurs and sidings for surrounding industries, North Hawthorne has been reduced to a single runaround siding. Every structure associated with the yard has been demolished, except for the roundhouse, which today is owned by private interests.

Little Diamond Brook is a tributary of the Passaic River which flows south through a section of Bergen County in New Jersey. Heading up the approximately two mile long brook from the Passaic River, one encounters the towns of Fair Lawn and Glen Rock. Little Diamond Brook is considered to be in part of the Goffle Brook drainage basin, but it has no junctions with Goffle Brook and is separated from it by two brooks, Diamond Brook (a neighboring brook considered to be its larger counterpart), and Stevenson Brook, which both flow south to the Passaic River between Goffle Brook and Little Diamond Brook. Both Little Diamond Brook and Diamond Brook terminate at the Passaic River in proximity to each other.

Sixth Avenue Bridge, aka the North Sixth Street Bridge, is a pony truss vehicular bridge over the Passaic River in northeastern New Jersey. It connects the Bunker Hill neighbourhood of Paterson and Prospect Park at the border with Hawthorne via North Sixth Street (CR 652). It was originally constructed 1907 as a steel structure supported on stone masonry piers and abutments and is one of several bridges built after the Passaic Flood of 1903. The older span opened was abruptly closed in 1986 after the Passaic County engineer at the time, Gaetano Fabrina, found that some steel beams had rusted and were "banging and clanging." In 1987, the crossing was rebuilt with temporary components which have since deteriorated. The simple panel steel-truss structure, cost $850,000 and was built in less than a year to build by the Acrow Corporation of Carlstadt. In 2015, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority granted funds to study the bridges eventual restoration or replacement.

River Street Station is a former train station for the Erie Railroad in Paterson, New Jersey. The station was located at the intersection of River Street and Putnam Avenue in Paterson, very close to the Passaic River. It was served by the Erie Main Line and the Newark Branch.
