The MacPhail Center for Music is one of the nation's oldest and largest community-based music education centers. Located in the Mills District of Downtown East, Minneapolis, Minnesota, the school has over 16,000 students, providing instruction at more than 130 locations outside of its downtown Minneapolis facility on more than 35 instruments and in a variety of musical styles. MacPhail is registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities access to inspiring and enduring music learning experiences through extraordinary faculty, relevant programming and integrated learning technology to create successful outcomes

The Flour Exchange Building is an office building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, designed by architects Long and Kees, who also designed Minneapolis City Hall and the Lumber Exchange Building. Construction originally began in 1892, but halted abruptly in 1893 after only four floors had been built. This was due to the effects of the Panic of 1893. Construction resumed later, and the building was completed in 1909 with eleven stories. The building is generally in the Chicago school, using a relatively straightforward approach without a lot of historic details. The modern influence of this style later influenced the Butler Square building. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

The United States Post Office building in Minneapolis, Minnesota, also known as the "Old" Federal Building, is a structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built from 1912 through 1915 and served as the main post office for Minneapolis until the present-day Minneapolis Post Office building was completed in 1936. Since then, it has housed a variety of federal offices.It became a focus for Vietnam War protests during the 1960s and 1970s, when the Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station was located there. On April 3, 1968, demonstrators marched from Johnston Hall on the University of Minnesota campus to the Old Federal Building to participate in the Day of Resistance, a protest organized across the country. More protests ensued over the following years. On August 17, 1970, at 3 AM, a bomb was set off by the steps of the Second Street entrance. The explosion caused an estimated $500,000 of damage to the building, injured a security guard, and shattered windows up to several blocks away.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Carlyle is a 469 ft (143 m) tall skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, located at 100 Third Avenue South. Completed in 2007, The Carlyle has 41 floors and 249 units. It is the 12th-tallest building in Minneapolis, and the 2nd tallest residential building in Minnesota. It was designed by the Dallas architecture firm Humphreys and Partners Architects.

Owamni by the Sioux Chef, or simply Owamni, is a Native American restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, overlooking the Mississippi River. Owamni's majority Native American staff serves a menu made from indigenous ingredients such as game meats, corn, and wild plants. The restaurant does not serve ingredients that were introduced to the region by Europeans, including butter, dairy, sugar, wheat, chicken, beef, and pork.

Northwestern Consolidated Milling Company Elevator A also known as the Ceresota Elevator and "The Million Bushel Elevator" was a receiving and public grain elevator built by the Northwestern Consolidated Milling Company in 1908 in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the United States. The elevator may have been the largest brick elevator ever constructed (brick construction being relatively uncommon) and ran on electricity. The elevator was the source for the Crown Roller Mill and Standard Mill. Those mills closed in the 1950s but the elevator continued in use for grain storage until the mid 1980s. The building is a contributing property of the Saint Anthony Falls History District listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. In 1987 the elevator was converted to 92,081 square feet (8,555 m2) of office space. That required removing the vertical bin structure and creating floors without destroying the building walls. Before the conversion the building was documented to Historic American Engineering Record standards. Conversion was sensitive to the building history and the building is still a contributing property. About 2015 the building was converted to Millers Landing Senior Living.

Walden University is a private online for-profit university headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health, Education Specialist, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The university is owned by Adtalem Global Education, which purchased the university in August 2021.

The Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company Building, also known as the Northern Implement Company and the American Trio Building, is a warehouse building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. PPG Industries of Pittsburgh constructed the structure. It was designed by thearchitectural firm Kees and Colburn and shows strong influences of architect Louis Sullivan. The arches in the top floor windows are modeled after Louis Sullivan's designs, which in turn were influenced by Henry Hobson Richardson's Richardsonian Romanesque style. The corners of the building are subtly chamfered in at the bottom and rise toward a flaring cornice at the top, echoing John Wellborn Root's design of the Monadnock Building in Chicago.The building has now been converted to loft apartments.

100 Washington Square is a 332-ft (101 m) high-rise office building located in downtown Minneapolis. Construction started in 1979 and was completed in 1981. It covers 481,600 square feet and has 22 floors. As of December 1, 2020, it is the 28th tallest building in the city. The building was designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, who had previously designed the Northwestern National Life Building in Minneapolis and the World Trade Center in New York City. As with the Trade Center, the exterior of the building is composed of closely spaced load-bearing steel that distributes weight to the core and removes the need for internal support columns. A skyway connects the building to Churchill Apartments, and The Crossings. In 2015, Shorenstein, a national real estate investing organization, purchased the three buildings that comprise the Washington Square campus, including 100 Washington Square.ING, a successor to Northwestern National Life Insurance, is the largest tenant.

The Minneapolis Aquatennial is an annual outdoor event held in the U.S. city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the third full week of July. Originating in 1940, the Minneapolis Aquatennial celebrates the city's famous lakes, rivers, and streams. Advertised as The Best Days of Summer the festivities previously included some 70 events, including sand castle building, beach volleyball, a tennis invitational, a triathlon, parades, Subway Block Party and the final Target Fireworks. The annual "Milk Carton Boat Races," featured various divisions of boat races with boats constructed of milk cartons. The fireworks display is one of the largest in the country, and larger than the city's Fourth of July celebration. Minneapolis celebrated its centennial in 1956 in conjunction with the Aquatennial. The city's sesquicentennial was July 18–27, 2008, the year Minnesota celebrated 150 years of statehood.The Aquatennial was cancelled from 1942 to 1945 because of World War II, and in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minneapolis City Hall and Hennepin County Courthouse (also known as the Municipal Building), designed by Long and Kees in 1888, is the main building used by the city government of Minneapolis, as well as by Hennepin County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The structure has served as mainly local government offices since it was built, and today the building is 60 percent occupied by the city and 40 percent occupied by the County. The building is jointly owned by the city and county and managed by the Municipal Building Commission. The Commission consists of the chair of the County Board, the mayor of the City of Minneapolis, a member of the County Board and a member of the Minneapolis City Council. The County Board chair serves as the president of the Commission and the mayor serves as the vice president. The building bears a striking resemblance to the city hall buildings in Cincinnati and Toronto. The City Hall and Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Churchill Apartments is a 310-ft (95 m) skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was built in 1981 and has 33 floors. It is the 33rd-tallest building in the city. The opening scene of the movie Young Adult was filmed in various units of the building.
