Etzel Pass

The Etzel is a mountain on the south side of Lake Zürich in Switzerland. Although its elevation, of 1,098 metres (3,602 ft), is relatively modest, it is notable for its aspect when viewed from the lake and its surroundings. It is also well known for its views over the lake, and there is a mountain inn at the summit. The mountain forms part of the Schwyzer Alps mountain range, and lies in the canton of Schwyz. Its summit and slopes are divided between the municipalities of Feusisberg, which lies to the north, and Einsiedeln, which lies to the south. The mountain has given its name to the 1934-built MV Etzel, now preserved on Lake Zürich.

Hurden is a village in the municipality of Freienbach in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. First mentioned in 1217, the name "de Hurden" was used for the peninsula and for the fish traps made of woven work, called "Hürden" or "Hurden", which were used by the locals.

Pfäffikon is the principal town of the municipality of Freienbach in the canton of Schwyz, Switzerland. Together with Wollerau, Pfäffikon is considered the principal town of the district (Bezirk) of Höfe and the center of the region of Ausserschwyz. The former farm town is known for its focus on hedge funds. With 7,200 residents, Pfäffikon is the third biggest town in the canton after Küssnacht and Einsiedeln.

Pfäffikon SZ railway station (German: Bahnhof Pfäffikon SZ) is a junction station serving Pfäffikon, the principal town of the municipality of Freienbach, in the canton of Schwyz (SZ), Switzerland. The station is situated at the northern edge of the town, between the town centre and Lake Zurich.The station forms part of the Lake Zurich left bank railway line, which links Zürich Hauptbahnhof with Ziegelbrücke and Näfels, and is owned and operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). To the east of the station is the junction for the line to Rapperswil, which crosses Lake Zurich on the Seedamm, whilst to the west is the junction for the line to Arth-Goldau; both these latter being owned and operated by the Südostbahn (SOB).The station should not be confused with Pfäffikon ZH railway station, which is in Pfäffikon, canton of Zürich.

The station is located on the Pfäffikon SZ–Arth-Goldau railway line, owned by the Südostbahn (SOB). It is an intermediate stop on Zurich S-Bahn service S40, from Einsiedeln to Rapperswil.Freienbach SOB station should not be confused with the nearby Freienbach SBB railway station, which is on the Lake Zurich left-bank railway line. The two stations are approximately 500 metres (1,600 ft) apart on foot.

Seedamm-Center is a subsidiary of the Swiss Vögele Group which runs the shopping mall in the locality Pfäffikon of the municipality of Freienbach in the Canton of Schwyz.

The Alp is a river in the Swiss canton of Schwyz and a tributary of the Sihl. It has a length of 19.3 km (12.0 mi). The river rises on the northwestern flanks of the Brünnelistock and the northern flanks of the Kleiner and Grosser Mythen mountains near Brunni, and flows in generally northerly direction through the village of Alpthal, the village of Trachslau, the town of Einsiedeln and the village of Biberbrugg. At Biberbrugg, the river Biber joins the Alp. Some 2 km (1.2 mi) north of Biberbrugg, at Dreiwässern the Alp flows into the Sihl.The valley between Brunni and Einsiedeln is called Alptal.

The Hurden ship canal (German: Schiffahrtskanal von Hurden) is a 500-metre (1,600 ft) long canal in the Swiss canton of Schwyz. It connects the lower section of Lake Zürich with the upper section, sometimes called the Obersee, permitting shipping services on the lake to pass between the two halves of the lake without passing through the shallows, and under the low bridges, of the Seedamm. The canal was opened in 1943, and cuts through the base of the peninsular containing the village of Hurden, thus placing the centre of the village on an artificial island.The canal is spanned by the Sternenbrücke, which carries both road and railway, with the railway being used by the S5 and S40 lines of the S-Bahn Zürich and by the Südostbahn Voralpen Express. This bridge was renewed between March and November 2010 to allow 40 ton trucks to cross the Seedamm.The canal's navigation channel is only wide enough to pass a single ship at a time, and vessels proceeding up the lake must give way to vessels proceeding downstream. Amongst other vessels, it is used by the paddle steamers and motor ships of the Zürichsee-Schifffahrtsgesellschaft on their services from the city of Zürich to the Obersee.To the west of the Sternenbrücke, the canal passes through the Frauenwinkel nature reserve, with its important bog landscape.
