Château d'Andlau

Andlau Abbey (Abbaye d'Andlau) was a women's collegiate foundation for secular canonesses located at Andlau in Alsace, eastern France.

The Château de Spesbourg is a ruined castle that dominates the valley above the village of Andlau, in the Bas-Rhin department of France. The castle was constructed between 1246 and 1250 by Alexander of Stahleck-Dicka, Vogt to Andlau Abbey. In 1386 it became the property of the family von Andlau. In the 16th century angry locals set fire to the castle after one of the lords seduced a village girl. The castle fell into ruin after the Thirty Years' War. In 1967 it was registered with the national Inventory of Historic Buildings by the French Ministry of Culture.

Andlau (French pronunciation: [ɑ̃dlo] or [andlau]; Alsatian: Àndlöi) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace, Grand Est region of northeastern France. Andlau has been a wine-growing centre and traveler destination since its earliest days. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Andlaviens or Andlaviennes.The commune has been awarded two flowers by the National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom in the Competition of cities and villages in Bloom.

The Château du Landsberg is a castle in the commune of Heiligenstein in the Bas-Rhin département in Alsace, France. The castle includes a Zwinger with two sets of defensive walls. Construction dates from the 12th, 13th and 15th centuries. The land belonged to the Abbey of Niedersmunster.The castle is privately owned. It has been listed since 1965 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

Air Inter Flight 148 (officially Flight 5148) was a scheduled passenger flight from Lyon Satolas Airport to Strasbourg Airport in France. On 20 January 1992, the Airbus A320 operating the flight crashed into the slopes of the Vosges Mountains, France, near Mont Sainte-Odile, while on a non-precision approach at Strasbourg Airport. Eighty-seven of the 96 people on board were killed, while the remaining nine were all injured.

Mittelbergheim is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France.The village is a member of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France ("The most beautiful villages of France") association. Its vineyards produce one of the finest Alsacian wines: the Grand Cru Zotzenberg.

Bernardvillé (German: Bernhardsweiler) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in northeastern France.

Niedermunster Abbey, situated at the foot of Mount Saint Odile at an altitude of 511 metres, was founded around 700 A.D. to cater for the overflow of pilgrims to the Saint Odile Abbey, formerly known as the Hohenbourg. The abbey was founded by Saint Odile of Alsace, who was also the first Abbess. When Saint Odile died, in Niedermunster Abbey in 720, her niece Gundelina took over as abbess. Until the end of the 12th century, the two abbeys formed a single institution, but from the beginning of the 13th century, they began to operate as separate establishments. In 1542 the abbey came under the authority of the Great Chapter of Strasbourg Cathedral. The Abbey buildings of which the ruins are still visible today were built between 1150 and 1180 AD. The Abbey was seriously damaged during the Peasants' War in 1525 and again by two fires, in 1542 and 1572. The nuns abandoned the abbey in 1545 and it was never reoccupied. The site was then used, up until the 19th century, as a quarry for other buildings, including the adjacent farm. A hospital was built at the site, in addition to the abbey. For several centuries the abbey was known for its relics, the head and arm of Saint Lazarus of Marseille. When the abbey was burnt down these were transferred to Andlau, eventually disappearing during the French Revolution.

Eichhoffen (French pronunciation: [aiʃofən] ; German: Eichhofen im Elsaß) is a commune, in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France. Eichhoffen station has rail connections to Strasbourg and Sélestat.

Mont Sainte-Odile (German: 'Odilienberg' or Ottilienberg; called Allitona in the 8th century) is a 764-metre-high peak in the Vosges Mountains in Alsace in France, immediately west of Barr. The mountain is named after Saint Odile. It has a monastery/convent at its top called the Hohenburg Abbey, and is notable also for its stone fortifications called "the Pagan Wall." In 1992, Air Inter Flight 148 crashed near this area.
