Green Park Historic District is a national historic district located at Blowing Rock in Caldwell County and Watauga County, North Carolina. The district includes 46 contributing buildings, three contributing sites, and 2two contributing structures associated with a residential summer resort in the town of Blowing Rock. It includes buildings largely built in the 1920s, in a variety of popular architectural styles including Bungalow / American Craftsman, Colonial Revival and Queen Anne. Notable contributing resources include the McDowell Cottage, Mt. Bethel Reformed Church, Blowing Rock Reception Center/Gift Shop, Robert A. Dunn Cottage, Gideon's Ridge, the James Ross Cannon House, the David Ovens Cottage, Blowing Rock, and the Blowing Rock Country Club Golf Course. Located in the district and separately listed is the Green Park Inn (1891).The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Lenoir Grammar School, also known as East Harper School, is a historic elementary school building located at Lenoir, Caldwell County, North Carolina. It was built in 1927, and is a two-story, five-bay, Classical Revival-style brick school. Additions were made in 1951-1952 and 1958. The school was closed after a fire in 1987, and renovated into apartments in the 1990s.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Caldwell County Courthouse in Lenoir, North Carolina was designed by Wheeler & Runge in Classical Revival style. It was built in 1905.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The listing included one contributing building and two contributing objects. It is located in the Lenoir Downtown Historic District.

The district includes 41 contributing buildings and 2 contributing objects in the central business district of Lenoir. It includes commercial, governmental, and institutional buildings in a variety of popular architectural styles including Art Deco, Art Moderne, Classical Revival and Tudor Revival. Notable contributing resources include the Center Theater (1941), O. P. Lutz Furniture Company and Lutz Hosiery Mill (1939), Dayvault's Drug Store (1937), Caldwell County Agricultural Building (1937), Courtney Warehouse (c. 1888), Masonic Hall (1901, 1959), Miller Building (c. 1900, c. 1920s), Confederate Monument (1910), Belk's Department Store (1928), Lenoir Building (1907), J. C. Penney Department Store (1941, c. 1980s), Fidelity Building (1928), and U. S. Post Office (1931). Located in the district is the separately listed Caldwell County Courthouse.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, with a boundary increase in 2013.

Lenoir High School is a historic high school complex and national historic district located at Lenoir, Caldwell County, North Carolina. It was designed by the architectural firm Benton & Benton and built in 1922. It is a two-story, Classical Revival-style brick school with cast stone detailing. An addition was made in 1962. Connected to the main building by brick walls is the contributing 1935–1937 band building with additions. The property also has an original stone retaining wall. Lenoir High School closed its doors in 1977, when it merged with Gamewell-Collettsville High School and moved across town to form West Caldwell High School. The Lenoir High School building was then Willow St Middle School until 1981. The property was vacant for eight years before becoming a senior housing facility in 1989.The school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Edgar Allan Poe House is a historic home located in Caldwell County at 506 Main Street NW in Lenoir, North Carolina. The two-story Dutch Colonial Revival style house with wraparound porch and gambrel roof was built in 1905 by Edgar Allan Poe, who was not the famous Boston poet born 1809. After finishing law school, Poe moved to Asheville in 1890 and worked as a carpenter with local architecture firm Alfonse, building structures in Hickory. Additionally Poe contributed to the beginning construction of Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate in Asheville. The business district in the town of Lenoir was founded in 1841. Growth was slow until the arrival of Chester & Lenoir Railroad in 1884, which boosted trade and industrial development. During this local industrial boom, Poe moved from his native home of Dallas, North Carolina, to Lenoir in 1893. Poe constructed several commercial buildings in Lenoir including the Courtney Building (1907) and the Lenoir Furniture and Hardware Building (1908). The largest contract attributed to Poe was the construction of the Caldwell County Courthouse (1903). In 1897 on October 28 Edgar Allan Poe married Eugenia Maude Miller, daughter of a pioneering family who moved to Caldwell County in the early 1890s. The Miller family owned property on North Main Street and built a house where Eugenia Maude lived until marriage. Poe built his first house in the neighborhood of his in-laws, on Scroggs Street. Poe's two children, Eugene Allan (1898-1964) and Carolyn Ransom (1903-1979), were born in the house on Scroggs Street. In 1905, the Poe family bought a half acre on North Main Street and began constructing their second home. This second house on North Main Street remained in ownership of the Poe family until August 1999. Poe was an active member of the community as an architect, a prolific builder, a lawyer, and the mayor of Lenoir for four years.The home was restored by Joel Kincaid and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 2001.

Lenoir ( le-NOR) is a city in and the county seat of Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 18,263 at the 2020 census. Lenoir is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. To the northeast are the Brushy Mountains, a spur of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hibriten Mountain, located just east of the city limits, marks the western end of the Brushy Mountains range. Lenoir is one of the principal cities in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Lenoir Cotton Mill, later the Blue Bell Inc. Plant is a historic textile mill and factory in Lenoir, North Carolina. Built in 1902 as a textile mill, the building doubled in size the next year, employing approximately 200 people until the 1920s. In 1927, Blue Bell, Inc. began manufacturing denim overalls there. The plant was expanded to employ up to 1,600 people, mostly women, who manufactured military apparel for the U.S. Army and Navy. In 1991, the property was sold and converted into offices for small businesses.The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Carolina and Northwestern Railway Freight Station is a historic railway station located at Lenoir, North Carolina. Built in 1950, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mary's Grove, also known as the Rabb House, is a historic home located at Lenoir, Caldwell County, North Carolina. It was built between 1932 and 1934, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival-style stone house. Also on the property are the contributing stone well-house, silo, and dairy. The buildings were constructed by master stonemasons Leslie (1900-1957), Clarence (1903–1981), and Earl Lyons (1912-1984).The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Hibriten High School (HHS) is a comprehensive, four-year high school accredited by the NC Department of Public Instruction and the Southern Colleges and Schools. The school is located at the foot of Hibriten Mountain, the western end of the Brushy Mountains in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Hibriten Mountain, located just east of Lenoir, North Carolina, marks the western end of the Brushy Mountains range. At 2,211 feet, the mountain's summit is nearly 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain. The summit is well known to the locals for its large welcome light which glows at night in the shape of a star in the weeks before Christmas and a cross before Easter. A fire tower was erected at the summit in 1927. It is considered one of the most important fire towers in western North Carolina.The star/cross light display at the peak was built in 1954. The star was first shown during the Christmas season of that year, and the cross was first shown during Easter of the following year.Its geographic and symbolic importance to the area was demonstrated when, in 1966, a new high school was opened at the base of the peak. It was named Hibriten High School in honor of the mountain. A hang gliding ramp was built at the west end of the mountain top in 1982 by The Buzzard Club. Hibriten Mountain not only provides a hang gliding location but also a great hiking trail for the community. There is even an annual race called the Hibriten Hill Run for Children which features a 5k and 10k run.
